“I BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE OF SPORT.” E XCITING CHANGES ARE COMING TO LUCKLEY HOUSE SCHOOL
I BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE OF SPORT SPORT..
INTRODUCING MATT HUMPHREY, DIRECTOR OF SPORT
That is why I am thrilled to announce some exciting new developments at Luckley House School.
We are delighted to welcome Matt Humphrey BSc to Luckley House School, as Director of Sport. His enthusiasm, love for sport and growth mindset are helping to raise our athletes to a new level.
In my short time as the new Head of our School, I have been keen to make positive changes for the future, across all departments and facilities – starting with sport.
“Teaching is about relationships; using them to create the appropriate environment – with a good amount of challenge – that motivates the individual to want to learn, participate and perform.
Today, I am honoured to announce a new All Weather Pitch and Athlete Development Programme – and I extend a warm welcome to our new Director of Sport, Mr Matthew Humphrey.
I love the football analogy of having 11 teams of one, rather than one team of 11. Winning or losing does not build character – it reveals it.
It has been wonderful to watch our athletes at Luckley House School flourish – and I am so excited for the future of our Sports Department under Matt’s leadership. Together, we will help the next generation believe in the future of sport, too.
In my time at Luckley House, I have seen exceptional growth in the PE and Sports Department. I love the pupils and the school, and I cannot wait to see what the next chapter has in store for us.”

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ADP)
We are beyond excited to reveal the development of a multi-use games area, complete with floodlights and a next-generation All Weather Pitch, to take Luckley House School into the future of sport.
We have developed our new Athlete Development Programme (ADP) to help our pupils become the best versions of themselves that they can be in sport. It is aimed at our scholars and pupils who demonstrate sporting promise.
Our new sports facility will expand our curriculum and provision for all sports – giving our pupils more opportunities to participate and perform than ever.
Our Junior and Senior programmes are tailored to the needs of each pupil – and include strength and conditioning, functional movement patterns, flexibility training, physical literacy as well as sport-specific skills training. Training sessions are run by Mr Nate Standing, our Graduate Sports Assistant. Alongside the practical sessions, the ADP includes a year-long programme of workshops ranging from dealing with pressure, a balanced diet, goal-setting and getting the best out of yourself.
To overcome the short days and inclement weather of the winter months, we are installing a competition-ready, all weather playing surface and lighting system, suitable for national matches year-round. It will become the new home of our 9-a-side football team – and will grow to include a purpose-built spectator area for match days. Our new multi-use games area will allow us to deliver hockey lessons, host up to two competitive 7-a-side fixtures at a time and will also contain a number of tennis and netball courts. To complement these new state-of-the-art facilities, we are rolling out a comprehensive Athlete Development Programme, to nurture our top sporting talent.
WITH A NEW HEAD COMES NEW MOMENTUM
The programme also empowers our senior pupils to become mentors for our lower ADP and this is organised by Mr Humphrey.
