HIRING AN AGENT OR BROKERAGE FIRM? Q. When I hire an Agent or Broker to sell my property, am I getting that firm and all their Agents working for me as well? A. No, in most cases you are getting just that Agent or that Broker and their expertise. Sales Associates and Brokers are Independent Contractors. Other Agents and Brokers in that Brokerage Firm have no more incentive to sell your Agent’s/Broker’s listing than that of another Brokerage Company. They are compensated the same. So, when choosing an individual to represent you, make sure they have what you are looking for. Ask them about their success and track record in your area. It goes a long way and will save a lot of time. FACT: 92.5% of the time a property will be sold by an Agent and Company different from the one you have hired, so make sure your representative is a promoter with a high energy level.
