President’s Message Welcome to Red Cross Children’s Carnival (RCCC) 2020. This year we celebrate our 64th year, with the theme “For the Love of Children” The Trinidad & Tobago Red Cross Society is extremely honored to host a national event of this caliber which captivates the collective brilliance of our talented bandleaders and designers, who continually have pushed the bar on creativity, innovation and splendor. Since its inception in 1956, Red Cross Children’s Carnival has solidified its place as one of the most anticipated and highlighted events on the Carnival Calendar. It has been said that when a child is exposed to culture, a door of possibility is opened! Additionally, when we cultivate a child’s enthusiastic understanding and appreciation of our diverse culture, we are facilitating a positive and implicit message that our differences as a country are valuable and honorable. Exposure and participation in our culture, can truly awaken and engage a child’s senses, developing a hunger and a zeal for discovery and a yearning to learn and grow. This then paves a path for channeling the euphoria of their experience into interest and potentially intrigue in becoming future bandleaders and designers. Red Cross Children’s Carnival is our contribution towards preserving our culture and history as a diverse society. Proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the further development of our Red Cross trailblazers Youth Club in Secondary Schools which is in partnership with the Ministry of Education. This is our commitment as an organization to give focus on our young people and the pivotal role they play in what we do. It is also our commitment to work alongside state agencies and community partners to empower, develop, coach, support and mentor our young people. Through the Trailblazers we propose to fill the education gap on resiliency by giving the youths in secondary schools the much-needed access to disaster preparedness and life education skills. RCCC is a youth event celebrating youths, we see it fit to take the proceeds from this event to further develop our youths through our Red cross Trailblazers initiative. It is my hope that we will further evolve and innovate into a more dynamic and impactful Red Cross Children’s Carnival! Let’s continue to work in solidarity “For the Love of Children” Thank you.
