Hey Key-uties! In time for Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say how thankful I am for Key Club and you guys!!! Key Club has helped me grow in more ways than one. I’ve become more confident, more social, and more passionate about service and being part of the community! I also want to thank my amazing family and lovely friends because I don’t know where I would be without them! Anyway, I love cool Fall weather, and I love November. This is probably because it’s my birthday month, and Christmas is slowly approaching! So many homes are already putting lights up, and it just makes me so so happy. Also, Moana 2 comes out on my birthday!! I can’t wait to watch it! Hopefully, it’s good.

Also, after RTC Mark from NCT is basically a member of Key Club, so try to find the 20 hidden Marks for a prize!!! Yes, the pictures of the Mark Spirit stick on the RTC pages count as well.Enjoy this issue of the Diamondback Digest!.

Merry Basically Christmas,

Hi Key-uties! Isn't the weather so nice out right now? I hope you all are enjoying it while it lasts because I know I am. Also, this means it's the perfect season to be doing those outside service events! Get outside, breathe some fresh air, and help out the community for those Key Club hours. While you're at it though, don't forget to balance your life in this busy month. I know for me as a senior, those college application deadlines are getting closer and homework is piling up so let's all work on managing our schedules this November. Hard work does pay off, especially when Desert Oasis won the D28S Spirit Stick during RTC this year (woop woop!! special thanks to Jimena). I'm so proud of all of us and I want to sincerely thank everyone for such a memorable and unforgettable last RTC experience; I really couldn't be more blessed. Furthermore, thank you to everyone who came to our snazzy November DCM hosted by none other than Desert Oasis, the Snoopy pajama theme was so adorable and I hope it increased your involvement in our division and Key Club as a whole. Thanks for such an amazing month and I'll see you all in the next holly jolly newsletter!
Gobble 'til you wobble,
Catherine. Nguyen

Happy Advisors Day to our amazing advisor Mr.McLean! He works very hard, and we appreciate everything he does for our club!

Congratulations to Malorie for winning our costume contest at our Halloween general meeting!!! She dressed up as T-bone from iCarly! Also, thank you to everyone that participated. Your costumes were amazing!

I am thankful for everything about Key Club! When I first joined Key Club as a freshman, I was scared to branch out and I remember being super shy and introverted. Now being a Junior, it has impacted me and made my life so much better in many ways! It has opened opportunities and new experiences I will forever be grateful for. Firstly, I am thankful for my division! D28S is full of amazing people and they make RTC and DCMs so enjoyable. I am especially thankful to my home club because our weekly meetings have always been something I look forward to ever since Freshman year. Lastly, I am extra thankful to my amazing board because they work so hard and they are some of my favorite people!!

I'm thankful for all the opportunities and people i've met in keyclub. Key club is such an amazing and inclusive club. You always have fun whenever you go. You get to go to all these opportunities and meet amazing people. I love going to key club and find it so interesting to learn about. I love all the little ice breakers we do each meeting and it always brightens my day. I always come home with something special to say. I love how kind the board is and how the community is. I love being able to participate in so many things such as writing cards for kids in hospitals or just playing games. It really opens you up and allows so much love. I've met so many new people and it's brought me closer and i can forever be grateful for that. i love being apart of keyclub and i'm so thankful for being in key club.

I love key club. I never stop talking about key club. Sometimes I do make it my personality because I appreciate it so much. I’ve gotten to meet so many people and do so many funky, out of the ordinary things that I would’ve never done without it. The opportunities I’ve been given are a blessing and I will never not try and get more people to give key club a go. It looks scary for the first time, but you never forget that welcoming, loving feeling that surrounds you from the people you meet. Sure I look like a weirdo to anyone who doesn’t get it, but to the ones that do, those are the ones that matter most. I love the people that support me in what I do.

I am thankful for my friends. I’m thankful that I can joke around with them and be my true self, knowing they won’t take it too seriously. I am also thankful for the fact I can talk to them about anything and they’ll give me advice when I really need it. Also, I’m grateful that they feel like they can come to me for anything even just venting. I LOVE MY FRIENDS.

I volunteered at Springs Preserve to help clean up the trail, I went with my friends and we explored and looked around the trails to look for any trash. The trails were pretty clean but we still found some small pieces of trash like water bottles and wrappers. After we were done looking around the trails for any trash, we got to look around at the museum area. It was a very enjoyable experience, it’s nice to be able to help out nature by clearing out the trash. I will be definitely be attending more Spring Preserve events.

I volunteered at Opportunity Village during their HallOVeen event. I was able to volunteer 2 different times with some of my friends from DO and SWCTA! The first time around we were in charge of making sure people didn't cross the train tracks when the train was near, we were able to enjoy some of the food with a volunteer discount (which was very delicious) When I volunteered for the second time, me and my friends were able to work the midway games! There were 4 different games that the volunteers in the area were able to rotate through, and we were in charge of restocking prizes, and helping people with the game itself. I enjoyed volunteering and I would definitely recommend signing up, even if you go alone you'll be able to meet new people from other schools! Kyla Abella, 9

I volunteered at the Blackhurst Fall Fest, and it was so much fun! Going back to an elementary school to help out with a Halloween event was fulfilling and rewarding for my inner kid-self, especially as a senior. I started with handing out candies to kids after a bean bag toss, but I was moved over to the donut walk with my friends. It was funny to volunteer at the donut walk because the kids would just circle back to get more and more donuts. I remember being that age and being super excited for the spooky season. Overall, I love putting my free-time into good use, especially when I can make someone’s day better!

I LOVED VOLUNTEERING AT FRIAS MONSTER MASH!!
This was my second (and final) year of volunteering at this event for this school, so it was a bit of a bittersweet experience for me. I was also the Lead Volunteer for this event, so I really made the most out of this event by helping my peers serve everybody efficiently and in a positive manner. I dressed up as Makima from Chainsaw Man, and I was so happy to see the little kids dress up as their favorite anime characters (shoutout to the JJK kids)! DOKC helped organize the lines, sell and serve food, gave out candy to the Trunk-orTreat vehicles, and more! The volunteers got a LOT of free food and perks at the end!

Desert Oasis Key Club had a PieIn-The-Face booth at the DO Fall Fest! Our amazing board members volunteered themselves to get pied in order to raise money for more fun service and events!

Do you want to see some videos of your friends participating in Pie-In-The-Face?

Our MVP of the night, Kayla Lee, got pied 15 times! She single-handedly raised $45+!!!

This couldn’t have been possible without our amazing VP of Apirit, Jimena Aguilera, our DOKC board, DOKC Spirit Committee, and of course, all of you guys!!!
Thank you for attending!

T C F i r s t -

This year was my very first RTC so I didn't know what to expect when signing up, but I'll definitely be coming back next year! Our theme was so cute, Big Hero 6 is my favorite Disney movie so you already know I was hype for our clubs theme. Our cheers were super fun too, and I'm so proud of us for winning our division spirit stick! I followed most of our club around to the different workshops, including bracelet making and no-sew blankets, which were super fun and I was able to meet a lot of new people during them! Another memorable thing from RTC was the spirit stick me and some of my friends made of Mark from NCT, so many people came up to us for photos and complimenting him! I think my favorite part of RTC was the big dance party at the end, even though DO made our own mosh pit in the corner.. it was super fun dancing the night away with everyone .

I dearly enjoyed RTC!! RTC has to be one of my best experiences this school year, for I got to interact more. I recall feeling nervous at first; after a cheer, I felt more excited to hang out with friends and experience what it is like to be a key club member. I was able to get useful advice and learn a lot of organizations that help the world. One highlight for RTC is the party between 6-8 because of how energetic it was. The party was where I socialized among other schools the most, and I felt elated knowing I get to meet more people with similar interests. RTC is an event that I would go to again!

My experience at RTC was amazing and unforgettable. There was many schools that came together to celebrate keyclub and their school spirit. My experience with the workshops were amazing as well, my favorite workshop was the lei making. While I wasn’t the best with making leis it was really fun with my friends. The cheers were overall my favorite thing about RTC, there were many diverse cheers throughout the whole experience it made it better. It was also amazing watching the different schools cheer with their original cheers. I loved the spirit gears and the different superhero themes as well. I wholeheartedly recommend going ro RTC whenever you have the chance to!

Hi Key-uties! My overall RTC experience was AMAZING!!! As this is my 3rd RTC, I didn’t think RTC could get better but it 100% did. All the workshops this year were so fun and less hectic than last year for sure. I got to make friendship bracelets, blankets, and participate in a Key Club game show jeopardy! During the spirit sessions, I got to see a new side as I listened to all the cheers from afar on DLT. It was so cool to see our hard work pay off and see how spirited everyone can get. We also won the division spirit stick for the first time in 3 years which made me SO happy and proud of my club. I am so glad everything went so well and I am especially grateful for my board and spirit committee. It was the best day ever and it made me more excited for next years RTC!

RTC was super fun and I was looking forward to it all month! It was and always is super fun to just hangout with friends but also get to learn stuff that’s beneficial for you/your future. It was amazing talking to new people and interacting in workshops! I also loved help make things like blankets, braclets, and cards for those who do so much for us and those in need. Being in key club is a great opportunity and being able to be apart of RTC is even greater!! R T C V e t e r a n s

My favorite part of RTC was the cheer sessions. Seeing all the other clubs’ cheers and adorable spirit gear was so fun and everyone was so creative! All the different posters and themes this year were so cool to look at, and so were the people who made them. Meeting all these new people was genuinely such a fun experience and I really look forward to next year’s RTC. I really hope more people get to join keyclub next year.
