County wants to go back to table Lawmakers hope to renegotiate with unions By Chris Morris denpubs@denpubs.com ELIZABETHTOWN — The chairman of the Essex County Boar d of Supervisors hopes to renegotiate the terms of a contract with county workers. With two of the state’s biggest unions – the Public Employees Federation and the Civil Service Employees Association – striking deals in recent weeks to stave off layoffs, Randy Douglas wants the union that represents the county’s workforce to sit down at the bargaining table. The county is currently in the final year of a four -year contract with the local Civil Service Employees Union, which r epresents about 400 county employees. Douglas, a Democrat from Jay, said the county needs some concessions in order to present a balanced budget. But that scenario doesn’t appear likely, he added.
McKenna Boisvert and Madison Egglefield wind up to throw candy to the hundreds of spectators lining the road during the E-Town Day Parade July 16. The parade led the crowd to Cobble Hill Golf Course for more fun and games, with a fireworks show capping the evening. See more photos on page 3 and online at the Valley News Facebook page. RAY BROOK — Salim “Sandy” Lewis opened his remarks befor e the APA Board of Commissioners July 14 by saying he was asked to come before the group as “a peacemaker,” by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
But that is where the peacemaking ended. During the public comment period before the APA board, Lewis did not mix any words. “It’s my fer vent wish that this agency s u c c e e d , ” Lewis said, but
