My Experience of Luckley by Henar
Mi experiencia en Luckley House School ha sido la mejor experiencia de mi vida. Cuando entre al colegio solo pensaba quedarme 3 meses, pero al final he acabado quedándome un año, y no quiero irme para nada. Por un lado, el internado del colegio tiene un ambiente tan familiar que parece como si estuvieses en casa. Los primeros días fueron duros, pero la gente del internado es tan amable y simpática que no me costó mucho adaptarme al gran cambio. Toda la gente me recibió con los brazos abiertos y enseguida conseguí hacer amigas que ahora considero parte de mi familia. Nunca pensé que las chicas con las que he compartido mi tiempo en el internado iban a significar tanto para mí. Son como mi familia y las quiero como si fueran mis hermanas. Además los profesores del internado han sido todos geniales. Me han tratado súper bien y siempre estaban pendientes de que estuviese bien. Por otro lado toda mi estancia en el colegio ha sido buenísima. Todo el mundo ha sido súper amable y simpático conmigo. Mis compañeros y mis amigos me han tratado siempre súper bien y han estado siempre dispuestos a ayudarme. Además cuando estaba triste o echaba de menos a mi familia, siempre tenía amigas y amigos que me animaban y me hacían sonreir. No voy a olvidar a ninguno de mis amigos. También, todos los profesores que he tenido se han preocupado por mí en todo momento, y todos me han ayudado siempre que he necesitado ayuda. Por ejemplo, nunca que pensé que fuese a aprender a jugar al Netball o a Rounders, pero gracias a los profesores de deportes he aprendido a jugar lo que ahora son mis deportes favoritos. De verdad, recomiendo totalmente esta experiencia a todos los estudiantes que vienen de otros países. Muchísimas gracias a Luckley House School por este fantástico año y por toda la ayuda recibida por parte de todos. ¡No os voy a olvidar nunca y prometo visitaros pronto!
Short Term Boarding Package £11,500 per term all inclusive. Includes all food, books, extra-curricular activities, *boarding trips, EAL lessons and transport to and from the airport. EAL Provision One hour per week to include conversational group lessons geared around general everyday and academic English, and if required, 1:1 sessions for focusing on writing and grammar.
Boarding Experience Wherever possible students will share the comfortable bedrooms with someone of a different nationality to encourage veryone to learn the English language better. There are shared common rooms for all boarders to relax and socialise together during their free time.
Trips and Extra-Curricular Activities There is a full programme of after-school activities available throughout the school week and all boarders are encouraged to participate. Weekend trips will include cultural visits, including trips to London and Windsor, as well as leisure activities, such as shopping, bowling, cinema and theme parks. *In addition, optional year group or subject related trips may be available at extra cost.
Academic Curriculum Year 7- 9 students will follow a broad, balanced programme of study including: English, Drama, Mathematics, Science, *Modern Languages (French, German, Spanish), Engineering, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Art, Computer Science, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Textiles, Food and Nutrition and 4U, our Personal and Social Education programme *Choice of language Year 10 students will study the core subjects of Maths, English Language, English Literature, Science and MFL and will choose four further subjects from the following: Art, Business, Chinese (Mandarin), Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, Food Preparation & Nutrition, Geography, History, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Religious Studies and Textiles.
Personal Notebook Computer Every student is issued with a Personal Notebook Computer when they start at Luckley, which is theirs until they leave the school. The Notebooks are used in most lessons and also for prep and personal study.
Report - Study Record At the end of the term, each student will receive a record of study for each subject, as well as a personal report from the Form Tutor and Head of Boarding.
Transport We will provide transport to and from the airport at the beginning and end of each half term. We will provide named staff for meeting unaccompanied minors.
Uniform Requirements The school will loan short term pupils a blazer, skirt (girls) and a tie (boys) for the duration of their stay at Luckley. Science overalls will be provided. Items to be purchased Girls: Plain navy jumper, white blouses, short white socks, navy tights. Boys: Plain navy jumper, charcoal trousers, white shirts, short grey socks. Games Wear: Navy shorts, pale blue T shirt, plain jogging bottoms, 2 pairs of trainers (indoors and outdoors). Short term boarders often like to purchase a branded hoodie from the Uniform Shop as a keepsake. Equipment: Sports bag, shin pads, mouth guard, padlock. Additional items • One smart outfit for formal wear • Trousers /jeans x 2 • Tops (jumpers, cardigans, shirts/ blouses) x 4 maximum in total • Bedroom slippers, not mule type • Non-uniform shoes (not clogs, backless or stilettos) • Underwear; bras (3) - if worn (girls), pants (7) • Nightwear (3) and dressing gown (essential) • 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels • Weekend case - small • Toiletries • Adaptors for UK use Bedding will be provided
