denpubs@denpubs.com ELIZABETHTOWN — Elise Stefanik has won the race to represent New York’s 21st Congressional District, becoming the youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress. Stefanik, 30, soundly defeated opponents Aaron Woolf, a Democrat, and Green Party candidate Matt Funiciello, shortly after returns started coming late Tuesday, putting a definitive end to the prolonged race for the open seat being vacated by Congressman Bill Owens. With 564 of the 589 precincts in the 12 counties reporting shortly after midnight, Stefanik clocked 53.4 to Woolf’s 32 percent. Funiciello garnered 10.8 percent. At 10:40 p.m, Stefanik addressed her supporters at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. “Tonight we have made a little history in the North Country,” she said. “Every vote I take I will ask myself one question, will this help the residents of the North Country? “Aaron and Matt were both gracious and I expressed my appreciation to them for their hard-fought races,” she continued. Christopher Chevrolet to host re-opening event to showcase new look By Keith Lobdell keith@denpubs.com
TICONDEROGA Ñ Christopher Chevrolet will officially re-open their doors to the community Thursday, Nov. 13, to show off their new look at the Ticonderoga dealership. The renovations at the car dealership started in March and were finished by the second week in July, according to General Manager Joe Orta. “We gutted it down to the frame and rebuilt it,” Orta said. “The showroom is brand new, the customer lounge is new. The general office is new. We also replaced the roof. It was two years of planning and
GM has certain specifications we had to meet in the building.” This is the third renovation the business has gone through. The building was first overhauled in 1988 when Christopher opened and again in 1995-96. “The customers are very important and we want them to feel comfortable when they come in,” Orta said. “We want the customer to feel they are at home, not in a dealership.” Orta said for the first time, the members of his sales team have offices which are separated by dividers. “It allows for more privacy,” he said. Another new feature to the dealership is a drive

through service department. “When you pull up for service, the door will open automatically and you can drive right in,” Orta said. “You do not have to get out of your car, which is nice with winter coming up or during a heavy rain storm.” At the front of the store, there is new LED lighting and a new center entrance for customers. “Customers can now park in front and walk right in,” Orta said. “A lot of people tell me they feel like they are in a new dealership.” Orta said the feedback from the community has been positive.
