LITERARY EVENTS IN THE LIBRARY It was a great pleasure to finally hold some literary events in the Library last Wednesday following our periods of lockdown.Year 8 pupils were treated to a virtual author event hosted by Wokingham Borough Libraries. The award-winning writer, Patrice Lawrence, spoke about her new book ‘Rat’ and how her unconventional family background has inspired her writing. We also gathered together some of our top readers from Years 7 and 8 to compete in the National Reading Champions Quiz. Over 20 teams took part in the regional heat and our students put in maximum effort in rounds including myths, comics and books to screen. We scored well but alas did not make the final. Well done to Bea, Flo, Ava, Lara, Sophie, Emma, Sophia and India. Keep on reading and we’ll try again next year!
STAMP COMPETITION 16 Luckley pupils have entered the Royal Mail Heroes ‘Design A Stamp Competition’ for 4-14 year olds. ROBERT WOWS WITH THEATRE ALIBI!
YEAR 10 TEXTILES
Robert H produced a brilliant self-devised monologue for his A level exam this week. Performed to a small audience, Robert worked closely with Mr Bamber to achieve a technically demanding performance. Huge efforts went into this unusual tale told in the style of Theatre Alibi, with interesting use of props, lighting and sound. Congratulations to the team! Mrs Brown, Director of Drama
Well done to the Year 10 Textiles class who created these stunning pieces of work in their five-hour exam. They worked on the theme of cultural influences. All are patterncut products on the mannequins, using lots of decorative techniques.
