Innovative Landscape Designs Exceeding Client Expectations

By Meredith Collins

Landscapes are both practical and aesthetic. They provide functional walkways and driveways, as well as space for recreation and entertaining. Landscaping with certain trees and plants can offer shade to cool your home. The flow of rain water and erosion control can be incorporated into your landscape plan. Professional landscape designs provide a beautiful setting for enjoying nature… might even improve your outlook on life!

Let Kevin Sipe and his team at Scenic View Landscapes transform your lawn and gardens into a scenic view. The niche of Scenic View is creating landscapes, hardscapes, water features, and outdoor lighting. With a focus on landscape design, they offer complementary services like mowing and lawn maintenance for their clients.

Kevin sees his role as a coach and communicator. As owner, Kevin’s work is mainly sales, meeting with clients to learn what they want in a landscape plan and then communicating those ideas to his team. “We have a mission statement that guides and directs our decisions and actions throughout the day,” Kevin said. “Our mission is to ‘strive for excellence in creative design innovation, professional integrity, and quality business practices that exceed client expectations.’ If we can all align in this same mission and our core values, we should all be making similar movements.”

Currently, Scenic View’s nine team members work in threes with two office staff and two part-time mechanics who maintain the equipment. Kevin routes teams and logistics to keep things running smoothly. “We really focus on the details,” Kevin said. “I think this is key to making customers happy. If you remember the smallest of details, your customers will be pleased and keep coming back.”

Kevin creates customer satisfaction by using technology and software to keep everyone on the same page. “We run different types of software to help us with the logistical side of the business,” Kevin said.

“All our teams carry iPads, and we share pictures and information with each other throughout the day. This really allows us to do a lot with a small number of people. Our communication is important to make sure that clients get what they are telling us they want.”

When Kevin develops project proposals, his written details outline the project. These specifics go into the work order that the teams work from, plus additional notes with in-depth details are included. “Pictures are huge,” he said. “If we can get something in some kind of picture view, that is helpful for everyone to visualize it through our software.”

Overall, Kevin approaches every day as a gift, an outlook that he has adopted during his wife’s battle with metastatic breast cancer. “We’ve been blessed with building relationships and keeping some of our clients for almost two decades now,” Kevin said. “We don’t take being able to perform work on someone’s property as a right. It’s an absolute gift and blessing that they’ve asked us to be on their personal and private properties. Our work can be difficult, especially in the heat. We work in the hot and the cold and during the most beautiful times of the year. If we think about our day and the opportunity we have to work on these properties as a gift and a blessing, that changes our outlook. We have to put people first. That’s how I look at every day. I feel very blessed to be able to do what I do.”
