0 1 . G I v i n g At t e n t i o n Skid Row Tour w/ Danny Park

One of the key points that we observed through touring skid row with Danny, was that there is a lack of attention and opportunities towards homeless people. So, giving hope to them acts as an important role in giving motivation to them.

02. PRIDE OF HOME The Star Apt Tour w/ Tim and Jennifer

The design philosophy of The Star Apartments, places importance on pride because the residents would also gain confidence of living there. Plus, the elevation of where they are compared to the street gives an emotional impact too.

03. Communal Activities Mosaic Workshop w/ Piece by Piece

The Star Apartments do not only provide a residence but also different activities, such as a music room, workout area, and even through mosaic art. Activities like these not only enhance interaction skills but act as therapy

FROM THREAT TO THREAD PERSONAL WORK EXHIBIT DESIGN CONCEPT ADIDAS x PARLEY BARKER HANGAR, SANTA MONICA, CA MARCH 2018

CONCEPT Adidas x Parley event proposal, for an upcoming shoe release, in hopes of inspiring young designers to create products using materials that do not harm our world.

RESEARCH About the Adidas and Parley Collaboration

Current estimates show there are roughly 80,000 tons of plastic polluting the Pacific Ocean. That’s an area roughly three times the size of France, and it’s only getting bigger, which is cause for grave concern. Together, Adidas and Parley have come up with creative footwear solutions which utilize Parley Ocean Plastic, a proprietary textile made from recycled plastic retrieved from our oceans, proving that footwear companies are able to adopt sustainable manufacturing practices at scale so long as they have the will to do so.

For my research I visited 4 aquariums, and also signed up for an oceanology class to learn more about how we can do our part to save our oceans.

02. EXHIBIT HALL

Art is the great connector of all cultures and its with art that will be the best way to reach our demographic of young entrepeurs and designers.

Adidas and Parley are influencing a younger and more vibrant demographic into making healthier choices at an earlier age. Clothing is self expression, is class and has become lifestyle.

PULSE PERSONAL WORK BRANDING and RETAIL CONCEPT ULTIMATE EARS SPEAKERS ABBOT KINNEY, CA MARCH 2018

CONCEPT A community driven multi-sensory soundscape for Ultimate Ears’ first retail store. Using color changing visuals, inspired by the stretching of pigments in a cuttlefish’s skin, the environment changes colors based on music requests taken through an app. This creates a reflection of the user’s emotion which helps you to engage and share a moment with the people around you.

03

RESEARCH AN IMMERSIVE SPACE TO EXPERIENCE, PURCHASE OR PERFORM MUSIC, SOUND AND STORIES.

Ultimate Ears Speakers was founded in 1995 by Jerry Harvey, a sound engineer that worked for Eddie Van Halen. Their brand mainly focuses on creating a portable wireless speaker that could keep up with their very active, and athletic demographic. Abbot Kinney blvd is famously known for being the gracious host of First Fridays; an event where food trucks and other entertainment come to occupy the street every first friday of the month, to create a shared experience with locals and tourists.

“Keep AbBott Kinney Weird!”

With Ue’s Roll2 speakers, you can sync up to over 120 rolls at a time and create your very own block party. This technology will be demonstrated in their stores ‘Sound Canopy’ to create the ultimate immersive experience.

CHILL PERSONAL WORK RETAIL CONCEPT COOLHAUS AWESOME ICECREAM LA RIVER, Los angeles, CA MARCH 2018

CONCEPT I wanted to create a space where cyclists can make a quick detour, relax and enjoy the cooling environment in our Ice Creamery/ Cafe. A place where you can lounge and do home work and talk with friends, but also a social hub that helps to excite locals and promote community projects.

04

LA River

RESEARCH Site Location History: In March 1938, a devasting flood overtook the Los Angeles River killing between 113–115 people. The flood had caused $78 million in damages, making it one of the costliest natural disasters in Los Angeles’ history. In a time of crisis, a group of angelino architects and engineers came to our aid. They created an infrastructure for the river and were able to create ledges high enough that this event could never happen again. Brand Research: Cool Haus is a Los Angeles based Ice creamery which uses their business to share their love of architecture. In a city full of incredible buildings, buzzing urbanism, and art; Coolhaus hopes to inspire Angelinos to explore where they live, and be proud to call it home. I wanted to create a space that celebrates the city of LA and its community.

02. EXHIBIT HALL

Coming fro design backgrounds, the co owners named their ice cream after famous architects and other architectural movements that impact

The ice creamery was inspired by a dutch architect named Kool Haas whos work has also influencedthe design of my canopy.

The team of engineers that helped to fix the Los Angeles River. Project 04 / 27

EXPERIENCE

Chromatherapy, ETFE, and Bike path.

First idea was inspired by ice caves, and the scooping of ice cream. I wanted to create something that rang true to Los Angeles’s thematicism and also the science behind chromatherapy. Using similar stategy to the uses in jodhpur, India to cool down their city.

Jodhpur, India. Also known as the Sun City.

ALong the LA River, there is a thriving bike culture within the locals. I was inspired to find an interesting way to welcome the community into the design.

An outdoor agoura space for locals to connect witht he community, share with the public about upcoming projects and host neighborly events.

EXPERIENCE

A bridge home that puts angelenos on a path out of homelessness and into supportive housing.

USER EXPERIENCE: It was important for me to create a space that someone would be proud to live in. I wanted the client to be in love with their new home, enough to want to fight to keep it, or afford something similar to it. The space is applicable for couples or two people, and also can accommodate pets. EFFICIENCY: I became enamored by the quality of Geodesic dome structures. They are earthquake safe, diffuse heat evenly, and are wind and storm resistant. KIT OF PART: These structures would be deployed all around Los Angeles, so the act of constructing and transporting easily is crucial.
