TICONDEROGA Ñ St. MaryÕ s plans to be back in their familiar home when the school bell rings to start the 2015-16 academic year. Father Kevin McEwan said St. MaryÕ s Church is hopeful the Catholic elementary and middle school will be back to normal one year after a suspected arson swept through the facility Sept. 5. Ò There are so many factors that will go into this, but that is our goal to have the doors re-opened and students back in their classrooms for the start of the 2015 school year,Ó McEwan said. After inspection, the building was not deemed to be a complete loss but a lot of work will have to be done. Ò The building is going to be repaired with extensive work being done on the second floor,” McEwan said. “We will be replacing the roof and structural steel in certain areas of the second floor. We are not going to the ground with this, but the repairs are going to be fairly extensive.Ó McEwan said there will still be assessment of the facility going on as the work is completed. Ò We will have to investigate as pieces are coming apart, so there is still a little uncertainty,Ó he said. In the meantime, students still continue to go to school at the Ticonderoga First United Methodist Church and St. MaryÕ s Church basement. CONTINUED ON PAGE 5

TICONDEROGA Ñ The Adirondack Shakespeare company may be small, they may be young, but as Shakespeare writes in Ò A Midsummer NightÕ s Dream,” “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” This fully-professional acting company celebrates their fifth season this year and is bringing back a fall tour for the second year in a row. Understanding why this company has been so successful is simple: they are fresh, they are mo-
tivated and they are real. Founders Tara Bradway and Patrick Siler remain true to their creative vision which started as just a desire for change back in 2008. Bradway and Siler were both working as actors in Wilmington, Del. when they began to become dissatisfied with the way things were going. As an actor, one must always follow the vision the director has in mind, and often times actors donÕ t see eye to eye with the direction a production is going. Bradway sipped on her pumpkin-spiced latte and said, “We were unsatisfied with the development. It

felt like things were getting in the way of the story.Ó It was then and there that Tara and Patrick decided to start their own company, one that could be stripped of all the unnecessary additions and just be exactly what it was meant to be. Ò We got rid of everything except the text,Ó said Bradway. Ò Well, no not everything,Ó Siler interjected, Ò that would just be like reading it on the radio.Ó Ò Well yes, we still wanted it to be a live theatrical production,” Bradway clarified.
