The creation of the Arizona Peace Trail, Inc., Quartzsite ARIZONA’S Off-Road, and local clubs have provided direction and Off-Road, and local clubs have provided direction and focus for off-road fun and safety.

WEST ARIZONA PEACE TRAIL The Arizona Peace Trail is a 675-mile ultimate off-road ad-

COAST venture. It is a loop route through Mohave, La Paz, and Yuma Counties; currently the longest off-road trail in Arizona. There are 34 trail segments which are detailed in the “Arizona Peace Trail Atlas.” A digital Global Positioning route map is available for free download at: www.arizonapeacetrail.org. The Arizona Peace Trail was first conceived by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD). In July 2013, the two agencies discussed the creation a connector trail between Bullhead City, AZ in the North and Yuma, AZ in the South. The vision was to create designated desert trails for public use; and, stimulate tourism. In 2013, The Bouse Ghost Riders club under the direction of president, JC Sanders, brought land managers from federal, state, county, and city agencies, private landowners and OHV, enthusiasts together to develop the trail. By January 2014, 14 different OHV clubs with the cooperation of BLM, AZGFD, Yuma County, La Paz County, and Mohave County formed the Arizona Peace Trail, Inc., which gained non-profit status in July 2015.

QUARTZSITE OFF-ROAD

There are over one thousand miles of off-road trails in the Quartzsite area. Quartzsite Off-Road is a non-profit under the aegis of The Quartzsite Improvement Association, founded to promote safety, off-road information, and tourism. The founder and Administrator, Mark Goldberg, is a Quartzsite resident. In 2016, the “Quartzsite Off-Road Atlas” was created to provide a guide to the 1000’s of miles of area trails with topographic maps, routes, points-of-interest, laws, safety recommendations, and other information. Quartzsite Off-Road has no paid employees, and all proceeds from the sale of the Atlas are used for off-road safety and promotion; and, support for local non-profit organizations. Quartzsite Off-Road has a website, www.quartzsiteoffroad.com, and Facebook sites, “Quartzsite Off-Road,”

Happy Trails and “Quartzsite Off-Road Buy Sell and Trade.” The Atlas is available on-line, and in local stores. Off-road “Meet and Greet” informational meetings are held on the first Wednesday at QIA , November thru March, in conjunction with The Arizona Sunriders OHV Club which has also been instrumental in promoting OHV trails, safety, and fun.
