SCHROON — Off the momentum of a celebration of their first century in the local hills, the Seagle Music Colony is not resting on its laurels. Instead, it is full-steam ahead as the summer classroom for opera and musical theatre
students in the Adirondacks embarks into its second 100 years. The vision of the future started July 14, as Seagle staff, board members and local residents turned out for the groundbreaking for a new nine-bed housing unit, which will host teachers and students. “This is the first new construction in 11 years,” said Seagle General Director Tony Kostecki. “This is phase one of our vision for the future over the next 10 to 15 years.” Artistic Director Darren Woods said the

Jim Cawley’s recreation of original Star Trek opening for fan tours TICONDEROGA — Opening the “Star Trek: The Original Series” sets in Ticonderoga to public tours is being lauded as a major boost to tourism in the area. Ticonderoga resident James Cawley said he is observing the 50th anniversary of the Gene Roddenberry franchise by opening his “Star Trek: The Original Series” sets for Lohr daily tours. McKinstry Cawley has been producing Star Trek Writer New Voyages Internet webisodes on the sets, using the original “Star Trek” characters, and in many cases with actors from the 1966-69 show. Cawley’s studio is in a former supermarket and dollar store in downtown Ticonderoga.
