Sonoma County is not just a special place to grow world-class grapes and make great wines: It’s one of the most beautiful and resource-rich places on earth!

60 miles of pristine Pacific coastline and many other natural wonders are only the beginning of the story.

Sonoma County is blessed with amazing diversity of foods and produce, along with chefs who take full advantage of Sonoma’s bounty. Add to that our relaxed and friendly vibe and it all converges here.

Wine Facts: Throughout the county, grape growing and wine production are on a region-by-region basis. To pick just a few examples, cool Carneros and the Russian River Valley are best known for Chardonnay and Pinot, while the warmer Dry Creek Valley and Rockpile boasts some of the state’s best Zinfandel and the Alexander Valley is noted for its excellent Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Chardonnay, America’s most popular white wine is also the county’s leading variety with an impressive 16,000 acres. Sauvignon Blanc is a distant second among white varieties, at 2,500 acres. For red varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon heads the roster with 12,000 acres, followed by Pinot Noir, 10,000, Merlot, 7,500 and Zinfandel, with 5,000 acres. Countywide, annual production of still, sparkling and dessert wine is estimated at more than 30 million gallons, from approximately 200,000 tons of grapes.

Ingredients: 1 1/2 c shredded Butterkase 1 1/2 c shredded Fontina cheese 3 tbsp all-purpose flour 3/4 c white wine 1/4 c dry sherry

Many players don’t realize they are using golf clubs that simply aren’t suited to them. By taking your clubs to a club fitting shop you can have an analysis done on what clubs would be best suited to your stature, body type, and swing style. Some experts swear you can improve your game by several strokes by simply switching to the right clubs. Look online for shops near you that offer this customization.

If you’re truly committed to lowering your score, look for a golf training camp at a resort or simply find a local golf club that offers lessons, whether it’s private or in a group. This is a great way to get in with a group of players on your level, who could become future golf partners. Many public and private golf clubs offer

Instructions: Toss the Butterkase and Fontina cheeses with the flour in a bowl.

Place a metal bowl over a saucepan filled with two inches of water.

You may also use a conventional double boiler. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and pour the wine and sherry into the bowl. Stir in the shallots using a fork. Cook for 30 seconds stirring constantly.
