Retirement communities or nursing homes are not necessarily a good fit and they can be cost prohibitive. Luckily, today’s living arrangements offer lots of possibilities for keeping mom or dad close by, while also allowing them to have some independence and you to have some privacy.

Having a separate but small home or apartment on your property is the perfect arrangement for many elderly people looking to move closer to their grown children. Sprinkle evenly with cheese. Top with tomatoes, olives and green onions. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with tortilla chips, if desired.
