Girlguiding UK will be making sure the Show participants don’t go hungry on the day by distributing lunch.

Who is the new Lord Mayor? What are their plans for the year ahead? Who’s taking part in the Show? What do the ceremonial roles mean? All these questions and much, much more are answered in the official Lord Mayor’s Show programme 2018. It will offer a full run down of all you need to know about the Show as well as being a commemorative souvenir of the event itself. Get to the procession route early if you want a good view, especially if you have kids. Busiest parts are likely to be around St Paul’s and Mansion House but Cheapside, Fleet Street, Victoria Embankment and Queen Victoria Street are usually clearer.

The City has plenty of train, tube and bus links but please check for service changes.

So to really see a year in one day, come along and help celebrate the Lord Mayor’s Show and make it a day to remember.

It may only be one day for onlookers but a Show as large and spectacular as this requires a full year’s worth of planning and organisation.

Costumes, uniforms, music, banners, horses, instruments, vehicles, technology, ceremony, masks, floats and participants of all ages are brought together in a colourful, raucous, vibrant procession to entertain the crowds and welcome the new Lord Mayor to the role.

Guildhall Art Gallery See Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces dating from 1670 to present. Established in 1886 as ‘a Collection of Art Treasures worthy of the capital city,’ the Gallery is home to a range of paintings documenting London’s dramatic history.

Family activities will be available for all to enjoy.

London’s Roman Amphitheatre Step into Roman ruins where crowds once gathered to watch wild animal fights, public executions and gladiatorial combat.

As excitement builds 8 for the 16 November release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, nine giant wands will be displayed on Peter’s Hill.

Created in association with J.K. Rowling’s charity Lumos, which shines a light on children in orphanages around the world, the art installation reflects the magic of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts here in London.

Built to commemorate one of the most renowned events in the City’s history, the Great Fire of London, this colossal column stands 202ft high and remains the tallest isolated stone column in the world. Designed

The annually elected Lord Mayor heads the City of London Corporation. This is the governing body of the City, or Square Mile. It is dedicated to a vibrant and thriving City, supporting a diverse and sustainable London within a globally-successful UK. On a day-to-day basis this means providing local government and policing services; it also means supporting and promoting the City as the financial and commercial heart of the UK; and it means supplying a host of services beyond its statutory duties and the Square Mile that benefit London and the UK.

The City Corporation has three main aims: Supporting a thriving economy The Lord Mayor plays a key role in this area, working with the organisation as a whole, to ensure the City remains a global hub for finance and professional services, commerce and culture.

Mayor spends around 90 days a year leading business delegations abroad to key markets and financial centres. This involves meeting those at the highest level of business and government and promoting the UK’s unrivalled legal and regulatory framework and access to global markets.

Stretching just under a mile from Farringdon to Moorgate, you can wander through winding medieval streets, marvel at some architectural wonders and experience incredible music, theatre and art all in one day. This includes Jason Bruges’ latest kinetic installation Brutalist Tapestry, currently in the Beech Street Tunnel, and Eley Kishimoto’s vibrant Colourful Crossings, outside Barbican tube station.

Walks are free, but a donation to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal is always welcome.
