¡
Based on discussions at a whole-of-government, inter-agency Workshop on Climate Change FastStart Finance’ held in Majuro, RMI from 16 to 18 August 2010, participants elaborated the following RMI Climate Change Roadmap 2010 to: § Enhance the coordination and coherence of RMI’s

¡ In parallel, take advantage of the unique
window of opportunity afforded by climate change fast-start finance for the period 2010 to 2012 (as captured in the Copenhagen Accord) by committing immediately to: § (a)expedite implementation and scaling-up of
current climate-related development plans, programs and projects; and § (b)prioritize, initiate, design and seek development partner support for new initiatives.
¡ Ownership of Policy: How do we get
Marshallese to own this policy?
1. Consultations with relevant stakeholders across all sectors both Government and NonGovernment ¡ 2. Validation Workshop ¡ 3. Present Draft to National Climate Change Committee (NC3) for further review ¡ 4.Presentation of Policy to Council of Chiefs, WUTMI Annual Conference, Women’s Day Conference, Development Partners Meeting, Minister in Assistance. ¡ 5. SOLUTION: ¡
Instead of inventing new Marshallese words, technical terms will be elaborated in Marshallese
¡ “Foster and guide a national plan of action to
address current and short, medium and long term effects of climate change, ensuring to the greatest possible extent that the quality of life of the people of the Marshall Islands and opportunities for sustainable development are not compromised.”
