Walk 'n Talk
all ages welcome
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Denton County has partnered with Denton Parks and Rec to encourage outdoor socialization and movement.
An eight-week program. An agent will lead the outside education and walking class. Locations vary.
Tuesdays beginning in March 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Dementia Friendly Nature Walk
Join Dementia Friendly Denton County with an Elm Fork Master Naturalist as a guide.
Meet up in a new park each week for a walk on a paved path for exercise, education, and sensory simulation. Caregivers are required to attend.
Wednesdays beginning in April 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Quakertown Park Trail of the Trees
Live Oak Trail, .37 mi | Pecan Trail, .5 mi | Cedar Trail, .83 mi
Trail of the Trees in Quakertown Park has several trail access points, including the Denton Senior Center, Denton Civic Center, and Emily Fowler Library parking lots. In-park signs are posted throughout the park.

Charm Trip
Oct. 16-22, 2022
Take an unforgettable trip through Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, and Jekyll Island, GA for a real Southern Charm experience. Denton Parks and Recreation has partnered with Collette Travel to offer all-inclusive senior trips.
This trip will stay in the Historic District in Charleston, the Historic District in Savannah, and Jekyll Island in Georgia. Additional day tours are available.
Cancellation options and trip insurance are also offered through Collette Travel. Price discounts are best for two people sharing a room, but single travelors are always welcome. Deposits are due by April 16, 2022. For more information, contact center manager, Nicole Brasher.

Let's Leave Town and Explore

Our day trips go all over the metroplex. Most involve moderate walking or could include stairs. Please speak to staff about any specific concerns you may have. Trips fill up very early, however waitlists are maintained. Caregiver assistance is not provided. Unless other wise noted, lunch or dinner is Dutch treat unless otherwise noted. Be sure to check where the bus picks up from when you register.
Kimbell Art Museum
February 24 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Browse the permanent exhibit, or pay extra for any special exhibition.
Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
March 23 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit the permanent exhibit, learn what actions world leaders took, and about the resiliance of the attacked.
Klyde Warren Park in Dallas
May 18 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Built in 2012 over the Woodal Rogers Freeway, this park turns an urban area into a beautiful outdoor escape.
Fort Worth Botanical Gardens
April 20 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Over 110 acres of lush landscaping in the older botanical gardens in Texas.
