ELIZABETHTOWN — After six months away from his home and school, 16-year old Elizabethtown-Lewis student Connor Marvin has returned with a new heart and the ambition to get back to golf, friends and his school work. “Monday was my first day back, and it was great to see

my friends who I hadn’t seen in the past six months while I was at the hospital,” Marvin said. On March 1, Marvin underwent heart transplant surgery at the Boston Children’s Hospital to treat familial dilated cardiomyopathy. This was the second heart transplant in the Marvin family for this condition. A year prior to Connor’s surgery, his older brother Brock had undergone the same procedure at the same

hospital Dec. 11, 2010. Connor has been at the Boston Children’s Hospital through all of 2012 and into last year. Now that Connor is back home, he said coming home to the Adirondacks meant a great deal to him. “It is a lot more refreshing than the big buildings and pavement, my home is the small buildings and the grass,” Connor said. “Boston’s a great city, but it’s

no Elizabethtown.” The High school sophomore returned to Elizabethtown on Tuesday, April 17, and returned to regular classes on Monday. Connor said he hopes to get back on track with his studies, his sports teams and start looking into colleges. “The school and the community as a whole has been very supportive and I want to thank everyone for all they have done,” Connor said.
