It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were welcoming our first residents, Chuck and Jean Poley, into their new home in 2003. One of the things that brings me the most satisfaction in my job is knowing how many people’s lives have been affected in a positive way when they chose to become part of the Mirabel family. I remember one of our residents telling me that he lived in the previous community where he came from for 20 years and didn’t have near as many friends there as he has after only a short time living in Mirabel. The friendliness and inclusiveness of virtually everyone who calls Mirabel home is what sets us apart from the other clubs/communities in the valley in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to work with a couple from New York recently, David and Wendy Scherl, who had decided to change their second home locale from the Palm Springs area to the Scottsdale desert. While they were here, we toured most of the other high-end clubs/ communities in north Scottsdale. They ultimately decided to make their purchase in Mirabel in large part because of this friendliness they felt whenever we spent time in our community. While we were having dinner at the clubhouse, quite a few members came over to say hi and introduce themselves including several board members. This made such an impression on the Scherls that it sealed their decision to join Mirabel and build their new home here. I would like to personally thank Vic Springer and Paul Skoog for taking the time to meet them and chat with them for a while. I would also like to thank Kim and Marilyn Woodrow for hosting them to a round of golf. It is true that our members/ residents are our best sales people and their sincere desire to welcome the Scherl’s made my job a whole lot easier. I recently extended my agreement with the homeowners association to operate Mirabel Properties out of the Gatehouse through the spring of 2023. Hopefully by that time we will be welcoming our 300th resident and I can start to think about retirement and playing a little more golf. Until next time...
