DENVER’S HOME FOR LIVE THEATRE
2024/25 SEASON
2024/25 SEASON
The non-profit Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is the Rocky Mountain region’s premier performing arts organization — and we’re on a mission to engage and inspire one million people per year through the transformative power of live theatre.
Opening its doors on New Years Eve 1979 in downtown Denver’s Arts Complex, the DCPA consists of six programming lines that place our guests at the center of everything we do. We bring Broadway’s hottest touring shows and classic Cabaret to the Mile High City, while our Tony Award-winning Theatre Company produces handcrafted classics, world premieres, and modern hits with help from local artisans. We are an incubator for new play development, honing works that have been produced in regional theatres, on Broadway, and on the big screen. Off-Center is an industry leader in immersive theatrical experiences, constantly pushing the limits of our artform. And our theatrically trained Event Services staff collaborates with clients to host unforgettable events in dramatic spaces.
At the DCPA, we go way beyond the stage, nurturing a lifelong love for theatre in students of all ages through Education and Community Engagement and tailor-made Theatre for Young Audiences productions. And together, we’re engaging with people from every corner of our community to build a more inclusive home for all artistic voices.
Join us for a show, class, or community event — we can’t wait to entertain you!
No need to go to New York for the best that Broadway has to offer. We bring the shows to you!
Known for having the best patrons in the business, the DCPA is regularly chosen to launch national tours such as THE BOOK OF MORMON, KIMBERLY AKIMBO, and Pippin. Plus, our audiences occasionally have the first chance to see shows like Disney’s Frozen and The Little Mermaid before they make it big on Broadway. World-renowned blockbusters including Hamilton, Wicked and Disney’s The Lion King keep rolling into Denver thanks to devoted patrons like you!
Feel the energy of a Broadway show in our fabulous Buell Theatre or Ellie Caulkins Opera House. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.
For the 2024/25 season, we’re bringing you eight electrifying productions, ranging from jazz-age musicals to whimsical adaptations of your favorite films. Individual shows and subscription packages are ON SALE NOW!

The Tony® Award-winning Best Musical that took the world by storm is back.
THE WIZ returns “home” to stages across America in an all-new Broadway tour, the first one in 40 years.
This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway — from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world.
With direction by Schele Williams (The Notebook, revival of Disney’s Aida), choreography by JaQuel Knight (Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” Black Is King) and additional material by Tony-nominated and Emmy-nominated writer and TV host Amber Ruffin (“The Amber Ruffin Show,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers”), this dynamite infusion of ballet, jazz, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road. WELCOME TO MUSICAL COMEDY HEAVEN!
Featuring one of the most iconic scores of all time by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, an updated book from Harvey Fierstein based on the original classic by Isobel Lennart, tap choreography by Ayodele Casel, choreography by Ellenore Scott, and direction from Michael Mayer, this love letter to the theatre has the whole shebang!
The sensational Broadway revival dazzles with celebrated classic songs, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” “I’m the Greatest Star,” and “People.” This bittersweet comedy is the story of the indomitable Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. Everyone told her she’d never be a star, but then something funny happened — she became one of the most beloved performers in history, shining brighter than the brightest lights of Broadway.

The program encourages students to enter their original plays to the Middle and High School Playwriting Competition through free playwriting workshops offered to school statewide. This program parallels the process of the Colorado New Play Summit and produces readings of the three winning high school plays.
This program works with community partners in year-long residencies with communities of adults with physical and cognitive disabilities exploring their creativity and artist voice. Each residency ends in a performance to celebrate the artistry and work of each community.
