Meet the pacers—Half

Michael Bursak aka Prosecco

I started running in 2016 and ran my first half marathon in 2017. I will race anything between a 5k and 100 miles, but prefer 10k to a half marathon distance races. I run a few days a week when not training for an event, just to maintain a base. I’m looking forward to pacing the Basingstoke Half as I’m very familiar with the course and love a local event.

Andy Goddard

I have been running since 2011 and am member of BMHAC, I try to run at least a couple of marathons/half marathons a year and this year achieved my Abbott World Marathon 6 Star in Tokyo. I love the Basingstoke Half course and regularly run it as part of my training.

1hr45

Matt Pillinger

Elaine Liversage

I fell in love with running through the running community. BMHAC have been a massive support to me and I have developed the skills to run 5k, 10k, half marathons and marathons and improved my times each year. I am currently working my way through all the major marathons, got a PB in Newport this year which has qualified me for another 2 majors next year. Running has also allowed me to compete in triathlons and have achieved a half Ironman. I am looking forward to pacing the Basingstoke Half Marathon for the first time

I am a member of, and treasurer for, Lordshill Road Runners and race regularly in distances from 5k to marathon. I’ve completed around 35 half marathons and in that time have seen my time drop from over 2 hours to the current, just under, 90 minutes. The 2018 event was my first “professional” pacing and I’ve been fortunate enough to be asked to pace every year since, with my finishing times ranging from 1:44:32 to 1:44:57. You’ll know the course isn’t flat, so I won’t be running consistent 8:00/mile pace, rather I will be running a consistent effort – slower uphill, faster downhill, to give you the best chance of finishing with, or in front of, me. Come up and say hello before the event, and if 1:45 is your goal, stick with me – we’ll get there together.

Nikki Hewett

I started running in 2011 to train for the first Basingstoke Half Marathon. Since that race I have gone on to run various marathons including international ones, and also have a fair few ultras under my belt. I am a coach for Chineham Park Running Club and for the past 9 years have helped runners train on the Basingstoke Half Marathon course.

Graham Collins

I started running in 2012 after being inspired by my friends running the Basingstoke Half Marathon in 2011. I’m a member of Hatch Warren Runners and love pacing at the Basingstoke Half Marathon to help others achieve their goals.

Whilst my running focus has switched to ultra distances, I still love getting out on the beautiful Basingstoke Half Marathon course.

2hr15

Rhianna Edwards

I’m Rhi and I have run from the young age of 6, starting my journey at Aldershot. I have two boys and work as a children’s epilepsy community nurse. I enjoy running with friends followed by coffee.

I am looking forward to being a pacer for the Half Marathon this year.

Stuart Dewey

I have run all the Basingstoke Half Marathons, apart from last year due to getting Covid, so I am really looking forward to getting back out there again and helping you reach you 2:15 pace

2hr30

Kevin Biles

I love running over many distances from 5k to Ultra Marathon. I have run with Hatch Warren Runners since I started and love to see everyone’s personal running goals, challenges and successes. Basingstoke Half Marathon is a fantastic race, and superb route, and I can’t wait to support everyone get to that finish line

Michael Hickey

I ran the Basingstoke Marathon twice in the mid 80s, and I used to enter local races occasionally for the next 25 years (although I didn’t think of myself as a runner!).I started doing Parkrun regularly in 2012, and began to train more regularly. I’m a member of Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC, and I have raced all distances from 800m to ultra marathons. I have previously paced 2:00 at Basingstoke.

45min

Meet the pacers—10k

James Bate

I started running through parkrun and was hooked! I then decided to set myself a goal of running a marathon the following year. Although I swore I’d never do it again, I’ve since completed all six major marathons and have brought my time down to 2:45 – something I could only have dreamt of.

I’m looking forward to pacing the 2024 Basingstoke 10k. Feel free to say hello and if your target is sub-45 minutes then stick with me and we’ll make it happen. As you’ll probably know, it’s not a flat course so we’ll start steady and finish slightly quicker – a negative split to boot!

I started running back in 2005 after retiring from football. I join BMHAC in 2006/7 to help improve my running. Since joining BMHAC I’ve gone on to complete over 500 Park Runs, 40+ marathons 40+ half marathons and numerous 10k’s. I really do enjoy helping others to achieve their running targets and I have done a lot of pacing. So if a sub 45 minute 10k is what you are looking for then stick with me.

1hr

Tom Hartgill

I’m a member of Hatch Warren Runners and am the club’s coaching coordinator. I have been running for over 15 years and have completed a number of races over all distances from 5k to marathon. I appreciate the physical and mental benefits of running, the chance to keep improving and to support others on their running journey.

I am a first claim and founder member of Hook Runners and second claim BMHAC, and have been running for well over 30 years. I’ve run 6 marathons (and a virtual one), including London this year for the first time where I got a qualifying time for Boston 2025. I absolutely love running and have been known to get up to an alarm that starts with 4 in order to do so. Most of all though, I’ve loved the people I’ve met through running, having lived (and run!) in Malaysia, Ohio and Kansas. I’m excited to pace the event where I got my own 10K PB and hopefully get others to do the same.

Melvine Cancisco aka Vin Hi, I am Melvine Cancisio, but you can call me Vin. I am a father, traveller, volunteer teacher, and an enthusiastic runner.

I was not born a runner, but I believe that we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Trust the process and let our determination take the lead. Recently, I became a pacer for a Saudi group called We Run, which has helped me achieve my goals in running.

Caz

Partner

I have been running since high school and have ran various distances ranging from 100m up to marathon distance and I’ve completed numerous races in this time. I’m also an age group GB Duathlete and have taken part in various European Championships. I’m also a member of Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC.

1hr30

Ryan Partner

Regularly takes part in parkrun each Saturday. Runs various distances including half marathon and a marathon.

Jo Breeds

I started running as a 10 year old for Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC competing in 800m and 1500m and many years later, I am now a coach at Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC, coaching Middle Distance Athletics to a group of young athletes. I still run myself for fun and am a Hatch Warren Runner, I completed the London Marathon last year and have taken place in a number of 10ks and half marathons over the years. Running is my happy place :)
