Girlguiding UK will be making sure the Show participants don’t go hungry on the day by distributing lunch.

Who is the new Lord Mayor? What are their plans for the year ahead? Who’s taking part in the Show? What do the ceremonial roles mean? All these questions and much, much more are answered in the official Lord Mayor’s Show programme 2018. It will offer a full run down of all you need to know about the Show as well as being a commemorative souvenir of the event itself. Copies cost £5 and are available throughout the Show route from one of the many volunteers on hand and can also be pre-ordered online or by phone. Iln.co.uk/lms2018 or 020 7426 1031

Programme There is a dedicated disabled persons’ viewing area at Ludgate Hill. The map inside shows accessible WCs but not all are to full wheelchair access standard. access@cityoflondon.gov.uk 020 7332 1995 lordmayorsshow.london/day/access

Get to the procession route early if you want a good view, especially if you have kids. Busiest parts are likely to be around St Paul’s and Mansion House but Cheapside, Fleet Street, Victoria Embankment and Queen Victoria Street are usually clearer. The City has plenty of train, tube and bus links but please check for service changes. 0343 222 1234 tfl.gov.uk There will be significant road closures and restrictions in place to accommodate the procession so drivers should check in advance. cityoflondon.gov.uk/roadclosures

THE ESSENTIALS

FET TE R LA

So to really see a year in one day, come along and help celebrate the Lord Mayor’s Show and make it a day to remember.

It may only be one day for onlookers but a Show as large and spectacular as this requires a full year’s worth of planning and organisation. Costumes, uniforms, music, banners, horses, instruments, vehicles, technology, ceremony, masks, floats and participants of all ages are brought together in a colourful, raucous, vibrant procession to entertain the crowds and welcome the new Lord Mayor to the role.

FEN CT

The Lord Mayor’s Show is planned in partnership with the City of London Police. cityoflondon.police.uk/staysafe

For more information visit lordmayorsshow.london or call 020 7332 3456 or download the official Show App Why not make sure you get a clear view and a seat from which to enjoy the whole Show by buying tickets for the grandstands? These allow you to enjoy unrestricted views of the procession as it travels to St Paul’s from New Change right in front of your eyes. Fully wheelchair accessible spaces are also available but book early as tickets go fast. Ticket prices include a copy of the official Show programme. 03332 406 003 lordmayorsshow.london/day/grandstands

Best views guaranteed As with the ever-changing City they represent, no two Shows are ever the same but you can expect a mix of tradition and modernity with something for everyone. From the grandeur and splendour of the Lord Mayor’s Coach, accompanied by the Pikemen and Musketeers,

In all more than 7,000 people, 200 horses and around 150 floats will pass in front of you as they travel from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice and back, in a day like no other.
