Mexico born Ramon Alonso graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Anáhuac University, Mexico in the 90’s and moved on to collaborate with multiple international museums and pavilions and has directed the design and execution on several large scale commercial projects, custom residences, private aircrafts and superyachts. RADYCA was formed by Alonso in 2016 and is based in Miami but has a strong presence in Mexico. What are you currently working on? Several Superyacht Projects & a land based residential.

Tell us a little about this projects? Aquamarine 50m, 50m secret refit, 70m Secret project in Germany, several residential projects in Fisher island FL, and penthouses in Miami and Chicago.

How would you describe your work/design style /ethos? RADYCA’s core values are to recognize and integrate culture into their designs while striving to transcend incorporating tradition and innovation, always inspired by sophistication.

How long have you worked in this sector? Over 25+ years of collective experience in the field

Please describe the project you are most proud of to date, with reasons why this was a success? 55m superyacht Laurentia, because of the design challenge and time efficiency.

Please describe a highlight of your career to date. First Mexican designer to be finalist at World Super Yacht Awards on several occasions.

How did achieving this make you feel? It provided great future opportunities.

What inspires you? The ocean

What motivates you? My loved ones

Where in the world do you like to retreat to? Cap d’Antibes

Where and how do you find support? Always with my amazing team, & my couple.

Where do you find comfort? At home

Has the recent global pandemic changed the way in which you work? Yes, design will be more efficient and more technology oriented.

Has it changed your outlook? It has amplified it. Distance is no longer a limit to design.

How do you feel it has changed the world? It has made us more aware of the importance of the human and personal connections and shown us how to find a better balance between work and personal life.

How will it change the global design sector? Work flows have become remote.

What are your thoughts on the future of design? More and better spaces to live and work and a heavier cloud base.

Please tell us your aims for the next twelve months and beyond. A lot of people have their eye on South Florida, we aim to help with their transition there and capture this market niche trying to solve their post pandemic needs. It is also our aim to find a balance to make more efficient projects in time and budget.

What would be your key piece of advice for emerging designers right now? Set the trend, don’t follow it.
