D and Lara Logan’s vision for Kingbird began with their own dream home at Cornerstone Ranch—thoughtfully designed to bring generations together. Whether it be Holiday’s or family get togethers, their home becomes the epicenter of love, laughter, and lasting memories.
With a soaring foyer, an open kitchen, and a balcony that wraps the heart of the home, every corner is meant to keep the family connected. Their grown children each have private suites, while the grandchildren bunk together and
spend their days exploring the land, catching fish, and reporting back to “Loli” (Grandma) over walkie-talkies. A bell rings from the back porch when it’s time to come in.
It’s a space designed not for show, but for legacy. For the Logans, Kingbird is a chance to pass down the most meaningful gift: time together in a place that brings joy, freedom, and connection.
THE SMITHS
Kevin & Amy Smith
For Kevin and Amy Smith, Kingbird began as a passion project—a place where their love for horses, land, and a slower, intentional way of living could take shape. It started with a cutting horse rink and a vision for a one-of-a-kind training and boarding facility. But as they spent more time on the land, they realized something deeper: Kingbird wasn’t just where they wanted to work—it was where they were meant to be.
Their waterfront farm in Hampstead had served them well, but it no longer felt aligned with their future. At Kingbird, they found more than freedom—they found possibility.
From the back porch, they overlook pastures and stables instead of water and what they’ve gained is something deeper. More space. More freedom. More
opportunity to live life on their terms. Today their land is alive with their true forever home, surrounded by barns, riding rings, guest homes, and sweeping pastures.

DESIGN CONCEPT 1: CANOPY
Perched above the forest floor, Canopy invites residents to live among the trees—an immersive experience of elevation, privacy, and light.
Designed for a densely wooded homesite in Kingbird, this home minimizes its ground-level footprint to preserve the natural beauty of the land.
The lower level serves essential functions—garage, mudroom, entry, elevator, and a serene outdoor living space with pool— while the main living areas rise into the treetops.
Split into two elevated wings,
Canopy separates public and private spaces with intention. One wing houses the bedrooms, anchored by a primary suite oriented toward views of a detached guest residence.
The other contains the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, centered around a monolithic concrete fireplace that extends to an outdoor balcony facing the water.
Blending minimalism with bold structural clarity, Canopy is a reflection of Kingbird’s ethos: design freedom, lifestyle elevation, and land used with purpose.
DESIGN CONCEPT 2: HOMESTEAD
Rooted in tradition but elevated with modern craftsmanship, Homestead embraces a grounded, ranch-style lifestyle that honors both the land and its legacy.
Defined by twin gabled volumes clad in vertical cedar and topped with rusted corrugated metal roofing, the architecture draws from agrarian forms while integrating refined, contemporary detailing.
Exposed timber and natural textures create warmth and a sense of permanence—qualities that echo the spirit of Kingbird living.
A glass connector binds the two gabled volumes, offering a striking moment of contrast and a frame or nature.
One side houses the bedrooms; the other contains the garage, kitchen, and service spaces.
At the heart of the home, the transparent connector opens into a living and dining space that spills out toward a private backyard oasis.
On the lake side, a generous deck floats over the water with fire pit and seating, forming a tranquil gathering space that merges architecture and landscape.
