A note from Joanne... emerging and established designers continue to push the boundaries, in terms both of technology and aesthetic design – and so when the time comes each year work through applications from those wishing to be included as one of The World’s Leading Design Names, it is always a difficult choice; but our aim is to bring together a broad mix of talents, from those whose work is diverse both culturally and in geographic terms as well as from a purely aesthetic perspective. The World’s Leading Design Names is one of those issues that everyone wants to be part of and
readers wait eagerly to receive each year. This year, we have put together a definitive collection of designers, some of whom you have seen many times, and whose work is a consistent presence at the pinnacle of the global design sector; others have been included for the first time, not because they are new designers, but because their work has caught the attention in recent times of a global elite. Together, the combination of work, experiences and achievements makes an interesting read, as we talk to designers about their work, design philosophies and theories, vision and plans for the future. GIOVANNI COSTANTINO CEO THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP Since founding The Italian Sea Group in 2009, Giovanni Costantino has established the company as one of the defining forces within the contemporary superyacht sector. Through the strategic expansion of brands including Admiral, Tecnomar, Perini Navi and Picchiotti, alongside a commitment to vertical integration, innovation and Italian craftsmanship, Costantino has shaped a shipyard group recognised for highly customised yachts that combine architectural ambition with technical precision. Under his leadership, the Group continues to evolve its design language through collaborations with globally respected luxury brands while maintaining a strong focus on engineering excellence, sustainability and artisanal quality. In this conversation, Costantino reflects on leadership, collaboration, innovation and the future direction of the superyacht industry.

Could you provide an overview of your role as CEO and your vision for the business? In a complex industrial environment, the CEO’s role lies in the translation of decisions into action. At The Italian Sea Group, every project is unique; each yacht embodies technical complexity, significant economic value, and high expectations from her demanding owner. Such conditions require constant alignment across design, construction and the supply chain. This equilibrium rests on the integrity of information, the discipline of processes and the clarity of responsibilities. If inconsistent or non-aligned behaviours emerge, the system requires immediate intervention. At that moment, the CEO step sin: defining the scope, initiating independent analyses, restoring data transparency and bringing the system back to coherence. Under pressure, leadership acts without hesitation –maintaining clarity, taking responsibility and resolving deviations, bringing each project back to a point of balance. The vision has already set the direction and values, and this is what enables action to be immediate, consistent and recognisable throughout the entire value chain. How do you position the shipyard within today’s superyacht market, and what differentiates your approach from others? The Italian Sea Group operates at the very top end of the superyacht segment, where uniqueness is an essential requirement. With a distinctive focus on large ultra-custom yachts – true expressions of vision, research and innovation – the Group has developed a value-oriented industrial model built on a strong manufacturing culture, specialised expertise, advanced infrastructure and direct control of the supply chain. In this context, the appointment of Gianmaria Costantino as Chief Commercial Officer has strengthened the commercial structure and clarified the Group’s market positioning, defining a distinct product scope for each brand: Admiral for large custom and semi-custom yachts; Tecnomar for sporty and contemporary solutions; Picchiotti as an interpreter of the spirit of the times, capable of translating cultural and design evolution into a contemporary language; and Perini Navifor high-end sailing yachts. At the same time, collaborations with international partners such as Giorgio Armani and Automobili Lamborghini have expanded the design language, captured new sensibilities and fostered dialogue with an emerging generation of owners characterised by more conscious, cross-sector and experience-driven purchasing models. Celi, a historic cabinetry atelier with over a century of heritage, ensures continuity of tradition and direct control over interior craftsmanship, while NCA Refit oversees routine and extraordinary maintenance activities, including the most complex refits, completing the Group’s vertically integrated model across the entire lifecycle of the yacht. How do you balance design ambition with the practical realities of engineering, build quality and delivery? Every yacht we build is a work of art: architecture guides the creative process, and beauty inspires every decision, reflecting a philosophy deeply rooted in Tuscany, where we observe the world with a strong eye for harmony and perfection in every detail. In this context, design and feasibility engage in dialogue with beauty from the very beginning, also thanks to the continuous collaboration between the Centro Stile and Research &Development departments. This ongoing exchange ensures that what we imagine is transformed into a concrete and tangible reality. We never create an “ordinary” yacht: every project is unique, capable of surprising and
14 The World’s Leading Design Names
captivating, while always maintaining the highest standards of reliability and construction quality. In your view, what role does the shipyard play in shaping the final design of a yacht? The shipyard plays a central and decisive role. Design begins with the concept: it takes shape, evolves and is refined throughout the construction process. The shipyard is an integral – and above all active – part of the creative process. When the owner expresses preferences, needs and desires, our Centro Stile interprets them, develops them and transforms them into an authentic and original project. How do you approach collaboration with designers, naval architects and owners to ensure a cohesive end result? Collaboration is essential; nevertheless, it requires a single, clear direction. The shipyard bears the responsibility of coordinating all trades, maintaining coherence and vision in order to bring an owner’s wishes to life. Owners must be listened to, involved and guided. Our role is to translate their dream into something that truly works. This also applies to prestigious partnerships, such as the one between Admiral and Giorgio Armani. It is a dialogue between different forms of excellence, where the language of haute couture meets that of naval engineering, with its rules, constraints and complexity. The project is born precisely from the interaction between these two worlds: on one side, an extraordinary stylistic vision; on the other, the responsibility to translate it into something technically feasible, safe and high performing. Where are you currently focusing innovation within the shipyard – whether in technology, sustainability, materials or build processes? For us, innovation takes shape across multiple dimensions. A yacht is a complete production ecosystem. We invest in advanced digital tools, develop solutions to reduce environmental impact and adopt more efficient and integrated production processes. We pay particular attention to materials, using noble materials such as steel and aluminium. Innovation means introducing new solutions while continuously improving the entire system. How do you see the superyacht industry evolving over the next 5–10 years, particularly from a shipyard perspective? The superyacht market is continuously growing and will become even more selective. Owners are increasingly demanding, both in terms of quality and reliability, and in their pursuit of innovative and sustainable solutions. The industry is also experiencing a generational and cultural transition: new owners are seeking new design languages, more sustainable and technologically advanced products. In addition, they tend to favour large, fully custom yachts integrated with hybrid and sustainable technologies. As for us, we will continue to follow the course we have already set, strengthening and further developing it by increasingly combining artisanal excellence with technological innovation. What are your priorities for the future of the shipyard, and what excites you most about the next phase of growth? Our purposes are clear: to grow, to strengthen ourselves and to continue improving. The sector offers significant opportunities, and the market is constantly evolving. This context allows us to implement innovative solutions, bringing extraordinary projects to life both in aesthetic and technical terms, while never leaving behind the tradition and craftsmanship that distinguish us.

Can you share an overview of your background in design and your current role? I started out in my career as a carpentry, restorer apprentice, with studies in art history and a BS in transportation design from the Art Centre College of Design, before moving into that industry and working with some of the best-known car and yacht brands in the world. That experience all contributes to my current role as Senior Director Interior Design Studio at Jet Aviation, where I lead a team of some 24 talented designers. My role bridges creativity and strategy. I guide the vision for fully bespoke interiors for business aviation that push the boundaries of design, technology, and materials. Each day is a balance of mentoring the team, challenging convention, and ensuring our work reflects the highest levels of safety, comfort, precision and innovation, to deliver the ultimate customer experience. What projects are you currently working on, and can you share any details with us? While I cannot share the specifics, we are working on a number of narrow- and wide-body projects. Each is truly bespoke to each individual customer, serving their unique preferences and priorities. Each customer has their own vision and requirements when it comes to aesthetics, technology integration and cabin experience. We also continue to explore the frontier of aviation interior design in our concept cabins. These projects give us the creative flexibility to demonstrate what can be achieved at the forefront of the industry, while continuing to balance form and function, not to mention feasibility, which is always the priority in a highly regulated industry such as aviation. How important is communication in the design process? Given the bespoke nature of the interiors we design, produce and install for our VVIP customers, communication is extremely important. It is vital that we truly understand our customers’ vision before we make our proposals, let alone start producing the interiors. We work closely with our colleagues in sales, engineering, production and installation to ensure that the entire process is mapped out end-to-end from the very beginning. We spend a lot of time with our customers to capture every nuance, and to ensure that they understand how we can push the boundaries and continue to innovate to bring this to life within an aviation environment. What would you say to someone just starting in the industry? I would say do not be afraid to dream big. That is the fun part of this industry. We have the opportunity to dream big, find new approaches that no one has explored before and turn them into reality. What projects have defined your journey? Here I have to mention “Thunderbird”, an ACJ319neo bespoke VVIP interior. That was really a milestone project and we were proud to win the design et al’s International Yacht & Aviation Awards and Elite Awards in 2023. On that project we adapted the customer’s personal interior style for an aviation context, to reflect the way they live and travel. Our team worked together with the customer to identify and find the perfect
20 The World’s Leading Design Names
materials for their vision. The resulting cabin demonstrates the pure craftsmanship and minute attention to detail for which Jet Aviation is known. “Cirrus” is a good project to mention here as well, a concept cabin that won at design et al’s International Yacht & Aviation Awards and Elite Awards in 2025. It has a very different style to “Thunderbird”. The focus is on an organic, minimalist aesthetic, with soft curves in tactile fabrics and low earth tones contrasting with wooden surfaces and sleek metallic accent detailing. How do you see design evolving? What trends are emerging in aesthetics, technology, and sustainability? Within business aviation we see a strong trend toward greater technological innovation and integration in the cabin. Customers want everything to feel seamless. We have progressed from TVs that are hidden in the wall, to transparent screens that blend into their surroundings. Our in-house developed IFX, an in-flight entertainment and cabin management system, was recently integrated into a refurbishment project with a fully customized interface. Our work as a design studio embedded within a completions centre is to deliver the ultimate customer experience, achieving our customers’ vision in the cabin in a way that feels effortless. Within that technological innovation we can absolutely include more sustainable choices for our customers. Whether choosing more sustainable materials or working with local suppliers, there are a range of sustainable choices we offer our customers. Our recent concept cabin “Hesperis” explores lightweight materials such as flax panels and 3D-printed bulkheads that reduce the cabin’s overall weight and thereby contribute to greater fuel efficiency. What excites you most about the industry? I love the diversity of the customers and projects that we engage with. We have customers from all around the world, with a wide variety of preferences and expectations. This generates constant inspiration for myself and the team, as we explore different approaches and aesthetics on each bespoke project. At Jet Aviation we have the rewarding and unique opportunity to follow all required process steps during the conception and building of our product in-house. From the first pencil sketch to redelivery. You can see the work growing under your hands. Artificial Intelligence is also allowing us to iterate at a much higher pace than with prior technologies. This means we can be more creative than ever in the ideation phase. I am very excited to see what we will be able to achieve, empowered with this technology. What is your vision for the future of your business? We continue to innovate in service of our customers, meeting and exceeding their expectations in terms of aesthetics, while continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible in the cabin. Artificial Intelligence is proving to be a vital tool here, empowering our teams to operate at pace at the leading edge of this creative industry. The efficiencies that AI delivers throughout our process is really game changing for our team.

The World’s Leading Design Names 25
Can you share an overview of your background in design and your current role? For more than 25 years, we have had the privilege of leading Daoust Design as Founders and Creative Directors. Today, our multidisciplinary studio specializes in luxury private residences, bespoke yachts, and private aviation interiors. While we remain deeply involved in the creative direction of every project, our roles also include defining the studio’s vision, mentoring a highly talented team of designers and professionals, and building lasting relationships with our clients and international partners. We firmly believe that excellence is always the result of teamwork. The diversity of talent within Daoust Design allows us to approach every project collaboratively, with exceptional attention to detail and a level of creativity that consistently exceeds expectations. What projects are you currently working on, and can you share any details with us? We continue to develop projects across luxury private residences, yachting, and private aviation, collaborating with leading partners throughout North America and Europe. Within the yachting industry, we are working with a renowned Italian shipyard to develop interior concepts that present a contemporary vision of life at sea, where elegance, innovation, and functionality come together seamlessly. We are also collaborating with a Montreal-based private aviation company on interior concepts for private aircraft, where every detail is carefully considered to deliver an exceptional balance of comfort, refinement, and performance. Alongside these projects, we continue to design exceptional private residences. Each project is created around our clients’ lifestyle, aspirations, and personal vision, celebrating noble materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and a harmonious relationship between architecture and interior design. How important is communication in the design process? Communication is the foundation of every successful project. Design is, above all, a human relationship, and no matter how remarkable the result may be, the client experience is just as important as the design itself. Our role is to listen carefully, understand our clients’ vision, and guide them through every stage of the journey. Every conversation allows us to better understand their aspirations, their lifestyle, and the emotions they wish to experience within their environment. We believe that attentive listening, ongoing dialogue, and mutual understanding are essential to building trust. That trust enables us to transform a vision into a timeless environment where every detail reflects the personality and lifestyle of those who will inhabit it. What projects have defined your journey? One project that has truly defined our journey is our Érable Residence. It brought together everything we value most as designers: inspiring architecture, exceptional craftsmanship, noble materials, and the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented artists and artisans. What made this
26 The World’s Leading Design Names
project especially meaningful was the trust our clients placed in us. Their confidence gave us the creative freedom to bring their vision to life, resulting in a home that is both timeless and deeply personal. It perfectly illustrates how trust and collaboration can lead to exceptional design. What inspires or motivates you most in your work? Above all, we are inspired by the people we meet. Over the years, we have had the privilege of building lasting relationships with clients, artisans, architects, partners, and collaborators, both locally and internationally. Every one of these relationships enriches our perspectives and continually shapes the way we approach design. We also find great fulfilment in mentoring our team and passing on the knowledge and experience we have gained throughout our careers. Watching younger designers grow and helping shape the future of Daoust Design is incredibly rewarding. Ultimately, what motivates us most is the opportunity to keep learning, evolving, and creating environments that stand the test of time. Every project is a new opportunity to imagine, collaborate, and bring a meaningful vision to life. How do you see design evolving? What trends are emerging in aesthetics, technology, and sustainability? We believe the future of design lies in a more thoughtful, responsible, and enduring approach, where every decision is guided by meaning, quality, and longevity rather than shortlived trends. Technology continues to transform the way we design and deliver projects, but we see it as a tool that enhances creativity and the human experience rather than replacing it. It allows us to better visualize ideas, collaborate more effectively, and create increasingly personalized environments. At the same time, we see a renewed appreciation for noble materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and objects with authentic stories. Clients are increasingly seeking timeless environments designed to endure. To us, true luxury lies in the quality of the details, the balance of proportions, and a project’s ability to remain relevant and beautiful for generations. What is your vision for the future of your business? Our vision is to continue building a design studio that is internationally recognized for its creativity, refinement, and unwavering commitment to excellence. As we continue to grow, our priority will always be to preserve the personalized approach and meticulous attention to detail that define every Daoust Design project. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with exceptional clients and partners around the world across luxury private residences, bespoke yachts, and private aviation, creating projects that push creative boundaries while remaining timeless. More than growth itself, our ambition is to leave a lasting legacy through environments that will endure for generations.

How do you see design evolving? What trends are emerging in aesthetics, technology, and sustainability? From a design engineering and maintenance perspective, I see design evolving toward interiors that are not only beautiful, but smarter, lighter, easier to maintain, and more sustainable. The future of aircraft design is about balancing luxury and aesthetics with function, access, safety, durability, and long-term serviceability. What excites you most about the industry? What excites me most is where creativity meets technical precision. I enjoy seeing a concept become a finished aircraft interior while understanding what it takes behind the scenes – engineering, maintenance access, installation, inspection, and quality control. It is an industry where design has to look exceptional, perform properly, and stand up to real aircraft operations. What is your vision for the future of your business? We are growing and incorporating more and more maintenance oversight as well as quality control which allows to work on more special products at a time. aircraft, and AI isn’t going to replace that. There are certainly machines that can assist with tasks like stitching leather seats, sanding wood, or refinishing veneers, but the human touch is essential to quality craftsmanship. From a completion centre’s perspective, I don’t believe that’s something AI will replace. There will always be a need for skilled, hands-on craftsmanship. Where I think AI will be incredibly valuable is in generating new design ideas, visualising concepts, and helping customers explore different modifications, upgrades, and capabilities much more quickly.
Based at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, we have more than 75,000 square feet of dedicated hangar and ramp space, alongside our client experience centre and state-of-the-art workshop. Every project is approached as a blank canvas, with our team working closely with clients and designers to bring their individual vision to life. No two projects are the same, and our focus is on creating interiors that combine luxury, comfort and functionality to deliver a truly exceptional flying experience.
How important is communication in the design process? Communication is essential to the success of any sophisticated design project. Recently, we partnered with YODEZEEN to deliver a unique Gulfstream G550, which won the ‘Aviation Interior Design/VIP Completion’ title at the 2026 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. In this case, the owner was an established YODEZEEN client and a first-time aircraft buyer. Our sister company, SmartJets, identified and acquired the aircraft on their behalf, while the YODEZEEN team planned the interior design. Finally, VIP Completions implemented the plan and converted that vision into a tangible reality. Clear communication was critical at every step.
Which project or moment has been the most defining in your career so far? I think the first major project I ever took on – and when I say “major,” I mean something beyond a typical large-cabin aircraft refurbishment – was a Boeing 757 belonging to a foreign government. It was a project where we were bidding to completely upgrade the aircraft, including the cockpit avionics, full interior, satellite communication systems, and all the audio and video systems. Frankly, we had never done some of those things ourselves. I knew we had the capability, and I knew we had the vendors and contractors to support us in successfully completing the project, but we had never actually done it before. It was intimidating because it was a government project, but we were fortunate enough to win it. We completed it successfully in record time and at a very competitive price. That project really opened my mind to the fact that there is no limit to what we can accomplish if we bring in the right partners and have the right organisation behind us. It showed me that we’re not limited to large-cabin aircraft. We can take on major airliners, extensive modifications, significant upgrades, and highly customised projects. What has been the greatest lesson your career in design has taught you? To be open-minded, quite frankly. Everyone has a different opinion about what’s aesthetically pleasing, and what I like may be very different from what someone else likes. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to stay open-minded and really listen to what a designer – or even a customer designing their own aircraft – is trying to achieve. Many times, an idea that initially seems unusual or outside of your personal taste ends up becoming something truly exceptional. In a world increasingly influenced by AI and technology, where do you believe the human touch matters most? In our business, we rely on highly specialised craftsmen. At the end of the day, we’re building and outfitting the interior of an

What inspires or motivates you most in your work? The relationships we build with our clients are the most inspiring part of our work. Our clients come to us with big ideas and it’s our job to realise their dreams. We get to know our clients and understand their tastes and preferences. It’s a subtle process built on trust. I’m happy to report that we have excellent client retention – with numerous clients coming back to us to update or upgrade their aircraft. How do you see design evolving? What trends are emerging in aesthetics, technology, and sustainability? The biggest trend will be personalisation through integration. Owners increasingly want cabins with a single intuitive interface that instantly shifts the entire environment into presets like sleep, work, dining or party – coordinating connectivity, entertainment, lighting, shades, temperature and audio in a single step. That’s where refurbishment is heading – not just upgrading individual components but creating a cabin that is smarter, more responsive and tailored to how passengers use the aircraft. What is your vision for the future of your business? Demand for business aircraft completions and refurbishment is booming and growth is projected to continue. Several trends are driving this growth, including the integration of new internet connectivity options. For example, Space X’s Starlink has revolutionised in-flight connectivity performance with fibre-optic-like download speeds. Additionally, we’ve seen a lot of new first-time aircraft owners enter the market. These owners expect the same internet performance on their aircraft that they have at the office or at home. Today’s technologies allow us to deliver that kind of performance.

“the design seeks to dissolve the boundaries between yacht and contemporary residence” Completed in 2025 at Tankoa Yachts’ Civitavecchia facility, T450 M/Y Singolare is a 45-metre expression of crosscontinental design dialogue. Conceived by Brazilian architect Débora Aguiar in collaboration with Tankoa Yachts’ exterior design and naval architecture teams, the vessel redefines the notion of a yacht interior by prioritising residential warmth, emotional resonance and sensory refinement over conventional nautical language. At its core, Singolare is conceived as a “home on the water” for experienced Brazilian owners who spend extended periods at sea. Rather than adhering to a strictly maritime aesthetic, the design seeks to dissolve the boundaries between yacht and contemporary residence, resulting in interiors that feel grounded, tactile and intimately connected to their environment. The success of Singolare lies in its delicate equilibrium between Italian naval engineering precision and the softness of Brazilian residential design sensibilities. From the outset, the brief demanded full integration between exterior and interior architecture, ensuring continuity of form, material and experience across all decks. Floor-to-ceiling glazing in the main salon anchors this philosophy, opening the interiors to uninterrupted Mediterranean views and allowing natural light to shape the atmosphere throughout the day. Pale timber surfaces extend across walls, ceilings and cabinetry, creating spatial continuity while amplifying luminosity. The effect is one of quiet expansion, where boundaries dissolve and the yacht feels larger than its physical dimensions suggest. Every element has been meticulously considered in collaboration with naval engineers to ensure structural stability, durability and compliance with maritime safety standards. At the heart of the yacht, the Main Salon embodies the project’s central philosophy: that luxury is not defined by excess, but by atmosphere, proportion and tactile clarity. Here, a carefully modulated palette of neutral tones establishes a sense of calm continuity. Bespoke cabinetry and sculptural furniture pieces are arranged with deliberate restraint, allowing circulation and sightlines to remain fluid. The absence of visual noise heightens the impact of material quality and craftsmanship. Furniture by Poltrona Frau, Flexform, Giorgetti, B&B Italia, Baxter, Maxalto and Desalto introduces a curated layering of Italian design excellence, while soft
48 The World’s Leading Design Names
furnishings from Aldeco and Paola Lenti contribute warmth and textural depth. The result is a space that feels both composed and lived-in, where elegance is expressed through balance rather than ornamentation. Lighting plays a defining role. Subtle, layered illumination schemes are integrated to shift the mood from day to evening, enhancing architectural volumes without overpowering them. The interplay between natural and artificial light ensures the salon remains dynamic, responsive and emotionally engaging at all times. Across Singolare, material selection is driven by sensory experience as much as visual harmony. Foglizzo leather introduces softness and depth to seating and detailing, while Bisazza mosaics provide moments of subtle texture and reflection. Dekton surfaces offer durability without compromising refinement, and Giobagnara accessories contribute a quiet layer of artisanal precision. Outdoor and transitional areas extend the interior language seamlessly, with Tribù, Gloster, Dedon and Exteta furnishings reinforcing continuity between interior comfort and exterior openness. Armani/Casa elements introduce a refined urban elegance, while wood and stone finishes unify the vessel’s architectural narrative. Rather than relying on contrast for impact, the design builds richness through continuity. Pale woods, soft neutrals and carefully controlled tonal shifts ensure that movement through the yacht feels intuitive and uninterrupted. Singolare’s greatest achievement lies in its ability to transform a technically complex maritime structure into a genuinely residential environment. This transformation is not cosmetic, but deeply architectural. Spatial planning prioritises flow and connection, with each area designed to feel part of a cohesive whole rather than a series of isolated rooms. Circulation routes are intuitive, sightlines are extended, and thresholds between spaces are softened through material and light transitions. The yacht becomes less a vessel defined by navigation and more a floating residence defined by atmosphere. It is this reframing that allows Singolare to transcend conventional yacht design typologies, positioning itself instead as a study in contemporary living at sea. Perhaps the most defining characteristic of Singolare is its relationship with the surrounding environment. Rather than competing with the Mediterranean
landscape, the interior design frames it as the primary visual composition. Expansive glazing transforms the sea into a living artwork, constantly shifting in tone, texture and movement. The neutral interior palette mirrors these natural variations, allowing sky, water and light to permeate the spaces visually and emotionally. The execution of Singolare required an exceptional level of coordination between disciplines. Débora Aguiar Arquitetos brought decades of experience in bespoke residential architecture, translating a deeply human-centred design philosophy into a highly technical maritime context. This expertise in material behaviour, artisanal detailing and sensory planning proved essential in navigating the complexities of yacht construction. Close collaboration with Tankoa Yachts’ engineering teams ensured that every design decision met rigorous performance standards without compromising visual or experiential quality. The project stands as a testament to multidisciplinary collaboration, where craftsmanship, engineering and architectural vision converge to create a unified whole. This synthesis of technical excellence and emotional design language has been recognised on an international stage, with T450 M/Y Singolare winning the Main Salon category at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2026. For the design team, the accolade underscores the importance of cross-cultural collaboration and design innovation within the global yacht industry. As Débora C. L. Aguiar, CEO of Aguiar Arquitetos Associados, reflects: “The International Yacht & Aviation Awards provide a global platform where engineering excellence and design innovation are evaluated within an international context. For projects like this which unite cross-cultural expertise – Italian shipbuilding and Brazilian architectural sensibility – this recognition highlights the collaborative and multidisciplinary nature of contemporary yacht design. Such awards celebrate not only aesthetics, but technical intelligence, craftsmanship and the evolution of lifestyle at sea”. In Singolare, that evolution is tangible. It is a yacht that does not simply travel across water, but redefines what it means to inhabit it.

“Riva Volare is an exercise in continuity – between water and air, heritage and innovation, motion and stillness”.
There are interiors that transport, and then there are interiors that transcend their category entirely. Riva Volare belongs firmly in the latter. Conceived through a landmark collaboration between Flexjet and Ferretti Group, this bespoke cabin concept translates the unmistakable glamour of Riva’s legendary motoryachts into the rarefied world of private aviation. Completed in 2025, the design has since been recognised with the Global Project Award at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2026, affirming its position as a benchmark in cross-sector luxury design. At its heart, Riva Volare is an exercise in continuity – between water and air, heritage and innovation, motion and stillness. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Aquarama and Aquariva yachts, the interior captures the essence of the original “Dolce Vita” spirit through a contemporary aviation lens. Clean architectural lines, rich tactile layering and signature nautical detailing are reinterpreted for the sky, creating an environment that feels both familiar and entirely new. The project emerged following the official partnership formed in May 2024 between the two luxury brands, each renowned for performance-driven design and meticulous craftsmanship. Working closely over many months, design teams from both sides collaborated to refine a shared vision: to create a cabin experience that would not simply reference Riva, but embody its design DNA within the constraints and precision of aviation interiors. Ric Michaels, leading the design direction for the project alongside the Riva/Ferretti Group design team, brought decades of aviation cabin expertise to the process. His role was pivotal in balancing expressive materiality with the rigorous technical demands of aircraft interiors, ensuring every detail met strict FAA and EASA regulations without compromising aesthetic intent. Inside the cabin of the Flexjet Gulfstream G650, the Riva Volare concept unfolds with theatrical subtlety. Soft, handstitched leather seating is finished with aquamarine piping – a direct nod to Riva’s maritime palette – while embroidered logos on seat backs reinforce the narrative
56 The World’s Leading Design Names
of craftsmanship and heritage. High-gloss striped wood veneers in teak and holly reference classic yacht decking, their reflective surfaces catching light in a way that echoes the movement of water. Colour is used sparingly but deliberately. Deep “Blu Sera” metallic accents introduce moments of contrast, grounding the lighter wood tones and creamy leathers with a sense of depth and evening calm. Polished nickel trims add precision and definition, subtly elevating edges and transitions throughout the cabin. Even the softer elements are concept-driven. A custom carpet design by Scott Group Studio evokes the fluid “wash” of a Riva cutting through water, its silken gradients suggesting movement even at rest. Pop-up kibitzer seating, dressed in nautical blueand-white stripes, introduces a playful social dimension, referencing the convivial spirit of classic yacht interiors. Materiality plays a central role throughout. Garrett leathers bring warmth and tactility, F/List veneers deliver precision craftsmanship, and HighTech Finishing introduces refined metallic detailing. The integration of Starlink connectivity ensures that the experience remains as technologically advanced as it is aesthetically considered, while Flexjet’s Riva Volare G650 is further enhanced with bespoke Riva tableware, glassware and textiles – extending the design language beyond architecture into lifestyle. Yet beneath its elegance lies a deeply pragmatic structure. Every surface, fixture and finish has been evaluated not only for visual impact but for weight, durability, spatial efficiency and compliance. Storage solutions are seamlessly integrated, proportions carefully balanced, and every material selected with aviation performance in mind. It is this duality – luxury and logic – that defines the project’s success. Perhaps the most striking evolution of Riva Volare is its extension into rotorcraft. The same design language has been reinterpreted within Flexjet’s Sikorsky S-76 helicopters, creating one of the most distinctive private helicopter interiors in operation today. This adaptation reinforces the seamless travel philosophy behind the concept: a continuous journey that moves effortlessly from private jet to helicopter, and ultimately from air to
water. Operating across both Florida and The Bahamas, as well as Italy and the French Riviera, the helicopters complete a narrative arc that the design itself suggests – arrival not at an airport, but directly waterside, where a Riva yacht awaits. This “From Sea To Sky” journey reframes private travel as a single, uninterrupted experience, rather than a series of segmented transitions. Within the wider context of Flexjet’s LXi Cabin Collection™ – a portfolio of more than 50 bespoke interiors across a fleet of over 340 aircraft – Riva Volare stands as one of the most expressive and culturally resonant designs to date. Each cabin in the collection offers a distinct narrative, but few achieve the level of thematic integration seen here, where brand heritage, material storytelling and spatial choreography converge so completely. It is this ambition that ultimately sets the project apart. As a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a private aviation company and a yacht manufacturer, Riva Volare pushes the boundaries of what interior design in luxury travel can be. It is not simply a cabin, nor a yacht-inspired homage, but a fully realised environment shaped by shared values: innovation, craftsmanship and uncompromising attention to detail. Speaking on the significance of recognition within the industry, Viv Diprose, Head of Communications at Flexjet, reflects on the importance of the award platform: “At the pinnacle of luxury travel, a journey can become a truly immersive and moving experience, unveiling a world of bespoke interiors crafted with beauty, precision and quality. The brands and their designers who are working to push the boundaries of design, while respecting the technical boundaries in this field are true innovators in their space. Recognising their work in this way can act as deep inspiration for the next generation of designers.” In Riva Volare, that philosophy is made tangible. It is a cabin that does more than carry passengers – it curates atmosphere, evokes heritage and reframes movement itself as an aesthetic experience.

“refitted to reflect a contemporary language of luxury while preserving the quiet dignity of her classic Italian lineage.”
There is a particular confidence in projects that do not attempt to erase their history but instead refine it. M/Y SOJO is one such example: a 54-metre Benetti yacht originally launched in 1984 and now extensively refitted to reflect a contemporary language of luxury while preserving the quiet dignity of her classic Italian lineage. Completed in June 2025 at Spanopoulos Shipyard in Athens, the yacht has been reimagined by IPYD - Ira Petromanolaki Yacht Designers as a study in balance, where restraint, warmth and modern refinement coexist with the vessel’s original architectural character. Recognised for its achievement, SOJO was awarded Winner of the Refit category at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2026, affirming its position as a standout example of how heritage yachts can be sensitively and intelligently transformed for contemporary life at sea. From the outset, the design brief called for a careful negotiation between eras. Rather than stripping away the yacht’s identity, the design team worked to preserve key original elements, allowing SOJO’s iconic exterior lines to remain visually and emotionally present throughout the interior journey. This approach creates a dialogue between past and present – one that is felt rather than stated. Across the two main salons, contrasting palettes and textures establish distinct atmospheres while maintaining an overall sense of cohesion. One space leans into lighter tonal qualities, amplifying daylight and openness, while the other introduces deeper, more grounded hues that encourage intimacy and retreat. This duality continues into the cabins, each designed as a calm, private sanctuary with its own subtle material identity. Light plays a defining role throughout the yacht. Surfaces were carefully selected to reflect and diffuse natural illumination, enhancing the sense of volume within the interior architecture. Soft, tactile fabrics sit alongside rich woods and supple leathers, creating a layered sensory experience that feels both composed
66 The World’s Leading Design Names
and inviting. The result is an interior that never feels over-styled, but instead gently resolved – elegance expressed through proportion, texture and restraint. A curated selection of Italian furniture brands reinforces this quiet sophistication. Pieces from Poliform, B&B Italia, Living Divani, Cassina and Tribù anchor the interiors with a sense of design pedigree, while accents from Eichholtz, Maria Flora and Giobagnara introduce additional layers of texture, craftsmanship and subtle decorative detail. Together, these selections avoid excess, instead reinforcing a coherent visual language rooted in understated refinement. The sundeck extends this philosophy into the open air, transforming exterior living into an essential part of the onboard experience. Generous lounging areas are arranged to encourage relaxed movement between sun and shade, while an integrated bar and Jacuzzi establish a natural social focal point. A touch-andgo helipad completes the arrangement, underscoring the yacht’s dual identity as both private retreat and fully equipped modern vessel. Importantly, these exterior interventions are handled with restraint, ensuring the yacht’s relationship with sea and sky remains uninterrupted. One of the most compelling aspects of SOJO lies in its sensitivity to context. Rather than imposing itself on the seascape, the yacht is designed to respond to it. Reflective surfaces capture shifting light conditions, while open-plan social areas frame uninterrupted views of the horizon. The result is a constant visual exchange between interior and exterior, where boundaries soften and the experience of the sea becomes everpresent. This connection is heightened by the careful continuity between exterior lines and interior architecture. The refit respects the original Benetti silhouette, allowing the yacht’s historic proportions to guide contemporary interventions. Inside and out, there is a deliberate sense of alignment – an architectural coherence that makes the yacht feel unified rather than segmented.
Behind this visual clarity lies a high level of technical and artisanal expertise. The refit required precision craftsmanship across bespoke joinery, leather detailing, custom furniture production and integrated lighting design. Structural restoration and marine finishing also played a critical role, ensuring modern performance standards were met without compromising the yacht’s original character. It is this blend of engineering and artistry that gives SOJO its quiet authority. Ultimately, the project is defined not by transformation alone, but by reinterpretation. SOJO does not seek to reinvent its origins, but to elevate them – allowing history to remain visible while introducing a new layer of contemporary comfort and sophistication. The result is a yacht that feels both familiar and newly discovered, offering an experience shaped by continuity, craft and considered design. As Ira Petromanolaki, Founder and CEO of IPYD - Ira Petromanolaki Yacht Designers, reflects on the significance of recognition within the industry: “The International Yacht & Aviation Awards honour the very best in yacht design and innovation, highlighting creativity, technical excellence, and attention to detail. Recognition through these awards underlines the value of thoughtful design, refined craftsmanship, and the ability to translate a client’s vision into a timeless maritime experience. They inspire the industry to continue raising standards of luxury, functionality, and design,” For SOJO, this recognition feels particularly fitting. The refit is not simply a renewal of structure or style, but a reimagining of atmosphere – an exercise in restraint, precision and emotional resonance. At sea, where environment and experience are inseparable, SOJO offers something quietly rare: a sense of ease that comes not from excess, but from harmony.

“a clear stylistic mandate – timeless elegance, functional clarity, and a distinct visual identity”
At approximately 50 metres in length and under 499 GT, Sleek 52 by Tureddi Group is not a yacht that seeks attention through excess. Instead, it commands it through restraint – through a carefully choreographed balance of geometry, materiality and proportion that resolves into a form of quiet authority on the water. Developed with a clear stylistic mandate – timeless elegance, functional clarity, and a distinct visual identity – the concept distils complexity into something remarkably coherent. Every line, surface, and transition has been considered not as an isolated gesture, but as part of a continuous architectural language that runs seamlessly from exterior profile to interior volume. The result is a yacht that feels inevitable rather than constructed. The defining design tension within Sleek 52 lies in its material dialogue. White metal surfaces establish a crisp, architectural foundation, while carefully integrated wooden elements introduce warmth and refinement. Rather than competing, the two materials are orchestrated into harmony – each amplifying the qualities of the other. Wood is used not as ornament, but as structure in the visual sense: a soft counterpoint to the precision of metal. It bends the perception of the yacht’s otherwise streamlined geometry, introducing a sense of tactility that tempers the technical purity of the form. This interplay is most evident in the detailing, where sinuous transitions between surfaces are deliberately minimal, allowing the contrast itself to become the decorative language. One of the most striking design decisions lies in the treatment of the window apertures. In an era where curvature often softens architectural edges, Sleek 52 takes the opposite approach: sharp, decisive cut-outs that remain unapologetically linear. There is no attempt to dilute their clarity. Instead, they reinforce the yacht’s broader design ethos – precision as elegance. The effect is architectural rather than decorative, giving the vessel a confident, graphic presence without compromising its sense of refinement. It is a discipline of
74 The World’s Leading Design Names
restraint that defines the entire concept: no unnecessary gestures, no diluted lines, only clarity of intent.
in its clarity. This is not a vessel designed to impress once. It is designed to be continually re-seen.
Inside, the yacht expands into generous volumes designed around livability and flow. The brief called for interiors that prioritise comfort, circulation, and spatial harmony, and the execution reflects a strong commitment to experiential design. Salons and cabins are conceived as interconnected environments rather than isolated rooms, with visual continuity maintained through material consistency and controlled sightlines. Movement onboard is intuitive, guided by proportion and openness rather than directional cues. Materials play a central role in shaping atmosphere. Noble woods introduce warmth and grounding, while stone and finely detailed metal surfaces reinforce a sense of permanence and precision. The palette is restrained, allowing texture, light, and proportion to carry visual interest. The result is an interior that feels calm without austerity – luxurious without overt declaration.
Rather than imposing itself upon its surroundings, Sleek 52 is conceived to sit within them. Its refined silhouette and controlled palette allow it to dissolve into varied seascapes, adapting visually to light, horizon, and weather conditions. This sensitivity to context is not accidental but foundational. The yacht’s elegance is intended to support, rather than dominate, its environment – creating a dialogue between structure and setting that feels balanced rather than assertive.
Externally, Sleek 52 offers a series of multifunctional environments designed to support a fluid onboard lifestyle. Solariums, panoramic decks, outdoor dining areas, and relaxation zones are integrated into the overall composition rather than appended to it. Each space is designed with dual purpose: visual continuity and lived experience. The yacht’s exterior does not simply frame the sea – it engages with it, offering shifting perspectives and layered moments of exposure and shelter. Despite its functional diversity, the exterior retains a unified visual identity. The same design discipline that governs the interior is carried outward, ensuring consistency across all guest experiences. Perhaps the most compelling quality of Sleek 52 is its ability to remain visually resonant long after first encounter. It does not rely on spectacle or novelty. Instead, its impact is cumulative. As the design team notes, its strength lies in permanence of impression – an aesthetic that resists fatigue. The yacht maintains its composure whether seen in motion, at anchor, or remembered later, unchanged
The project’s design excellence has been formally acknowledged with a win in the Concept Over 40M category at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2026, an accolade that places Sleek 52 among the most compelling conceptual yacht designs of the year. Reflecting on the significance of the Awards, Sales Director Luciano Aglioni of Tureddi Group Ltd commented: “For Tureddi Yachts, participation is not only about recognition, but about reinforcing its identity as a benchmark of craftsmanship, innovation, and refined Italian design. Being present at such a prestigious event enhances brand credibility, increases exposure to a highly targeted audience, and opens doors to strategic partnerships within both the yachting and aviation sectors – industries that share the same values of exclusivity, performance, and bespoke excellence.” In Sleek 52, design is not defined by excess but by discipline. Its elegance is structural, embedded in proportion, material honesty, and the clarity of its geometry. Every decision serves a larger coherence, resulting in a yacht that feels both contemporary and enduring. It is a study in balance – between metal and wood, between precision and warmth, between presence and restraint. And in that balance, Sleek 52 finds its identity: unmistakable, composed, and quietly unforgettable.

“O’Madeleine is defined not by singular statements but by relationships – between material and light, interior and exterior, permanence and movement” Delivered in June 2025 by Golden Yachts, O’Madeleine stands as a considered exploration of contemporary yacht design, where architectural clarity and artisanal depth are held in deliberate equilibrium. Far from a conventional addition to the upper tier of modern yachting, she reads as a disciplined collaboration between vision and execution – shaped externally by Studio Vafiadis and realised internally through the refined sensibility of designer Alessandro Massari. The result is a vessel that resists spectacle in favour of precision, material intelligence, and spatial rhythm. From the exterior, O’Madeleine is defined by elongated lines and sculptural recesses, a silhouette that privileges proportion over flourish. Yet it is within her interiors that the narrative deepens into something more tactile and atmospheric. The design language draws a quiet tension between Nordic restraint and Mediterranean warmth, expressed through a palette that is at once controlled and sensorial. Oak, straw marquetry, stingray leather, and softly veined stone establish a layered foundation where each surface contributes to a broader material dialogue rather than competing for attention. The main saloon sets the tone with an emphasis on nuance over declaration. Cabinetry, meticulously handcrafted in straw marquetry and galuchat leather, sits beneath expanses of Cremo Italia stone, grounding the space in a sense of permanence. At its centre, a dining table appears almost suspended – its bronze-lacquered base engineered to create visual levity, supporting a backlit crystal agate surface that emits a subdued internal glow. The effect is one of controlled contrast: weight and lightness, opacity and luminosity, structure and softness held in continuous balance. Throughout the yacht, materiality is used to articulate spatial experience. Leatherfinished stone reveals natural veining across bulkheads, lending depth without visual density. In guest accommodation, White Carrara marble establishes a serene continuity, while the master suite introduces Calacatta Violet as a more expressive gesture – still restrained, yet undeniably present. Even the day heads are treated with sculptural intent, where
84 The World’s Leading Design Names
Rouge de Roi marble sinks are carved as standalone objects rather than purely functional elements. Across these spaces, textiles temper the architectural clarity: silk hand-knotted rugs anchor communal areas, wool carpets introduce subtle tactility to private cabins, and Fortuny cushions offer a quiet reference to Venetian textile heritage. Lighting is conceived not as an accessory but as an architectural system in its own right. Six programmable scenes allow the yacht’s atmosphere to shift seamlessly from crisp daylight articulation to softened evening intimacy. Recessed ceiling structures, often backlit to mimic skylights, extend vertical perception and reinforce a continuous dialogue with the exterior environment. Nowhere is this more evident than in the central staircase – a sculptural spine that wraps around the lift core, animated by Murano glass elements that evoke shoals of fish in motion. It functions simultaneously as circulation, installation, and spatial punctuation. Furniture throughout O’Madeleine is largely bespoke, developed in collaboration with Italian ateliers to ensure material coherence across every deck. In the upper family saloon, an EDRA polyhedral sofa with reclining elements introduces a more relaxed counterpoint, designed for immersive cinema experiences. Nearby, a coffee table composed of raw wood root and patinated brass blurs the boundary between functional object and sculptural artefact. Bars across the yacht extend this exploration further, particularly the upper deck installation – a monolithic “stone cave” carved in curved marble, demanding advanced fabrication techniques and exceptional structural coordination. Exterior spaces maintain the same design discipline, extending the interior language into open-air living. Custom teak and travertine furnishings are complemented by curated pieces from Paola Lenti, Tribù, and Kettal, ensuring continuity without uniformity. The relationship between inside and outside is carefully calibrated, allowing transitions that feel fluid rather than abrupt. Perhaps the most expressive spatial departure is the beach club, conceived as
a hybridised “beach house” rather than a purely recreational zone. Here, wellness, leisure, and utility converge without hierarchy. A lounge, bar, hammam, and treatment spaces coexist alongside a discreetly integrated garage, where jet skis are deliberately displayed as part of the visual composition. A glass-framed pool edged in mirror-polished stainless steel anchors the space, capturing shifting reflections of sea and sky to dissolve the boundary between built form and environment. Adaptability underpins much of the yacht’s architectural thinking. The upper-deck veranda, housed beneath a vast skylight, transitions effortlessly between open-air lounge, enclosed gym, cinema, or social space. This fluidity reflects a broader evolution in onboard living, where spatial identity is no longer fixed but responsive. Accommodation follows the same principle: six cabins, including a full-beam master suite, are designed as private sanctuaries where panoramic glazing erases the horizon while preserving seclusion. Underlying this visual and spatial refinement is a high degree of technical orchestration. Cantilevered structures, integrated lighting systems, and marbleclad volumes required close collaboration between designers, engineers, and artisans. Golden Yachts’ role is evident in this balance of ambition and execution, enabling material experimentation while maintaining structural clarity. From eggshell-finished surfaces to teak-detailed exterior rails designed for tactile engagement, every detail reflects a commitment to coherence rather than excess. Ultimately, O’Madeleine is defined not by singular statements but by relationships – between material and light, interior and exterior, permanence and movement. Full-height glazing ensures a continuous presence of sea and horizon, while reflective surfaces subtly extend spatial perception beyond the vessel itself. Luxury here is not declared; it is composed, layered, and carefully calibrated – a continuous dialogue between craftsmanship, environment, and experience. Photography ©Guillaume Plisson.

What changes in design have had the greatest impact on your work? Design is not decoration. Design is the deliberate shaping of human experience. The biggest shift has been recognising that design is no longer simply about creating beautiful spaces. Today, we understand much more about how environments influence human behaviour, well-being and emotion. At the same time, technology has transformed what is possible. Advanced engineering, digital design tools and new manufacturing methods allow us to realise ideas that would have been unimaginable only a decade ago. For me, however, the greatest impact has been the growing recognition that successful design can only emerge when creativity and technical expertise evolve together. One without the other is never enough. Which project or moment has been the most defining in your career so far? There have been several important milestones throughout my career, but being gifted with the opportunity to design the Boeing Demonstrator and have it presented to the public was undoubtedly one of the most defining moments. Watching an idea evolve from the very first sketch into a completed aircraft – and seeing people experience it for the first time – was incredibly rewarding. It confirmed that thoughtful design has the power to tell a story and create an emotional connection beyond aesthetics. Especially at the moment when visitors were asking me if the aircraft is wider than a normal 737-700 I did know I have done a good job, creating an illusion. Who or what has had the greatest influence on your design philosophy? People. My philosophy has always been centred on how a person feels within a space. I never see an interior simply as a collection of furniture, materials or decorative elements. Every proportion, every surface, every light source and every movement through a space influences us – both consciously and subconsciously. To me, an interior is an environment that shapes human experience. It affects us physically through ergonomics, comfort and functionality, and emotionally and sensorial through atmosphere, light, temperature, proportion and materiality. Good design creates an environment that supports both physical comfort and emotional well-being. That holistic perspective has shaped my work from the very beginning. My technical background has had an equally strong influence on my philosophy. It allows me to bridge the gap between creative vision and engineering reality. In aviation, beautiful design alone is never enough – it must also be technically feasible, functional and capable of meeting the industry’s demanding requirements. An aircraft cabin is one of the most demanding environments in interior design. Every design decision has to satisfy aesthetics, engineering, certification, functionality, ergonomics and operational requirements simultaneously. The most successful interiors are those where emotion and engineering become inseparable. What has been the greatest lesson your career in design has taught you? Never give up on your vision. Looking back, some of the detours in my career turned out to be the most valuable opportunities for growth. Every challenge teaches you something, every
90 The World’s Leading Design Names
project expands your knowledge, and every obstacle pushes you to think out of the box to become a better designer. Over the years, I have learned that technical expertise is not something you acquire overnight – it is built through curiosity, perseverance and countless hours of solving problems. Some of the most rewarding moments have come from finding solutions where others believed none existed. I’ve also learned that success is never achieved alone. Openness, authenticity, kindness and surrounding yourself with talented people are just as important as technical expertise. What does luxury mean in 2026? For me, luxury has little to do with brands or labels. True luxury is something created specifically for an individual. It is about craftsmanship, exceptional quality, authenticity and products that are designed and made with care. Personalisation has become far more valuable than exclusivity based solely on a name. What keeps you passionate about design? Creativity is simply who I am. I have always been fascinated by solving problems through design. Every project teaches me something new, every client brings a different vision, and every challenge requires a unique solution. I particularly enjoy solving complex problems with technical precision while transforming them into beautiful, meaningful design solutions. That constant process of learning, creating and improving is what continues to inspire me every day. What excites me most is finding solutions where others only see constraints. In a world increasingly influenced by AI and technology, where do you believe the human touch matters most? AI will undoubtedly transform many aspects of our profession and make countless processes more efficient. However, I don’t believe AI will ever truly understand people. The most important part of design often lies between the lines – understanding emotions, reading unspoken expectations and sensing what someone is trying to express before they can fully articulate it themselves. Empathy, intuition and genuine human connection remain irreplaceable. What advice would you give your younger self when you first entered the industry? Stay authentic. Treat people with respect, be generous with your knowledge, and build genuine relationships. In the end, your reputation is shaped not only by the quality of your work, but also by the way you work with others. Twenty years from now, what do you hope people will say about your work and the legacy you have created? “Engineering defines what is possible. Emotion defines what is memorable. My work exists where the two become inseparable.” Someone who demonstrated that engineering and emotion are not opposites, but essential partners in creating exceptional interiors. I would like to be remembered as someone who always pushed the boundaries, thinking out of the box, changing the view angle, staying flexible and open for innovations. If my work has inspired others to think more holistically about design – to look beyond aesthetics and consider how spaces influence people physically and emotionally – then I believe I have left a meaningful legacy.

Can you share an overview of your background in design and your current role? I am the Founder and CEO of Luxury Projects. Together with my highly skilled team, I personally follow each client from the very first sketch through to the delivery of the finest final detail. I was born in Rome and grew up in Ancona, Italy. From an early age, I was immersed in creativity – my grandmother was a fashion designer, and her world had a strong influence on me. During my childhood, I also spent summers in a monastery, where I learned the intricate art of embroidery. Those early experiences taught me patience, precision, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. As a teenager, my family sent me to England to study English. Soon after, I chose to pursue engineering, driven by my passion for mathematics and complex problem-solving. After completing my degree and PhD, I began my career with one of Italy’s leading hightech companies, an experience that allowed me to travel extensively around the world. In 2002, I returned to Ancona to take on a new challenge within one of Italy’s most prestigious shipyards, entering the world of superyachts and project management. In 2008, after years of experience in the industry, and driven by a strong passion for art, design, material research, and innovation, I decided to turn my long-held entrepreneurial vision into reality by founding Luxury Projects Design Studio and Atelier, headquartered in Ancona, Italy. What projects are you currently working on, and can you share any details with us? We are currently working on the interiors of a 74m yacht, alongside 60m, 50m, and 33m yacht interior projects. We are also developing the complete exterior and interior design for a series of motor catamarans ranging from 88 to 150ft. Beyond yachting, we are involved in a number of high-end private residential projects across Italy, The Netherlands, Monaco, Dubai, and London – as well as several additional projects that remain strictly confidential. How important is communication in the design process? Communication is absolutely central to the design process – it is the foundation on which everything else is built. At Luxury Projects, every project begins with listening. Before we draw a single line, we invest time in understanding the client: their lifestyle, their habits, and the unspoken details that define how they experience a space. Design is about translating a vision into reality, and that can only happen through continuous, clear dialogue. But communication does not stop with the client. A project of this scale involves shipyards, engineers, craftsmen, suppliers, and project managers. Our role is to act as a bridge between these worlds, ensuring creativity, technical requirements, and execution remain aligned. Good communication prevents mistakes, saves time, builds trust, and allows a project to evolve smoothly. Ultimately, success is not only the final result, but how well everyone works together. What would you say to someone just starting in the industry? I would say: be curious, be patient, and do not rush the process. This industry may look glamorous, but behind every project there is discipline, coordination, and problemsolving. Take time to understand how things are made – go to shipyards, workshops, and speak with craftsmen. That knowledge will set you apart. Train your eye and develop sensitivity to proportions, materials, and light. Design is about observation and consistency over time. Be humble enough to learn, but confident enough to express ideas. In the beginning, listen more than you speak – but when you speak, 96 The World’s Leading Design Names
bring value. Surround yourself with people who are better than you. The best projects are always the result of strong teams. If you combine technical understanding, creativity, and collaboration, you will build something solid and lasting. What projects have defined your journey? That is always a difficult question, because every project leaves something behind – but a few have marked key moments. The early years in shipyards were fundamental, teaching discipline, precision, and respect for complexity. That experience shaped my approach to every project. Then there are projects that defined Luxury Projects as a studio. Some new builds and refits – especially yachts where we rethought interiors while preserving identity – were incredibly important. Projects such as MY Alfa, MY Moonstone, MY Nero, and MY Samadhi were especially significant, where scale and expectations were extremely high. These projects test you in creativity, coordination, timing, and execution. I would also mention working on fixed-structure platforms and creating interiors that adapt to different owners, which pushed thinking around flexibility and longevity. But what defines my journey most is not a single project – it is continuous evolution, with each project refining how we think, design, and deliver. What inspires or motivates you most in your work? What inspires me most is the moment when an idea becomes real. Design begins as something intangible – a feeling or vision – and then takes shape step by step into something people can live in. That transformation is deeply motivating. I am also inspired by materials and how they interact with light. Travelling, discovering craftsmanship, and exploring textures all feed creativity. Inspiration often comes from unexpected places: nature, art, or technical solutions reinterpreted in new ways. But above all, I am driven by the relationship with the client – understanding their world, translating it into space, and seeing their reaction at completion. It is about creating something meaningful that did not exist before. How do you see design evolving? What trends are emerging in aesthetics, technology, and sustainability? Design is shifting from style to meaning. It is becoming more human, warm, and personal. Spaces now feel lived-in rather than staged, with tactile materials, layered textures, an authentic atmospheres. It is about making people feel something rather than impressing them. Technology is becoming invisible – integrated systems, BIM, AI, and parametric tools are used to create seamless, intuitive environments. Sustainability is now essential, moving from reducing harm to actively improving environments through regenerative materials, wellbeing-focused design, and integration with nature. Overall, design is becoming more conscious, ethical, and futureoriented. What is your vision for the future of your business? We have built a strong and loyal client base. Moving forward, I would like to expand it slightly in order to reach a more stable and comfortable position that will allow us to run the business with greater continuity and progressively grow into a self-managing company. Is there anything else you would like to add? We truly love what we do. Our company feels like a family, and everyone in the studio shares that sense of belonging. This is an approachI deeply believe in because it reflects who I am. People c ome to work because they want to, and because they feel part of somethingmeaningful. I take care of my team as I would my own family, and that trust and respect are naturally returned.

The day to day work of a designer is unique to them; how would you describe your role to us if we knew nothing about you? At its core, my role as a Principal Designer is about transforming technical complexity into something that feels effortless, functional, and beautiful. No two days look the same. One day, I may be immersed in space planning developing layouts and refining how every inch of the aircraft interior works together. The next, I could be collaborating with engineering teams to ensure our creative vision aligns perfectly with the client’s expectations as well as technical and certification requirements. What truly defines my role, however, is the client relationship. Collaboration begins long before sketches are drawn - during the earliest conversations where we translate their vision into possibility - and it continues well beyond delivery. Even after the aircraft leaves our hangar, we remain connected, supporting the client through service, refurbishment, and evolving needs. There’s also a strong leadership aspect - guiding creative direction, mentoring designers, and maintaining the balance between innovation and practicality. It’s a dynamic role that requires creativity, precision, and empathy in equal measure – and that’s what I love most about it. Every day offers the opportunity to create extraordinary spaces while building lasting relationships rooted in trust and design excellence. How different is your role compared to how you expected it would be when you launched your career? When I began my design career, I imagined my focus would revolve around creating beautiful interiors and fulfilling client expectations. Over time, I’ve learned that exceptional design extends far beyond aesthetics - it’s about merging artistry with engineering precision. Working at Greenpoint has deepened my understanding of what it means to design for manufacturing. If you had the chance to go back to the beginning, knowing what you know now, would you do anything differently? If I could go back to the beginning, I wouldn’t change my path - but I would remind my younger self to stay open to every experience and trust that each step has purpose. Early in my career, I thought design success was measured by the finished product. Over time, I’ve learned that the most meaningful work happens in the in-between moments collaboration, problem-solving, and the persistence it takes to transform a vision into reality. Every challenge has shaped who I am as a designer. How do you implement technology in your work? Technology has become one of the most transformative forces in interior design - evolving faster than ever before. What was once a process centred on 2D drawings, hand renderings, and physical material palettes has now expanded into an immersive digital experience. Today, our design tools allow us to visualise and refine interiors with remarkable precision and immediacy. At Greenpoint, we’ve embraced this evolution wholeheartedly.

Can you see a place for artificial intelligence in design? Design is a profoundly human pursuit - it’s driven by empathy, creativity, and intuition. Artificial intelligence is already becoming a powerful ally in the design process, helping us visualise ideas, spark inspiration, and streamline technical tasks. But while AI can generate patterns and possibilities, it cannot replicate the emotional intelligence and personal connection that define great design. I see its role as complementary rather than competitive. What do you see as the key challenges facing the industry at the moment? One of the key challenges in our industry is balancing the desire for truly one-of-a-kind design with the realities of production schedules and certification requirements. Clients expect exclusivity and artistry - the use of rare materials, intricate detailing, and concepts that have never been realised before - yet these ambitions must still align with rigorous manufacturing and airworthiness standards. At Greenpoint, we’re addressing this by continually expanding our flight-ready catalogue of approved materials, mechanisms, and trusted suppliers. This approach allows us to innovate with confidence - bringing bold new ideas to life while maintaining precision, reliability, and efficiency. If you had to give a single piece if design advice for the year ahead, what would it be? Design never stands still. My advice for the year ahead is to keep reimagining - even after a project feels complete. Take time to reflect on where the design began, what it became, and how it could evolve further. That curiosity is what propels innovation. Every completed project should be seen not as an end point, but as a foundation for what comes next. Tell us about the projects you are currently working on... I’m currently developing a series of next-next generation designs for a select group of clients, with a focus on BBJ 787 and BBJ 737 MAX platforms. Alongside new completions, I’m guiding clients through refined refurbishment programs, where the goal is not only renewal but reinvention - creating interiors that anticipate the next era of airborne luxury. Each project presents an opportunity to explore how innovation, craftsmanship, and technology can redefine comfort and personalisation in flight. I’m especially proud of contributing to the development of Greenpoint’s AeroSuite™ - the industry’s first super first-class suite designed exclusively for the BBJ 787 VVIP market. What goals have you set for the year ahead? This year, my focus is on future-proofing our designs by strengthening both client engagement and supplier partnerships. Through immersive tools like 3D-printed layouts and full-scale proof-of-concept models, clients can experience their interiors early in the process. At the same time, growing our partnerships with innovative suppliers allows Greenpoint to continually define the next generation of luxury and performance in aircraft interiors.
