ABOUT THE DR JOHN ROBERTS QC CBE AWARDS
Descendants founded The Dr John Roberts QC CBE Annual Achievement Awards Ceremony in 2005, as a means of challenging the negative media reporting of educational attainment within African and Caribbean students - in particular, boys. In partneship with Ealing Council's Education Department, we publicly recognise the achievements and attainments of children and young people of African and Caribbean descent from schools through the Ealing Borough.
The stories of success, perserverence and raw talent of the students who have been shortlisted are celebrate at ourevent. Not only to acknowledge the unquestionably outstanding achievements but also to celebrate the sheer potential of our young people. Our future leaders, doctors, scientists, record-breaking athletes, inspiring poets, painters, teachers, pilots and activists just to name afew.
Previous winners have included, Bukayo Saka (Arsenal Footballer), Tatiana GailardMorris (Commercial Pilot) and Yethrib Mohamed (Oxford Graduate and A&E Medical Doctor). This year as always, we have had some amazing young peole shortlisted.
"On behalf of Descendants Management Committee, Trustees and staff, I would like to congratulate evert nominee here today. You should feel very proud of your achievements.
Work hard and continue to be courageous. Be determined, have a vision and run after it. If you put your mind to achieveing your goal, you will achieve your dream!
You are the future!"

ABOUT DESCENDANTS CHILDREN'S CHARITY
Celebrating 30 years, Descendants is a history and art-focused organisation aimed at children between 4-16 year old, primarily but not exclusively of African and Caribbean descent. Our charity works to create an environment where young people are able to learn and grow together, through mediums of art, craft, music, drama and dance. We recognise and promote the accomplishments made by positive role models in our community, with the view in mind that our young people will be world shapers of tomorrow.
