ou would be hard-pressed to walk down a bustling, business-lined street these days and not see at least one storefront with the letters CBD in their window. So, what exactly is this ubiquitous industry, and did it seemingly grow overnight?

WHAT IS CBD?

In 1950, architect Frank Redford designed this attraction as one of just seven motel courts with this unique design. These accommodations are styled after the teepees used by Indigenous peoples of the Great Plains. Despite the inspiration, Redford preferred the ring of “Wigwam Village” (another type of dwelling) to “Teepee Village,” and chose the former as the name of his creation. Today, guests can book a stay in one of 15 large “wigwam” lodgings featuring the modern conveniences of a full bathroom, cable TV, heat, and air conditioning.

CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound from the plant Cannabis sativa. DIRECTIONS With a sharp knife, make cut-out faces in two tortillas. Brush oil on both sides of all four tortillas. Place the two uncut tortillas on a baking sheet and top with ¼ cup cheese. Top each with one cut-out face tortilla.

Bake at 400° F for 5 minutes or until tortillas are golden-brown and cheese is melted. Use olives to decorate eyes
