Designers from Gucci to Stella McCartney showed off their top trends on the catwalk. Will these looks spill over from the pages of Vogue into the world of interior design? And if so, what trends should stylish homeowners be copying and which should they pass on? Here’s a sneak peek at everything in style this season.

Rosson House Museum Is a 2,800 square foot Eastlake Victorian style home, built in 1895

by Dr. and Mrs. Roland Rosson.

A classic example of the late Victorian style, it is fully restored to its original grandeur. Experience what life was like for residents of Phoenix in territorial Arizona. PHOENIX RE:imagined From its creation in 1870 and through the twentieth century, the City of Phoenix grew from an agricultural adobe village to one of the largest and fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country. Progress, however, had a cost – and the fee was often the historic and aesthetic fabric of the city. PHOENIX RE:imagined explores the urbanization of the city and how the diligent work of a preservation minded community resulted in saving historic sites like Heritage Square.

Also spotted on the runways: A penchant for all things Asian, from dresses donned with dragons and chinoiserie prints galore. Bring the Eastern look into your home with Asian-inspired accents, including everything from iconic blue and white china to Zen sculptures to Chinese-influenced wallpapers.

For those with a more traditional sized staircase, think of building shelving for books and displaying treasures, or if you use your front entry as your home’s headquarters, consider installing pullout drawers and cabinetry for shoes, coats, hats, and other outthe-door accessories. If your stairs flow into your kitchen, consider stashing little-used, smaller kitchen appliances, pots and pans, and even spices in these tight but useful spaces. Does your staircase lead near the guest bathroom? Store extra hand towels, toilet tissue, cleaning supplies, and other easy-to-grab items nearby and totally out of sight. Depending on your décor style, you can use simple baskets on shelves to store your items, or for a more elegant look, have cabinetry built-in to suit your tastes.

For those with a staircase leading into a finished basement, the options are limitless.

For a recreational space, use the under the stairs area to stow board games, video games and DVDs, and billiards or ping pong accessories close at hand. For oenophiles, turn this space into an easy to build wine rack. Or create a cozy reading nook, with a comfy chair tucked at the bottom of the stairs and shelves filled with your and your kids’ favorite books. The space can also be a perfect spot to place a desk to have an out of the way workplace for you or your kids to study.

The fashion trends included bright pinks and yellows paired with neutral grays, tans, and dark blues to tone the look down. This is a great style to steal for teen bedrooms, where balancing the hot colors can be a major plus for parents.

A few other patterns and prints that may find their from the closet to your couch: bold winter florals, brocades, winter creams, velvets, and lots of shiny fabrics. Touches of faux-fur and shearling were also hot, lending itself to throw pillows and bedding at home.

Whether you’re a trendsetter or just curious about the latest looks, fashion on the runway almost always influences the world of interior design. Our take: Borrow any elements you like and work them into your current designs but leave the rest on the runway.
