As a new year begins so a new issue of Destination Romance dawns and once again Romance is in the chilly air! This issue we go ice skating and explore some beautiful sims.
Hope this issue inspires you to visit these wonderful places with the one you love and sample the magic and romance they create.

3. Romantic Sim Design Tips Zaliant
Romantic Ice Skating
You can’t beat a fun night ice skating together, here we take you to three of the best Romantic ice-skating sims.
1. Ice skating - Astoria (teleport)
First up is one of our favourite places for ice skating because it is beautiful and not too popular.
Listen to good romantic music and watch out for the animals darting here and there such bunnies, deer and polar bears.
At the landing point teleport to ice-skating or other activities.
Jump on the couple-balls to skate off down the frozen river, but be quick otherwise you’ll be solo skating!
There are plenty of cuddle spots around like this cute hut, or snuggle around the fire with a free hot choc and sparkler.
When you visit a romantic sim like this, take time to make the most of it and create special moments.
Take a few photos, walk around together, try different cuddle areas and make sure you have the same light settings ie. Sunset.
Stroll along with your sparklers and you’ll find some amazing idyllic romantic spots like this lovely romantic bridge with coloured lights gazing across the snowy fir-tree lined landscape.
Ice Skating - Calas (teleport)
If you want to enjoy a social ice-skate then Calas is always popular.
Nice scenery surrounds a frozen lake with single & couple ice skating.
Enjoy close harmony as you gracefully skate together, or pull off to the side and kiss under the mistletoe. or find a romantic cuddle/dance area.
A couple of romantic looking bridges encourage you to explore on foot or even by sky as you cuddle together in this cute balloon!
Ice Skating – Love Valley (teleport)
Here you can pose for a romantic photo or go skating on a pretty lake.
Behind the landing point there’s a lovely fantasy wintery walk to discover, with cuddle spots lining the way.
Some more unusual than others but keeping in with the snowy/icy theme, like this ski lift cabin. Squeeze in for a cosy cuddle!
2 - Romantic Winter Activities
There are lots of fun Romantic activities you can do besides ice skating. Find snowmen to build and battle each other with a fun snowball fight.
Enjoy a merry-go-round at a winter fair, take a cuddly tour by balloon, or hop on a sleigh ride through a winter wonderland.
Lost Ocean - Snow (teleport)
I came across this lovely romantic sim recently, it may be lost, hidden beneath all the snow and ice, but it’s well designed and worth a visit. The sim harbours some fun romantic activities you can enjoy.
Why not start off at this cosy cabin and watch floating lanterns at night.
Looks rustic and cosy inside so come on in out of the cold!
Why not each grab a sledge outside and explore the rest of the sim.
More skating if you need but this time the scene is different with tall mountains looming behind giving a cool backdrop, and cute cabins nestled around the snowy edge.
Discover a snow-mobile parked near a cabin for more Romantic fun, but make sure you hold onto the driver if you’re the passenger!
Pull off alongside this lovely little jetty, sink into a soft cushion and snuggle next to the warm fire pit. Some good cuddle animations here.
The Wonder of Romantic sims
Is the wonder of a Romantic sim in creating a beautiful Romantic place? No of course its more than that, the wonder is in providing areas within the sim where you can experience special romantic moments together.
Making a sim Romantic – Zaliant - (teleport)
In this series we hope to bring you the best tips from the top Romantic sim designers to set your hearts beating for more!
Zaliant has been one of my favourite sims for many years, but what gives it that Romance appeal and why has this place lasted so long?
Here are our thoughts on what makes Zaliant so special.
1. Romantic beauty in every season.
Tara, the owner and designer of Zaliant does a great job in making the sim attractive for Romance all year round.
You can take a Romantic Winter Walk or enjoy a Romantic Sunset Swing on the beach.
2. Light up the way
The use of lights on a sim provide the Romantic ambience, whether it’s a flaming torch creating a warm glow, or a lamp encouraging you to walk into a Romantic adventure.
3. Plenty of intimate cuddle spots
A good romantic sim has plenty of cute photogenic cuddle spots hidden away in secluded areas.
These need to have a good selection of animations, so the couple can choose the right setting for a more personal experience.
4. Romantic Music
A Romance sim must have Romance music to enhance the experience, it goes hand in hand and echoes the words your hearts need. Slow Radio and Heart stations are great choices for an audio stream.
5. Slow dances
No romance sim is complete without slow dances.
Load up your intan and place it in an easy visible area. This allows couples to call dance balls in the place they choose.
6. Choice
Ok so you want to enjoy your date but someone drops in on you and hangs around, what do you do? Zaliant has the answer!
Use the blue teleport disk to continue uninterrupted in another romantic area on the sim. Zaliant has a good choice, even Isles in the sky!
All these thoughtful additions have contributed to that Special Romance Appeal which Zaliant has, but how has it lasted so long?
The answer is all down to the lovely attitude of Tara, who has kept the sim running for others to enjoy it even when she isn’t there!
