SCHROON — Schroon Lake 2012 graduate Tiffany Messing is tapping her way to her dream. Messing recently auditioned for the Rockette’s Summer Intensive program. While she didn’t make it, the experience has made her more determined than ever to become a Rockette. The summer intensive program is not a prerequisite to becoming a member of the famed dancing group, but it’s an opportunity to train with them, “like a master class with a famous singer” and gain valuable experience, said the applicant. The Schroon native started dancing at two when she began her training with Norma Strong. At the age of 10, Tiffany went to the Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular show with her sister, fell in love and found her dream. She said she’s learned throughout her life to “want to be the lead” but she’s always been drawn to the role of the chorus girl. “You have this beautiful spectacle in front of you,” she said. And you don’t have to worry about missing what the lead is doing because everyone is doing the same thing.”
