This issue is dedicated to each of you for being nothing but the best.

We received an overwhelming response to our powerlist, as well as many submissions from new design firms, and we would like to thank everyone. We are unable to accommodate everyone in this edition, but please know that we appreciate your efforts.

The September edition is one to keep, and the reason for that is all of you.

We are also gearing up for the year's biggest event, the Design Middle East Awards 2022. he brand recently held its first open house at its flagship store on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai to showcase the new ter Hürne parquet flooring collection.

Interior designers, architects, and consultants were among those who came to see the new collection.

“With changing trends and preferences, we have seen an increased demand for the wooden flooring, primarily because of its durability, sustainability, and functionality,” Azhar Sajan, director of Casa Milano, said of the new range of parquet flooring.

The real wood floors are made entirely of wood and hand-finished with oils derived from linseed and walnut oil. This ensures clean, unpolluted indoor air and, as a result, increased well-being, health, and, ultimately, quality of life, as certified by the Blue Angel and ECO labels. Ter Hürne floors’ various designs, formats, and surface treatments have something for everyone: Flemish Heritage

floors, for example, allow you to create elegant herringbone or classic cube patterns. The planks from the Unique collection, on the other hand, have different knot contours, heartwood or distinctive cracks, with a lot of colour play or sapwood content.

Hywood is a real wood hybrid floor that is extremely durable. It combines the best of both worlds to create something entirely new. Hywood is completely composed of wood. Nonetheless, Hywood is superior to a standard wood floor because it employs a combination of three new technologies, the most important of which is wood powder. They become highly resistant when combined – to water, deep scratches, pressure marks, and dirt.

Resistant to everything a floor has to deal with on a daily basis when people live on and with it intensively. Moreover, despite its superiority, Hywood is a genuine wood product that offers a natural, sustainable, and healthy home environment. Hywood is for people who love and want wood but do not want to compromise functionality.

ISG delivers Roxy Cinemas in Dubai Hills Mall

I

SG, a global construction services company, has completed the brand-new Roxy Cinemas in Dubai Hills Mall. The impressive leisure attraction is spread across three floors and spans 101,000sqft, with 15 screens and a total capacity of 1183 seats. The first-floor “Roxy Xtreme” cinema screen, which is equipped with state-of-the-art laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound, is a key feature of the project. The Roxy Xtreme screen, which is the size of two tennis courts, provides an unrivalled movie experience, and the auditorium that houses it has ultra-comfortable seating for 382 people.

The ground floor features hand-crafted decorative Italian mosaics, digital display walls and self-serving kiosks with a grand staircase spanning across all three levels, as well as escalators and lifts. The ground floor has metallic finished curved walls that give a grand entrance feel and are a unique feature of Roxy Dubai Hills Mall. The area also has another unique feature which is a “Hall of Fame” where the hand or footprints of the superstars who visit will be placed.

Al-Futtaim IKEA undertook an independent research study of more than 1600 people in the UAE to further understand consumer behaviour when it comes to the space they live in, and if it satisfies their needs and wants with the right amount of rest.

This year’s offering focuses on multifunctional products that can help consumers achieve the right balance between the spaces they live in and overall well-being therefore making

Increasing need for multifunctional products and solutions Based on the research, 80 percent of the respondents agree that their home is a multifunctional space. However, over half of the respondents do not own furniture that will help satisfy their diverse needs.

Whilst the Living Room remains the favourite room in the home, one third of the respondents would like to establish a more multifunctional, creative and organized space with appropriate storage solutions. Over 80 percent of the respondents also agreed that their home atmosphere influences their mood, solidifying the relation between multifunctional homes and personal wellbeing.

Affordability remains priority Al-Futtaim IKEA believes that creating a functional home shouldn’t feel like a luxury for anyone. Affordability is key to the business idea, which is built into every product and service to ensure that many people can enjoy a better life at home.

Despite rising inflation over the years impacting transportation and delivery costs, the brand has not passed these costs on to customers. With no compromise on quality, the prices of over 40% products in UAE remain unchanged.

Al-Futtaim IKEA expands to reach more of the many people Reaching more and more of the many people requires Al-Futtaim IKEA to become more accessible, affordable and sustainable and to enter markets in new and optimized ways. As a part of its expansion plan and with the aim of providing a better shopping experience and more products and solutions, the IKEA store in the Abu Dhabi City Center is expanding to a two-floor store.

The collection point in Al Ain will also be upgraded to a four times bigger store.

xpo City Dubai is gearing up to open on October 1, building on Expo 2020 Dubai’s pledge to inspire future generations.

Ahead of the official opening of the Expo City Dubai site in October, visitors are invited to experience two of its most popular pavilions from 1 September, with the re-opening of Alif – The Mobility Pavilion and Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion marking the first chapter of Expo City Dubai’s journey.

Tickets, which cost AED 50 per person per pavilion, are available at www.expocitydubai. com, and can be purchased at four box offices at Expo City Dubai from 1 September. Garden in the Sky, with its breathtaking 360-degree views, will also open on 1 September, with tickets priced at AED 30 each. Attractions are free for children aged 12 and under and People of Determination.

ver the course of seven years, despite economic downturns and pandemic challenges, Joe Tabet persevered, developed a vision/mission, planned everything around the future, from business strategy to financial situation, and began looking for work in different geographies and other sectors such as healthcare.

Tabet is a multi-faceted visionary architect with over 20 years of professional experience in the global architecture and construction industry. He founded JT&Partners in 2015, with a small team in a +100sqm office in Business Bay, Dubai. gnacio Gomez, born in Andalusia, Spain in 1975, earned a Master of Architecture and Engineering with Honors from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, ETSAM, as well as a postgraduate programme in Museography and Exhibition Spaces from the Foundation Antonio Camuas, Centro Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid, Spain.

Gomez has over 19 years of professional experience in architecture and has established himself as a key design architect in the region with a growing portfolio of

projects recognised for their brilliance since migrating to the Middle East in 2006.

Gomez feels that automation and rapidly evolving technology are altering the design and construction industries, enabling engineers and architects to better harness the power of data, manage risk, and improve efficiency.

Gomez talks about the future of cities: “Future cities will be similar to cities of the past in some ways while also being very different. When we consider the evolution of the city over millennia, the reality is that

the physical aspects of it have not changed fundamentally – housing groups, social interaction spaces, trading, and so on. As a result, the hardware will essentially already exist and will not be replaced at the rate at which technology evolves. Software, Big Data, and AI are here to stay and are evolving at a rate that the city and its physical environment cannot keep up with. What is also surprising is that big transformations in city design are not and will not involve urban planners and architects. The changes are made by a concentrated number of IT companies that are developing applications and platforms that will redefine the way we interact with others and move around.”

His designs earned him the title of “Young Architect of the Year” at the Middle East Architect Awards 2010, while his Red Sea Riviera Master Plan was named Best Residential Project of the Year at the same event.

One of the current trends in architecture and the overall construction market is the commoditisation of design projects to some extent. Gomez comments: “Design solutions appear to be evolving into products that can be transplanted across multiple locations and contexts almost without typological variation. This is a by-product of the concentration and creation of the mega engineering firms. In the last few years, we have seen how engineering firms have been joining and merging together, creating huge conglomerates never seen before in the construction market. The size of these engineering firms cannot be compared with the size of architectural practices, and therefore the product (the design of buildings) is somehow becoming commoditised and generic, losing its particularity and specificity.”

Killa's design philosophy focusses on innovative low-carbon sustainable buildings and challenges architectural norms to create expressive and timeless forms, which has led him

Killa Design was founded in Dubai in 2015, and he has worked on award-winning projects such as the Museum of the Future, the Address Beach Resort, W hotel Namaste, Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club, Marsa Al Arab, Sheybarah Island, Aykon Twin Towers, and the Office of the Future, the world's first occupied printed building.

In 2017 and in 2021, Killa was ranked number 1 as ‘Most Powerful Middle East Architect’ inclusive of winning ‘Best Architectural Firm’ in the Middle East, by Construction Week and ‘Boutique Firm of the Year’, at the Middle East Architect Awards, 2017.

This year, RSP celebrated the opening of Dubai's newest favourite hangout spot, Aura Skydeck, the world's tallest 360-degree infinity pool, at Nakheel's Palm Tower, one of Magilll's largest projects to date. Michael is currently designing a 5-star hotel tower in Dubai, an exclusive 72,00sqm ultra-luxury resort in Abu Dhabi, and a Wellness Centre in Fujairah, which will explore an entirely different hospitality offering. Visitors will be able to experience personalised programmes to restore balance, increased vitality, and an overall healthier mental and physical state through treatment clinics, various spas, fitness zones, and a small academy at the Wellness Centre.

He also led the team who won design competition last year for a prominent 5-start hotel in KSA which led to RSP being awarded Design Architects for pre-contract stages.

This year, RSP was awarded two mixeduse projects in Indonesia, the newest location of yet another RSP studio. Both projects, which are located in Manado and Sentul, are retail and hospitality developments. The design for the two projects is currently underway, with Magill personally leading the design team.

RSP is currently completing residential projects such as Majid Al Futtaim's high-end Tilal Al Ghaf villas, luxury beachfront apartments in the Palm, and mansions in Kampot, Cambodia.

Magill has consistently demonstrated his well-rounded leadership skills, successfully managing and leading RSP over the years, particularly the challenging last two years in which he has managed to grow the team to a size greater than the pre-pandemic size. Consistent success has resulted in the expansion of our office space in Dubai. He has also

RSP’s first project went live on Decentraland recently- a floating NFT gallery nexus with an infinity helix platform cycling through the viewing platforms. The building features a unique kinetic skin facade,

implemented a full hybrid work setup with a very flexible schedule that allows employees to work from home when they want.

His family-oriented approach to working with coworkers has enabled him to build a well-trusting workforce that continuously helps one another, earning him the respect and admiration of many RSP employees.

ith over 16 years of experience, Mohamed Ali is the design director at RMJM. He worked on over 40 projects, including high and mid-rise residential buildings, hotels, mixed-use, retail, commercial, industrial, and office buildings.

Many of RMJM’s existing clients are significant developers in the GCC, such as Emaar, Meraas Holding, Sorouh, DSOA, TDIC, TECOM, Omniyat, RAK Properties, Sharjah Holding, PIF, Masar, Thakher, Misk and Qiddiya. Ali believes that they bring a refreshing new attitude to the development of the countries - in particular to the mixed commercial residential developments - where densification creates an 'urban hub'.

He is currently working on a number of significant projects, including Thakher Gardens, a model world-class development that will be commercially sustainable, vibrant, and connected. It will serve as a gateway destination for Makkah and Thakher City through its architectural expression. Another example of a high-level development is the Innovation Hub - the new business park is a contemporary A-grade office floor plate with high efficiency, flexibility, and internal space quality. Google and other major corporations have already relocated their headquarters there. The recently opened Hills Park in Dubai Hills Estate epitomises modern living in harmony with nature. In a country-village setting, it consists of elegantly planned neighbourhoods of contemporary apartment buildings and villa compounds.

Ali is part of the innovators of the industry. Several of his projects focus on bridging the gap between design and technology, besides architectural design, he runs RMJM PIM - the studio that combines the latest technologies and international design standards with a collaborative mentality, resulting in a seamless and efficient delivery service.

In his opinion, buildings and spaces are the physical expressions of complex cultural meanings, social interactions, and community requirements. They can be entertaining, motivating, instructive, and visually appealing, all while promoting rich cultural practices. He believes strongly in the concepts of functionality, design, and the use of environmentally friendly materials.

Ali believes that the GCC region is one of the best places to experiment with urban technology. In the race to develop smart cities, all eyes should be on Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom provides distinct perspectives on how technology can be used to improve public spaces and other areas.

Architects can create designs that will last a long time by focusing on the needs of the growing community, and technology will play a central role in smart cities, with shared data and information to improve efficiency and connectivity for homes, businesses, and transportation systems. Smart city technologies can create a platform for two-way communication between citizens and cities on a small scale.

Ali says: “My leadership model is transparency: the ability to listen and act, while being responsible for the final decision. It is a tough job that requires a lot of strength to keep progress in a perfect balance between capabilities and requirements. Yet to be achieved by simply being.”

Ali's role as a design director is to create places that feel inclusive, vibrant, and meaningful by using a holistic design approach and taking into account the local context.

He consistently demonstrates consistent leadership for activities centred on project direction and planning,

His niche was revealed after four years of studies at NYSID. Guelaff was the first recipient of the B.F. A. andra Woodall is a passionate environmentalist, architect, urbanist, and researcher based in the Middle East for over 25 years and is the design director at tangramGULF, who deliver diverse social infrastructure projects in the MENA region.

Upon arriving in the UAE she lived in a traditional desert community at the time of urban transformation and expansion, which ignited a lifelong commitment to broadening an understanding of desert urbanism and the delivery of regionally significant schemes that respect and respond to local climatic, environmental, and cultural sustainability needs.

Her following work demonstrated the usage of traditional materials and methods of construction in the regeneration and development of Sharjah’s historic Arts and Heritage Area, ensuring that traditional building construction techniques were used in the development of the House of Poetry, which was one of the very last new-build projects in the UAE to utilise traditional coral stone and timber construction techniques and practices.

In the 2000’s she designed a series of 11 community based social infrastructure projects delivered in 7 years across Dubai, in the heart of growing neighbourhoods, incorporating contextually contemporary solutions that address climatic responsive design with passive sustainable principles in a fabric first approach and designed the first ever Green-Roofed government building in Dubai.

This next generation of healthcare facilities will be more resilient and through telemedicine platforms which have grown in familiarity and usage over the last couple of years, will be better connected to smarter, digitised, intelligent ecosystems within both the city, the community and home. Utilising affordable remote diagnostics and monitoring via sensors, apps, and equipment connected to smartphones.

To support this healthcare innovation that is embracing MedTech and acquiring a new digital identity that utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI), and

using technology as an exponent of sustainability, the spaces for hospital without walls’ clinical consultations are proposed to be located in the Metaverse. No longer limited to the “playground” methodology that was first envisaged, patients will be able to meet remotely with their clinical teams within AI designed spaces developed by the newly formed tangramMETA team. No longer incorporating the costs of structure, of building fabric or of building and medical services installations. Calming interior designs and music can be produced to support the healing environment that is within a virtual location that does not impose on any other patient or staff activity within a costly clinical setting.

The airstreams are directed across water pools to collect droplets which are naturally carried and evaporate on impact to cool the high-performance glazed facades, shaded with contemporary mashrabiyas to further reduce solar gain.

Traditional materials were used in a contemporary manner, providing thermal mass and storage to sink and dissipate heat during the cool evening period.

Key to sustainable approaches is the introduction of nature to promote good health and wellbeing for the benefit of all building occupants and is a key element for all of tangram’s projects, where the therapeutic effects of biophilic design is incorporated.

Currently under construction is the cancer hospital for women and children in Algeria, where the design of the healing environment draws from the surrounding forest landscapes. Woodall introduced an atrium containing a winter garden for patients at the country’s first ever Stem Cell Transplant Unit. Here immunosuppressed children must endure months of isolated inpatient recovery and are accommodated in healing pods that are built into the garden to benefit from views that are encapsulated by nature. tangram’s further expansion into North Africa recently saw their studio in Cairo open, where they have been invited to design a new “Hospital of the Future” prototype for Egypt’s New Republic. Designed in accordance with the World Health Organisation’s 7 elements of a climate friendly hospital, tangram are working to achieve a radical reduction in carbon, energy, water, and waste footprints.

She is a trained architect and sustainability specialist who has received numerous awards for her work in a variety of sectors including commercial, hospitality, and residential. The Accor House of Original in Dubai, Sensasia spa at Kempinski Dubai, and Mckinsey HQ in Doha are among the most recent projects.

She was born in India, raised in Dubai, and worked in London for many years; her designs reflect these diverse influences. She is a former design professor who strives to incorporate the most recent theoretical and practical research into the firm's designs.

Pallavi worked with Artemide as a product designer to launch 'Interweave,' an interactive lighting system for Euro Luce in Milan 2019. Her work has been featured in some of the world's most prestigious international publications, including the Financial Times, the BBC, Monocle, Wallpaper, and Architectural Digest.

She was named Architectural Digest Middle East Designer of the Year in 2020 and Designer of the Year globally by Interior Design Magazine in the 2021.

ince the late 1990s, Paul Bishop has been paving the way in the world of interior design by breaking boundaries with revolutionary creations. He is the owner of leading design firm Bishop Design, which has offices in Dubai and Miami, and he is the humble winner of six Interior Designer of the Year awards from prestigious awarding bodies between 2018 and 2021.

Bishop is currently working on a number of high-profile projects, including Mesa - Terra Solis, which will be brought by music festival Tomorrowland, five unique venues that will characterise Riyadh's F&B scene in the Laysen Valley Development, and the addition of eccentric, Colombian-inspired restaurant En Fuego to Atlantis The Palm, to name a few.

With his presence expanding in promising locations such as the United States and Saudi Arabia, Paul is establishing a strong design influence within each demographic, with Dubai remaining the largest in his portfolio. Bishop is responsible for inspiring the next generation of young designers, in addition to taking a Dubai-born agency international. BOTTOM TALABAT HQ, CITY WALK- DUBAI The general design concept of all of Talabat’s offices is distinctive by the use of open spaces and urban industrial décor elements. This is evident in the proposed design where a futuristic story is visibly told by depiction from motorbikes to robots as well as drones, and eventually to spacemen.

The first is Talabat's new global headquarters at City Walk, which spans approximately 15,000m2 of tech-office space. For over 2,000 employees, the design includes ergonomically enabling spaces that encourage creative development, spatial flexibility, and technology-driven workspaces. While retaining Talabat's brand identity, the design incorporates elements such as innovation tech-pods, digital team rooms, and wireless digital walls. The design incorporates greenery, a vertical height garden, and other organic materials to account for sustainability and biophilia.

In parallel to designing Talabat’s 15,00sqm HQ, Mahsa also completed the design of Dubai Holdings, Dubai Outsource City (DOC) covering 8,000m2 of common area over 8 buildings.

It is widely acknowledged that technology is a critical tool, and as a standard practise, Mahsa employs 3Ds Max and Rhino for modelling, as well as V Ray and Vantage Design on all projects to provide clients and contractors with high-quality 3D rendering. However, it is the constantly evolving Virtual Reality that provides clients with an exciting experience, allowing them to step into a holographic projection of their space.

Mahsa explains: “It is this level of care and client involvement that clearly promotes return business and referrals, it brings the human touch back into projects of all scale with no discrimination.”

When describing Design by Mahsa, the term "boutique" can be misleading; in fact, the corporate philosophy adopted the term "boutique" to describe the personal and bespoke approach to each design and project. It is clear that Design

asushree Mohta is an award-winning designer who has worked in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East for over 18 years. Her design philosophy is centred on the end user experience, and she takes into account the various influences that shape our daily lives.

Whether it's a national strategy or a tactical urban insert, Mohta focusses on creating inclusive, sustainable, and high-quality design experiences.

As part of her role, she oversees the complete planning and development process,

starting from creating a vision to translating it into an implementable project. Mohta has been directly involved in several significant master plan projects in the Middle East.

Most recently, she has been working on a number of flagship projects supporting Saudi Vision 2030, including the Diriyah Gate master plan, which won the silver accolade for Future Projects – Urban Design Category at The World Architecture News (WAN) Awards in 2021. While the studio does not have a specific design style due to the wide range of projects we work on, Designsmith does have design ideologies and core principles that define the outcome of each project.

Their designs are deeply researched, allowing the firm to deliver contextual solutions that are specific in nature, culturally relevant, and go beyond our clients' basic briefs. Much of this stems from our technical expertise and inquisitiveness as designers, who ask the right questions and write the right briefs to define our clients' requirements. As a result, Designsmith never knows the outcome of any project until the brief has been reworked from various perspectives and experiences. The user eventually takes centre stage, and the story lines are built around that experience.

Sanganee explains: “We'd like to think of ourselves as a 34-yearold start-up redefining the industry landscape with out-of-the-box designs backed by experience and technical support. Our studio has been expanding year after year for several years, and we now have a team of over 30 designers. Our design innovations are primarily the result of a collaboration between our senior lead designers and junior designers. The younger designers bring a tech and software flair that allows for extensive experimentation, whereas the senior designers constantly innovate while keeping our design philosophies in mind. To

be honest, this is a beautiful blend that allows for great innovation and understanding of space. With seven nationalities on the design team, it is the cultural diversity that distinguishes each project.”

Technology and smart solutions will be the future of stakeholder management. “We've made great strides in our app development, creating a portal for clients and us to stay on the same page, from the inquiry stage to sample approvals, project plans, and delivery deadlines.

This will change the game in terms of key stakeholder relationships, allowing all information to be accessed at a glance. As our trials are nearing completion, we hope to have this up and running by the end of the year. Technology and smart solutions will be the future of key stakeholder management,” he adds.

Designsmith is currently working on a few innovative F&B and wellness concepts. Winter is typically a busy time for businesses across the country, and with a thriving real estate market, the firm has landed some fantastic hotel renovations, luxury homes, and commercial projects.

uhammad Habsah is an associate at U+A. He also serves as the American Institute of Architects Middle East Chapter's Director of Communications.

Habsah, who was born in 1989, graduated from Cairo University of Architecture in 2011. In 2014, the 33-year-old architect began working for a regional company in Egypt before deciding to relocate to Dubai and pursue the career path he had always desired.

He was recently named "Highly Commended Architect" at the Design Middle East Architecture Leaders Awards 2022. He has also received numerous awards, including the WAF 2016 and 2018 in the "Future Residential Projects" category. Habsah also won two AIA awards for best future projects.

Habsah’s most recent completed design for the "Desert Nest", Qatar's pavilion at Floriade Expo 2022, entered the Guinness Book as the tallest tower made of concrete using 3D printing technology and using sustainable materials. This design was in keeping with Qatar's vision of turning the desert into greener areas and creating cities that are oases of green.

Habsah's design philosophy is focussed on the production of architectural projects influenced by local culture, heritage, and identity, with an approach that integrates technology with the natural environment and a strong integration of architecture with landscape.

Throughout the GCC and Africa, he has also designed residential developments, public spaces, hospitality developments, cultural institutions, and healthcare facilities. His architectural concepts and endeavours are always a reflection of his love of diversity and uniqueness.

His long-term goal is to help individuals of all backgrounds to have shelter. He sees his role as an architect as a responsibility to use his influence to design houses in needy areas.

abidha S. Rahman's dream of becoming an interior designer was fueled by the time she spent around her father's design-build factories, construction sites, and client meetings after moving to Dubai in 1988.

She earned a bachelor's degree in interior design from San Jose State University in California.

She returned to Dubai after working with WESKE+associates, an architecture firm in San Francisco, and made a name for herself in healthcare, commercial, and residential projects.

In 2017, she established Design Matter.

In a short period of time, she transformed Design Matter from a one-woman army to an award-winning firm with a team of eight handling a diverse range of projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and India.

The practice has seen an increase in the number and size of projects over the last year, with multiple projects nominated for leading awards across the country.

Landmark projects - GJ, Hospital, Clinics

This year, Design Matter designed three residential towers totaling 76 floors for the highly diversified local real-estate company, GJ Real Estate. They gave their brand a global and contemporary appeal to set it apart from the typical Ajman residential towers. As a result, their customer satisfaction skyrocketed, having a direct and positive impact on unit purchases and rentals.

In the last year, Rahman has led her team to complete designs for six clinics (38,000sqft) and luxurious transformations for two hospitals for global healthcare group, Aster DM Healthcare.

Since 2020, her team has renovated 28 prestigious mansions on the Palm and Emirates Hills, including 16 in the last year alone. These designs and upgrades had a seismic impact on the vacation rental industry, breaking numerous rental records, as documented in local business publications.

Design Matter has worked on a variety of retail projects in 2022, from a flower shop to nutrition retail spaces. They collaborated closely with Dolce e Fiore to create a dynamic, multifunctional, and exciting space in Nad Al

Design Matter is working on some exciting projects. She and her team are currently working on an 18,000-square-foot space for Wellth Wellness Center, Jumeirah by Aster DM Healthcare. The DM Team was given the opportunity to experiment with how to perceive holistic wellness in a space. Aside from that, current commercial projects include a new office space in JLT and a retail rebranding study for Aster Opticals.Design Matter is also working on six beachfront residential towers in Ajman for GJ Real Estate; a number of residential projects in Abu Dhabi, including a six-bedroom private villa and a high-end private apartment in JLT; and multiple luxury holiday villas in preparation for FIFA tourists.

Rahman's leadership is focussed on diversifying into new creative ventures and visions. It's a multi-level position that allows me to be present in all aspects of the business while not micromanaging the teams and encouraging development and ownership of their work,” explains Nikki Bisiker.

Current projects for the brand include a new build in Dubai Jumeirah Islands, a flagship restaurant in Yas Bay, Abu Dhabi, renovations at Address Hotel, and property in DIFC. "In terms of expansion plans, we intend to enter extensive property development with

different parties in London, Paris, Dubai, and Geneva, while continuing to focus on our individual clients and creating beautiful homes. The furniture line expansion will be completed this autumn and extensively marketed at the start of the new year. This is a culmination of many of our previous designs, as well as the introduction of new designs and finishes, which we will continue to do on a regular basis. Additionally, we'll start a rug design business, and we'll shortly start designing lighting fixtures,” Bisiker comments.

She talks about her creative influences: “My imagination and thinking are the main sources of my creative inspiration, and I strive to be innovative in many facets of design. Although they are useful as a source of inspiration and a mental doorway, I detest repeated allusions to Pinterest and Instagram. Even though smart cities are setting the trend, Bisiker believes that the general public still prefers soulful and thoughtful living to digital life, even though it is evident that we are all seeking sustainable living to build a healthy world in the future. She says: "The promotion of circular economies, human welfare, and sustainability are key elements in the future. Although I myself prefer a life with few technology conveniences and prefer to live near green fields, mountains, and flowing streams, circumstances are changing quickly. What are the high points of your professional career?

In my professional career, I've had several high points. In the UAE, I began my career as a sales manager in the fit-out industry with Cloisall Company. For three years in a row, I was named Best Producer in Sales Achievement. Within five years, I was promoted to sales director, responsible for all sales operations in the UAE, Qatar, and Oman.

Of course, being in my current position at Universal Trading Company (UTC) is a highlight because I'll be able to leverage all of the industry relationships I've developed to help the company grow. It's a great place to work, and our market presence is well-established as a result of our relationships. We've been able to grow tremendously in the UAE the last three years.

The UAE is known for being forward-thinking and at the forefront of design ideation.

Is logistics a problem when sourcing products from Germany? Do you have a manufacturing facility in the Middle East?

One of the best things about working with a brand like Nolte is that the company has nearly a century of experience that yields seamless logistics. All the products are manufactured from the company's production facilities in Germany. This allows the company to control efficiency and quality.

All of our appliance brands, AEG, IGNIS, and Deutz, are also 100% made in Germany. These brands have years of experience in manufacturing their products in their facilities.

When the products arrive in the UAE, we take care of the installation process from beginning to end.

It’s one of the reasons we’ve had such success in the market. We know customers want to be able to deal directly with a company where they are.

(Working) from home has become more popular as a result of COVID-19 and families are spending more time together than ever before. What types of kitchen requests do you receive from customers now?

What does the future of kitchen design look like?

We’re seeing kitchens that are becoming a part of open space designs, merging effortlessly with living areas. It’s not something that has been particularly typical of kitchens in the Middle East but as California-style homes become more prevalent in the region, we’ll see more airy designs and open floor plans.

What is the most difficult aspect of setting up the kitchen?

We’re professionals and have been in this industry for years. Things of course come up but we always find a solution and a way to make our customers happy. Honestly, the most difficult part for our customers is picking an option! Nolte and our

What qualities do you think make this property stand out?

In the current market, what we are seeing is high demand for premier properties, but limited supply at the level of quality this project is being delivered. Moreover, these properties are investor friendly, offering great value and fantastic prospective for rent yields at 5-6%.

Is sustainability important for this project? If so, how do you work it into your designs?

The building employs advanced district cooling systems with operations, production, distribution and maintenance carried out remotely in an advanced, highly controlled technical environment.

The advanced return HVAC system ensures fresh air is circulated in & out of the building to keep the air much cleaner than a traditional system.

How do you foresee the luxury residential market evolving over the next five years?

In the short term, we are seeing positive and sustained growth in the luxury segment as Dubai’s real estate sector continues to be a beacon of resilience against a backdrop of global geopolitical and economic uncertainty. In recent months we are seeing investors from the UK, India and Germany driving demand, with many of our buyers looking for ready properties such as 1 Residences and branded addresses.

Dubai is already a leading world capital for branded residences, and we only see demand for branded residences rising in the future.
