The Design Essentials
Montezuma – By AERISTO
For 2023 AERISTO is adding its Montezuma article to its quick-ship program of leathers, to be kept in stock at its facility in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Described as an “Assisted Aniline” leather, the article mimics a true aniline in respect to color intensity and transparency – with the added benefit of a protective finish to prevent premature fading and wear, both synonymous with true aniline leathers. Still, the article behaves like a true aniline leather in both haptic and color quality which has made it increasingly popular in the VVIP segment.
To ensure the highest quality, Montezuma is based on south German bull hides like all of AERISTO’s other leather articles – known in the upholstery industry as the premier raw material selection.
AERISTO plans to start with 12 Montezuma colors and organically build its collection from there. Custom color requests are welcome as always.

Joseph Giles: Introducing the new Fitzherbert doorknob, which has been inspired by The Royal Pavilion in Brighton. It was constructed by notable British architect John Nash as the seaside pleasure palace of King George IV.
Details such as the large imposing perimeter octagonal columns, elaborate minarets, imposing domes, decorative cornice and detailed marquetry all play their part in the design.
Here you can see evidence of the external pillars at the entrance of the salon and delicate inlaid details taken from the embellishments on the East entrance hall wall. Combined this makes for a beautifully balanced and truly impacting door handle.
The Collins Bar Cabinet and Cellar by Davidson London. A lavish drinks cabinet solution, the Collins combines the style and function of the cocktail cabinet with elegant wine storage. The design brief was to create an elegant home bar for the clients to entertain their guests. The pandemic has led to a shift towards entertaining at home and so the clients wanted to create a space that could rival even the finest speakeasy in London. On a practical level, the cabinet and cellar needed intelligent storage for bottles, glassware and mixology equipment.
The design incorporated elegant, lined drawers for small equipment, deep rubber lined drawers to conceal spirit storage and in the wings, intelligent temperature-controlled wine coolers by Gaggenau. The cabinet and cellar also needed to allow the space to look appropriate during the morning and afternoon, the design incorporated front doors which fully conceal the bar, creating the illusion of a beautiful cabinet only. When the evening draws closer, the pocket doors can be stowed away to reveal a stunning bar with backlit onyx and a black marble worktop.
Davidson London adore the clever use of mechanisms in the storage. The pocket doors allow the most beautiful elements of the space, the back bar and worktop, to be revealed, while the deep drawers allow the spirit bottles to be concealed. The Collins has a sense of harmony about it, it’s the perfect marriage of classic form and superlative materials. The backlit onyx, together with the elegant, brushed brass detailing, introduces a softer, more romantic element to the design. This is juxtaposed against the luxurious black marble worktop and dapper black sycamore veneer which creates a strong silhouette.
Bernoulli Collection – A Design by Scott A. BaxterScott Baxter’s inspiration comes from many places, namely his diverse set of passions. Nothing inspires Baxter more than flying his airplane and getting a bird’s eye perspective from above. It was while piloting a Cessna over the Hamptons that Baxter got inspiration for the Bernoulli collection. The hardware suite, appropriately named Bernoulli, is a embodiment of the airplane wing. Daniel Bernoulli was a Swiss mathematician and physicist who developed a principle which led to the ability for an airplane to lift off the ground. It was important to Baxter to give a sense of utility to this collection while giving a pure nod to the design of an airplane wing. The door lever and door pull are aerodynamic in ways which create the impression of depth, the aesthetic subconsciously lifts those in the room into subtle flight. The Bernoulli Suite is composed of a Door Lever, Door Pull, and Cabinet Pull. The suite is available in the SA Baxter New York City Showroom, London Showroom, and online at www.sabaxter.com www.samuel-heath.com
Antique Brass Matt the latest finish from Samuel Heath which joins chemistry and artistry to achieve a pre-aged brass finish.
This warm brass tone features darker accents to mimic an antique or aged look, without having to wait for any natural patina to develop. The finish has a matt lacquer coating, meaning that interior designers can confidently specify this for bathroom schemes in the knowledge that the finish will maintain its look over time.
The new finish is available across all key Samuel Heath brassware collections including One Hundred Collection, Landmark Industrial, Landmark Pure, Style Moderne and Fairfield.
