Or, for some family fun that doesn’t require you to get your winter woolies on, head to the Assembly Rooms for comedy capers and lots of laughs at this year’s panto, Dick Whittington. In the new year, we’re excited to be welcoming back two kids’ TV favourites. Bob The Builder brings music, dance and, of course, plenty of fixing; whilst Peppa Pig and her brother George go on a treasure hunt.

Science Museum Live on Tour will unleash children’s inner Einstein, but they’ll be too busy exclaiming ‘wow – cool!’ at the dangerous demonstrations to realise it’s educational. Who says learning can’t be fun?

The BFG – Big Friendly Giant – is a dream-blowing giant who blows lovely dreams into the bedrooms of sleeping children. The two soon become the best of friends, feasting on disgusterous snozzcumbers and making whizzpoppers together.

But catasterous disastrophe strikes. The other giants are not nearly so nice. Their favourite pastime is feasting each night on human beans, and they have set their sights on their next meal – the chillders of England. Sophie and the BFG quickly make plans to save them, enlisting help in their battle against the other giants.

With a twinkle in his eyes, West End star PAUL NICHOLAS will be pacing into pantoland as the evil King Rat, proving he’s no longer Just Good Friends as he plans, plots and ploys to destroy Dick’s dreams. Flying in to star alongside him is Birds of a Feather’s LINDA ROBSON as Fairy Bow Bells.

Joining in the tomfoolery and teasing with his comic capers will be MIKE ‘SQUEAKY’ McCLEAN as Idle Jack and returning for a second year will be Hi-5’s LUKE ROBERTS as Dick and Derby-favourite, IAN GOOD as Sarah the Cook.

Derby Theatre Derby Theatre is located within Westfield Derby (see map). The most convenient car park is Westfield Basement accessed from Traffic Street.

Please be aware that spaces in both car parks are limited, so we advise you to leave plenty of time for finding a space at one of the many other car parks around the city centre.
