LITERARY EVENTS IN THE LIBRARY It was a great pleasure to finally hold some literary events in the Library last Wednesday following our periods of lockdown.Year 8 pupils were treated to a virtual author event hosted by Wokingham Borough Libraries. The award-winning writer, Patrice Lawrence, spoke about her new book ‘Rat’ and how her unconventional family background has inspired her writing. We also gathered together some of our top readers from Years 7 and 8 to compete in the National Reading Champions Quiz. Over 20 teams took part in the regional heat and our students put in maximum effort in rounds including myths, comics and books to screen. We scored well but alas did not make the final. Well done to Bea, Flo, Ava, Lara, Sophie, Emma, Sophia and India. Keep on reading and we’ll try again next year!
STAMP COMPETITION 16 Luckley pupils have entered the Royal Mail Heroes ‘Design A Stamp Competition’ for 4-14 year olds. Thank you and well done for those who have entered: Alice B, Emma S, Lawrence H, Emmy W, Maddy V, Hannah LS, Csilla K, India K, Elizabeth C, Fleur M, Jessica C, Jonathan S, Tate PN, Tilly W, Alfie H & Hannah D. Please see Mrs Gibbs for your certificate.R
ROBERT WOWS WITH THEATRE ALIBI!
YEAR 10 TEXTILES
Robert H produced a brilliant self-devised monologue for his A level exam this week. Performed to a small audience, Robert worked closely with Mr Bamber to achieve a technically demanding performance. Huge efforts went into this unusual tale told in the style of Theatre Alibi, with interesting use of props, lighting and sound. Congratulations to the team! Mrs Brown, Director of Drama
Well done to the Year 10 Textiles class who created these stunning pieces of work in their five-hour exam. They worked on the theme of cultural influences. All are patterncut products on the mannequins, using lots of decorative techniques.

SPORT UPDATE
Mr Humphrey, Director of Sport
SQUAD IN TOUCH FIXTURES Fixtures are usually the bread and butter of any PE department and these have sadly been missing this academic year due to COVID-19. However, we are busy planning for each year group to have an opportunity to represent the school at least once before the end of the academic year, starting after half term! Please watch this space and ensure that you sign up to the Squad in Touch app (details below). Squad in Touch, for those new to the school, is our online system aimed at improving communication between parents and the school for sporting fixtures and training. The system allows pupils, parents and guardians instant access to fixture information and fixture updates. Please see the information below regarding how to sign up to the account and app, and how to link your account with your child. Please note if you have already signed up you will not need to do so again.Your son/daughter can also log in and sign up by going onto the app or website, clicking ‘forgot password’, entering their school email as the username and following the instructions sent to their email account. Please also be aware nothing will show on your calendar until your son/daughter has been added to a fixture or event. Register in three easy steps: 1. Sign up at www.squadintouch.co.uk or install the mobile application from the Android Play Store or from the App Store for iOS. 2. Enter your details and verify your mobile phone and email address. These need to be identical to those of the primary contact already held by the school or your account will not be authorised. 3. Select the school.
