Once again we find ourselves in the midst of another whirlwind summer, and once again we’re up to our handlebars in events and craziness. And I’m not talking about a set of swept back beach bars here – I’m talking about stretched to the sky, Lone Star style apehangers. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. This year we decided to focus on identifying and launching new partnerships, and new events that we could build on for the future. We’re always committed to growth, but we decided that we needed to be more particular about the areas and events we expanded into.
As our summer weekends booked up, we spent more time considering the long term potential of each partnership and how they aligned with our own mission. Since getting into this business more than 15 years ago, it’s always been our goal to develop an organization built around serving the motorcycle community and supporting the efforts of charitable groups and individuals within it. It’s a pretty basic concept, but surprisingly it’s one that confuses a lot of people.
We want to build our business and reputation by partnering with local organizations and individuals trying to make a difference in the lives of others. And hopefully, it’s a positive difference.
If we focus on bringing additional energy and maybe even some additional experience and insight to folks working in the trenches – we can hopefully help make their events and operations more successful. And as a partner, ideally we can share in that success and grow with them in their community.
But wait – we’re a motorcycle magazine and basically we’re in the business of throwing biker parties, aren’t we? What does that have to do with empowering others and community service?
I think it’s pretty basic, but admittedly it confuses a lot of people. They don’t get it – so then they allow the natural cynicism of the world take over and assume that there is something nefarious going on. But there’s really not.
The example I’ve always given is that we could put up a big bulletin board along the freeway, say I-75. Maybe something BIG and BOLD that declares “REASONS TO RIDE ROCKS!” for all the world to see. Millions of folks would see it and get our message, and we could sit back and let the word spread. But the problem is that it’s just one of many such bulletin boards and anybody can put up anything. Like social media and the internet, anybody can say anything that they’d like. And with so many countless bulletin boards along the way, the message pretty much gets lost along the way.
So instead of simply posting signs and making declarations about ourselves, we’ve always sought to simply SHOW folks who we are and what we do. Instead of putting up messages about ourselves – let’s use that space (or the space within our own magazines) to promote the causes and organizations that we believe in. And as they achieve success with our support, maybe we can get our name out there with more depth and backing than just another billboard along the freeway.
And this year we’ve partnered with some great folks and we’ve already had some really great success in new markets with new brothers and sisters that share many of our same passions. Not all of the events have been successes, there’s always rain and other challenges – but new foundations have been laid. And we’ve already begun planning on how we can build for next year.
A business model that’s built around growing the riding community and the success of others? Sounds very PC and idealistic. Maybe, but we believe it’s a sound plan and it’s kept us in business for over 15 years now. And hopefully we’ve had more of an impact on the world than just another billboard along the freeway.
Thank you – and thank you for your continued support along the way. We couldn’t do ANY of this without it.
Live well and RIDE STRONG!
Sincerely,
D.A. Smith Publisher and President of

Reasons to Ride!
RtR is proud to announce that we’ve added a new YouTube channel for sharing information with riders. We have accumulated over 15 years worth of videos on Facebook and other services, but those are spread all over and some sites are now talking about cutting back on the old stuff. So we’ve decided to start developing a library of videos that are more easily accessible on YouTube. We will still to the reels and Live Ride Reports on Facebook, but we will be moving more and more content over to the new YouTube channel.
We will also start sorted playlists with Ride Reports, Ride Stop Profiles, and Event Previews. It’s our intention to build the channel into a resource that folks can access for helpful information and maybe a spot for ideas on new rides and destinations to visit.
I’m also especially proud to share that the channel and unique content on it are being managed by my son Cole. He took the initiative to start the channel and has been working on developing new content for it. With that in mind, we are committing to this being a family friendly format which we hope everyone will appreciate and respect.
To help get the channel going, we would like to invite everyone to stop by and consider hitting the “subscribe” button. If you find something you like and appreciate what we’re building, you might consider subscribing and possibly sharing to your page. If you do – and include the #ReasonsToRide tag on your post, you will have the chance to win prizes as part of our Ride n Win Challenge.. possibly even that ’49 Harley or $500 GC! We will be awarding at least 20 prizes a month based upon the YouTube subscriptions! Visit and subscribe at www.youtube.com/@ReasonsToRide

Thunder On The Strip 2025
The THUNDER ZONE Returns to Geneva-On-The-Lake!
Friday, September 5th – Sunday, September 7th
The Landing and Sunset Bar: 5475 Lake Road, Geneva-On-The-Lake, OH
While Ohio Bike Week is Ohio’s Rally and kicks off the riding season for many, Thunder On The Strip is a true “Biker Homecoming” for thousands as they wind down after a summer of riding and head into the Fall / “off-season”. What started as a way to stretch the season out one more weekend – and maybe blow out the final inventory before this historic resort town winds down at the end of summer – has evolved into a celebration of great music and the riding lifestyle. It’s a great chance to catch up and party with riding friends from across the state, before things start to get cold. The local, community driven rally is one of our all time favorites and has been a mainstay on our schedule since it started more than 15 years ago – before we even had the magazines!
Over the year’s the Rally has evolved and our “Thunder Zone” has moved down the street to the Marketplace Landing, adjacent to the Old Firehouse Winery and Sunset Bar. Friday through Sunday, we host a relaxed party with live music, vendors, and plenty of bike parking right on America’s North Coast – overlooking Lake Erie. It’s an amazing location with one of the best views on the Strip – especially as the sun sets over the lake. During the day, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the park like setting – even rolling out a blanket alongside your bike. You can’t beat it. There’s even a historic Ferris Wheel that overlooks the lake!
Here's a few event highlights that you won’t want to miss!
Friday, Sept 5th Game On Patio / Thunder Zone 6-9pm

It’s a TATTOO PARTY for anyone with ink or an appreciation for it!
Local tattoo shops are encouraged to participate in the shows and invite their customers out to showcase the work being done by their artists. Special recognition and prizes are awarded to shops having more than 4 clients and at least 1 artist on hand for the contest. Shops should register in advance by emailing

Help support local veterans through Reasons To Ride Since our launch more than 15 years ago, the RtR Crew has been dedicated to helping to support local charitable organizations, nonprofit events, and those in need. Of particular focus has always been the Veteran Community. We believe strongly that we need to not only recognize but help support those that have sacrificed for our community and nation.
As part of this commitment, we have actively sought out and worked to support Veterans organizations within the motorcycle community. We have regular features such as our “SERVICE NOTES” columns and our annual Veterans Edition.
We are looking to bring on a VETERANS AFFAIRS EDITOR as a member of our team to help direct and drive this effort. This individual does not have to have any publishing or journalism experience – and doesn’t even have to be a Veteran, although we believe that would certainly help. While the position itself is “volunteer”, financial compensation is available through sponsorships and corporate support if desired. However, this is not a “sales” position and RtR has NO desire to retain revenues generated by this program. For more than 15 years we have actively supported grass roots veterans’ organizations and ran hundreds, if not thousands, of ads and notices for events free of charge for them. And as proud as we are of this record, we want to do even more in 2025.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for the Veteran community that can help us establish a more consistent and effective resource for local Vets and their families. If you’re interested in this position, please shoot us an email at Info@ ReasonsToRide.com In addition to an overall Veterans Affairs Editor position, we have additional opportunities for folks in more regional positions. So location is not necessarily a major issue. The primary requirements are being organized, being able to talk to folks, and having a dedication to the Veterans Community.
Join now to help with our upcoming VETERAN’S EDITION, coming out this Fall.
MARY GILBERT, CMA STATE COORDINATOR
Hey there…How’s the summer going for you all? It’s been quite a ride so far! We have been busy about our tasks at hand, many events to attend and everyone has been spread out all over the State doing what we do for most all of you out there! We love it and look forward to more opportunities to meet you and ride with you all! There’s a topic on my mind that seems to be on the forefront of everyone lately. Who are we? Identity is one of the biggest places of confusion amongst the masses and I would like to share a bit of a spin on it if you don’t mind.
Have you ever been deceived by anyone? Sure you have… we all have at some point in our lives unless we are completely sheltered and not subjected to the world outside, even then if you have any type of electronic device, you still are susceptible. Deception isn’t a new thing, it has been here since the beginning of time. Let me take you to the Bible on this one…Genesis chapters 2 and 3. That’s where Adam and Eve got their start. God created them, put them in the beautiful garden to take care of and talk with them there. He only gave them one directive…do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now, there were two trees of great importance, the one I just mentioned and then the other which was the tree of life. One day the sly serpent appeared in the garden…he approached the woman and said, “Why don’t you take some fruit off of this tree?” She answered and told him what God said which was, “Oh no! We were told not to do it or we will die!” The serpent said, “No you won’t! You will just know more than you do now, and God knows you will be like Him then, knowing good and evil.” Well, we know what happened, she couldn’t resist the good-looking fruit and picked some, then gave to her husband who was with her…who didn’t stop her from doing it, so both were just as guilty of the disobedience… just sayin’ boys. So, then they realized they were naked. Why is that important? Because before they ate the fruit, they had their identity wrapped up in God’s identity because they were created in His image and character, so nakedness was not looked at as a bad thing, just a natural way of being. The enemy stole the original identity they had of purity and wholeness. Boom…the downfall of man.
Today, the enemy is doing the same thing. He gets us to doubt who we are; he has created such confusion among us that some even think they were born with a mistaken identity. Listen, God doesn’t make mistakes. He doesn’t confuse science; He created everyone and everything with a purpose and a plan. There is a reason we are who we are and that each of us is unique. Even identical twins have different fingerprints!
The reason it has been so easy for us to be deceived is because we are not ever satisfied with being satisfied with who we have been created to be. We are always trying to improve ourselves; nothing is wrong with that unless we go to extremes. I mean, you can get so addicted to going to the gym and working out that you become too self-absorbed and nothing else matters. Or we get on a weight loss kick and become anorexic or something…. probably not going to be an issue with me because I do enjoy a good piece of peanut butter pie now and then, but I do know some people.
we travel on will eventually lead us to Him IF we open our eyes to see ourselves in His creation and open our hearts to His loving salvation. Then we will be complete, and our identity will not be mistaken.
So, what’s my point here? The point is that it is so important to our Heavenly Father for us to realize that our completeness is found only in Him. That our true identity is at the center of His being. Who we are and who He has created us to be is grounded deeply in His love for us. All the choices we make, all the turns we take, all the roads
We are who God says we are…nothing more, nothing less. How about grabbing onto the fruit of His righteousness and see the enemy for what he truly is…an identity thief.
Catch you in the Wind…

Nestled in the picturesque valley town of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, Dale’s Wheels Through Time stands as both a museum and a living testament to the passion and perseverance of American motorcycling. Revered among enthusiasts and travelers alike, this unique institution is more than a mere repository of mechanical artifacts; it is a vibrant celebration of ingenuity, adventure, and the unbreakable American spirit that has always ridden on two wheels.
The story of Dale’s Wheels Through Time begins with Dale Walksler, a visionary whose fascination with motorcycles blossomed at a young age. Born in 1952, Walksler built his first motorcycle at just 15, igniting a lifelong love affair with the machines that would one day define his legacy. In 1967, he opened his first motorcycle shop in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and began to amass a collection of rare and classic motorcycles. This passion reached new heights in 2002, when Walksler moved his extensive collection from Illinois to Maggie Valley, founding what would become Wheels Through Time Museum. His dream was simple yet profound: to share the story of American motorcycling with the world in a way that was engaging, authentic, and alive.
Step inside Wheels Through Time, and you are transported through more than a century of innovation, competition, and craftsmanship. The museum houses over 350 rare machines, spanning from the earliest days of motorized travel to the golden age of American manufacturing. Motorcycles, memorabilia, and vintage automobiles fill every corner, each with its own remarkable story.
• Early American Motorcycles: The collection boasts some of the earliest examples of motorcycles ever produced in the United States, including rare models from Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Henderson, and Crocker. Visitors can marvel at machines dating back to the early 1900s, each lovingly restored to working order.
• The Art of Restoration: What sets Wheels Through Time apart is not just the rarity of its collection, but the fact that almost every machine on display is in running condition. Dale Walksler’s philosophy was that motorcycles are meant to live and breathe, not gather dust. Frequent live demonstrations and the legendary “start-ups” are core to the museum’s appeal, with engines roaring to life in the hands of passionate staff.
• Race Bikes and Legends: The museum is home to legendary racing motorcycles, including board track racers, hill climb machines, and bikes that conquered the flats at Daytona and Bonneville. Each tells a story of daring riders and dramatic contests, connecting the visitor to a time when speed and innovation were pursued at all costs.
• Automotive Artifacts: In addition to motorcycles, the museum features a select array of vintage automobiles, including rare American cars and unique prototypes. These vehicles add a broader dimension to the museum’s narrative, highlighting the interplay of technology and culture in the 20th century.
Every machine at Wheels Through Time has a story, meticulously researched and lovingly preserved. Some of the most notable pieces include:
• “The Traub” – Often called the “world’s rarest motorcycle,” this 1916 machine was discovered bricked up in a Chicago wall in the 1960s. Its unique engineering and mysterious origins have baffled experts for decades, and it remains a star attraction.
• Harley-Davidson prototype models – From Flathead to Knucklehead, the museum displays pivotal motorcycles that shaped the American industry, including prototypes and limited-production runs that exist nowhere else.
• Military Motorcycles – The collection includes significant military motorcycles from both World Wars, highlighting their role in history and the evolution of rugged design.
• Custom and Experimental Bikes – Custom builds and innovative prototypes reflect the ingenuity of American mechanics and their relentless pursuit of performance and style.
The essence of Dale’s Wheels Through Time is not only the machines but the spirit they represent. Each motorcycle is a symbol of freedom, exploration, and the pursuit of dreams. Visitors leave with more than memories; they depart inspired by the living legacy of inventors, racers, and everyday riders who helped shape the American landscape.
Unlike traditional museums where artifacts are confined behind velvet ropes, Wheels Through Time lives up to its promise as “The Museum That Runs.” On any given day, visitors might witness rare bikes started up, their engines growling and sputtering as they did decades ago. Staff and volunteers, often clad in period attire, share stories and technical details, bridging the gap between eras.
Dale Walksler was known for personally engaging with visitors, sharing his encyclopedic knowledge, and, most importantly, firing up the museum’s treasures. Since Dale Walksler’s passing in 2021, this dedication to living history has been carried on by his son, Matt Walksler. Matt continues to uphold his father’s mission of keeping the history not just preserved but alive. Under Matt’s stewardship, Wheels Through Time continues to expand its collection, enhance its educational outreach, and foster connections with enthusiasts around the globe. New acquisitions and ongoing restoration projects promise that the story will continue for generations to come.
Wheels Through Time is not just a museum, but a vibrant community hub. Throughout the year, it hosts events, motorcycle rallies, and charity rides that draw visitors from around the world. Educational programs, both onsite and virtual, invite young and old to explore the mechanics, history, and cultural significance of motorcycles in America.
For many, a visit becomes a pilgrimage—a chance to step into the annals of history and feel the heartbeat of American innovation. The museum’s presence in Maggie Valley has also revitalized the local economy, drawing tourism and fostering a deep sense of pride in the region’s heritage.
Dale’s Wheels Through Time stands as a testament to the enduring allure of American motorcycles and the people who brought them to life. Through its remarkable collection, passionate staff, and commitment to living history, the museum invites everyone to experience the magic of wheels in motion. In the words of Dale Walksler himself, “It’s not just about the bikes—it’s about the stories, the people, and the spirit that keeps them running.” For anyone seeking a journey through the mechanical soul of America, there is simply no place like Wheels Through Time.

As we enter the second half of the 2025 Bike Show Series, we are proud to announce the addition of yet another class / competition to our Bike Show Series – a LOUDEST PIPES CHALLENGE! Unlike our audio / sound competition, this one is all about the VOLUME!
At select Bike Shows and Bike Night Tour Stops, we will now be hosting LOUDEST PIPES competition for motorcycles. All makes, models, and years are welcome to join in the fun as we test the bikes and see which bikes really crank up the decibels! We will have actual decibel meters on hand to determine the scores or the bikes and we will then present awards to the folks with the top score! As with all of our shows, there is an absolute understanding that this is all about having fun and a good time as we celebrate our rides with Brothers and Sisters of the road. We encourage everyone to pre-register for the bike shows – to not only score the free swag, but to ensure that we have the Pipes Competition as part of the schedule. It will NOT be offered at every show. For any questions or interest in joining the Tour, email us at BikeShowInfo@gmail.com
Every year it seems as though Mother Nature takes special joy in targeting our bike nights, rallies, and especially the BIKE SHOWS with her showers; but of course this year seems especially wet.
In instances where the forecast calls for more than30-50% rain, we will work with our host partners to make a call on rescheduling the bike show whenever possible. This is certainly not because we believe that all the bikes are trailer queens that can’t stand a little rain – but because of several distinct facors. First and foremost, we are concerned about the safety of all of our participants. We don’t want anyone to get in an accident or have other problems as the result of being out in especially challenging weather – when we could have simply waited for a better day. Secondly, we understand that a lot of folks have invested a lot of time and resources into their show bikes. Some bikes go through a grueling and especially invasive detailing process prior to the shows – and we appreciate the shiny stuff at the shows. We don’t folks to weigh all of that against the chance of getting caught in the rain, in order to participate in the show. And lastly, we want to host a fun and successful show!
We want to host fun, exciting shows with lots of folks having a good time. Sheltering under a tree or small tent, or simply standing in the rain for the afternoon – isn’t as much fun as a nice summer day. And more than likely, we won’t get as many folks coming out if the forecast calls for rain. And our shows are all about the folks – as well as the bikes themselves.
So, if the forecast calls for rain – we will be considering all of this, and the availability of a new date for the event. Please follow the event on Facebook or register in advance for updates. We will be emailing the pre-registered folks and posting updates to the event itself on Facebook, in the event of any changes.
If the event is rescheduled, we will offer refunds for those not able to participate on the new date for a limited time.
Reasons to Ride has always sought to present unique trophies and awards at the Bike Shows, and this year we are once again kicking things up even more with the introduction of custom acrylic medallions. These custom full color acrylic medallions will be presented to Best of Class and Judges Choice winners at regional and bike night shows this season. We are also developing custom layered trophies for the Best of Show Awards. These medallions will be presented to the exhibitors as part of the awards ceremony, hung around the neck by our own Iron Angels! Later, though, they can be hung on racks or displays – or even mounted onto the bikes. We will also be bringing back the popular wall plaques to go along with the medallions. We love seeing all the pictures of exhibitors displaying the wall plaques on their office, shop, and garage walls – even in their trailers! We will have some of the JUMBO Best of Show plaques as well – but do realize that the 3’ placards aren’t the easiest to take on the bikes! We will have smaller ones also available for those that prefer them.
Check out the custom lanyard displays available online at ReasonsToRide.com
If you’re a local builder or work with a local shop, we’d like to extend an invitation to come out and join us at an upcoming RTR BIKE SHOW! While you’re welcome to join us at any shows, we’d especially like to encourage you to join us at a show in your area. Builders and shops are encouraged to bring your clients out and showcase your work. For the rallies, shops can even set up and offer services during the rallies. Or they might just set up and sell t-shirts and other swag or parts. For shows in their area, shops can show off their work and connect with local riders and future customers. Shops will be able to sponsor their customers in the shows as a means of showcasing their work as well. These sponsorships and even the display space will often be available at NO COST to RtR Advertisers and Sponsors.
For most shows there will be limited space available, so we would encourage everyone to plan ahead.

Ingredients
• 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
• 3 yellow onions, cut into thin slices
• 1/2 tablespoon butter
• 1/4 cup beef broth
• 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
• 1/4 teaspoon thyme
• 3 splashes Worcestershire sauce
• 4 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese
• Garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, to taste Instructions
• Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
• Cook the onions slowly over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. This process should take about 25-30 minutes. If the onions become too dry add some beef broth to the pan.
• Near the end of the cooking time add the balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Stir well to combine the ingredients and let them cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
• Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
• Season the chicken breasts on both sides with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken breasts to a baking pan and top them with the caramelized onions. Place one slice of cheese over each chicken breast.
• Bake for 25 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
• Once the chicken is cooked place it under the broiler for 1 minute or until the cheese is golden.
Ingredients
• 1 large white onion, diced
• 1 package (8 oz.) egg noodles
• 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 tsp garlic salt
• one package (3 oz.) cream cheese
• 1 lb. ground beef
• ½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, or more to taste
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp white sugar
Instructions
• Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease.
• Stir in garlic salt, salt, and tomato sauce. Mix until well combined, then simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove the skillet from heat and cover.
• In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles until al dente, then drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking.
• Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
• In a mixing bowl, combine diced onion, sour cream, and cream cheese until smooth.
• Layer half of the noodles in the bottom of the casserole dish. Top with half of the sour cream mixture, then half of the beef mixture. Repeat layers.
• Sprinkle the top generously with Cheddar cheese.
• Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
• Remove from the oven, serve warm, and enjoy!
