MISSION

Denver Academy inspires and empowers diverse learners through student-centered, differentiated and transformative education.

Individual Differences Respect and Responsibility Community and Nurturing Relationships The Transformative Power of Education

VISION FOR 2022

Denver Academy will be recognized both locally and nationally as a top school for diverse learners within a culture of challenge, success and school pride.

Dear Family and Friends of Denver Academy, When the DA community comes together in times of need, it’s truly inspiring. And when the DA community can’t come together in person, we show resilience and ingenuity. In that spirit, we are coming together virtually for DA’s Speakeasy Give Greatly gala event. We organize this event each spring (23 years now!) to give as greatly as we can to support new and returning students who will need tuition assistance to attend Denver Academy next school year. All proceeds from this annual event go directly to the Tuition Assistance Program. What is the impact of our participation and giving on this occasion? 112 current DA students were able to enroll this year because they received tuition assistance. That’s more than one in four students! A successful 2019 Gala provided one-quarter of the $1.46 million available for tuition assistance awards ($369,848), an incredible outcome. With an average award of $13,047, the Gala proceeds are assisting an estimated 28 of those 112 students. Most importantly, the students who depend on this program will have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their dreams. The impact of giving is magnified at this unprecedented time in our history. So, let’s “speakeasy and give greatly” to ensure we help as many students as possible who need a DA education and whose families depend on the Tuition Assistance Program. We are honored and inspired by the support of our sponsors and donors. Your generosity is so important to the success of our event. And of course, none of this would be possible without the talents and skills of our Gala Committee and volunteers. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Be well,

Mark T. Twarogowski Headmaster 2020 Gala

tuition assistance program WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT? Families receiving assistance share their life-changing stories… My son began DA as a freshman. He was nervous. Within a short time, he was a different child. He was happy! My only regret was that I did not send him sooner. I didn't think I could. I am a single parent and the sole support of my son. I never dreamt I could send him to Denver Academy. I am eternally grateful for the tuition assistance program. Without this program I have no doubt that my son would have dropped out of high school. I also have no doubt that he likely would not be here today. My deepest appreciation to all who made this possible for my son.” - Mother of a senior (Class of 2020) Our amazing son has become someone that we feel we have had the honor to meet for the first time, in so many ways. The depth of his thinking, the expansion of his creativity, the elevation of his self-awareness, and his capacity to advocate, trust, risk-take, and cultivate himself as a learner, is unparalleled. He now believes in himself. There is no greater gift that we could ever receive. We are so thankful, stronger, and better as a family, because of Denver Academy. Thank you, thank you, with all our hearts for the honor of getting to grow and experience our potential together with you!” - Parents of an 8th grader
