who uses it?
Currently, the Harrye B. Lyons Design Library is primarily used by undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Design, according to survey results.

People forget it’s there

Currently, the design library causes visitors to feel forced to use it in only one way: silently and professionally.
People want to have a space where they have the choice to either enjoy the space collaboratively or independently and feel comfortable doing so.

Our approach to branding the design library focuses on the collaboration and overlap between design focuses
How do we achieve this?
Our approach to branding the design library focuses on the
collaboration and overlap between design focuses
Interdisciplinary events, seminars, and workshops Events focusing on offering opportunities to learn and experience design methods from many different focuses and skillsets
Allow students to create projects in areas outside of their specific majors as well as work with one another and build upon each others’ skills and knowledge.
Spacious lounge areas & comfortable seating
Transforms the library environment into one that will welcome collaboration and socialization.
Offer space for independent work
Alongside collaborative work and lounge spaces, the library will continue to offer private study areas for students who need to work and focus by themselves.
Colorful accents/aesthetic
Implementing more warm, playful, inviting colors within the decor and signage of the library will bring a more lively and welcoming feel as well as evoke creativity from visitors.
