TICONDEROGA Ñ Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare and Moses Ludington Adult Home are being floated as up for sale by the Inter-Lakes Health board. Spokesperson Jane Hooper was quick to point out no official moves have been made, but that preliminary talks had taken place into selling the two nursing home care facilities that are part of the Moses Ludington Hospital campus. Ò They are not sold as of now,Ó Hooper said. Ò The Inter-Lakes board is really investigating into if this is going to be a good thing. A lot has to be done before we can even move forward.Ó Inter-Lakes Board of Directors Vice Chairman Bob Dedrick said the decision is a financial one. Ò The board determined that this would dramatically improve the financial condition of Inter-Lakes Health, allowing it to protect the hospital, along with the other facilities it owns,Ó he said. Ò ILH is working with an organization that has expressed interest in purchasing and maintaining these important services.Ó Ò There is discovery and due diligence that needs to be done on both sides,Ó Hooper said. Ò Both sides are looking at this and saying, Ô can we make this work.Õ Ó CONTINUED ON PAGE 4

Growth spurt: Paradox Brewery expanding By Keith Lobdell keith@denpubs.com
SCHROON Ñ The owners of Paradox Brewery had a five year business plan, complete with expansion of their Schroon plant and more. Not even two years into the venture, they are already there. Ò We are looking forward to this year,Ó said Casey Devine of Paradox Brewery. Ò We had a plan in place of where we wanted to be five years in the future and we are there now. Everything has grown
so fast, We have been keeping up with it as best we can.Ó The new 2,100-sqaure feet extension will add more variety and brewing capacity to the business. Ò This will increase our capacity by 60 to 70 percent,Ó co-owner Dave Bruce (along with Paul McRocka and Vaughn Clark) said. Ò It really bucks up the 10-barrell system we started with.Ó The expansion will also expand the companyÕ s tasting room, which Devine said has become a popular destination over the past two summers. Ò The new tasting room will be great,Ó he said.
Ò We have had events over the past two years and have had people from all over stop into the tasting room. This addition will expand the room upstairs and allow for more seating.Ó Ò We have had a slew of folks stopping into our tasting room,Ó Bruce said. Devine said one person who makes frequent stops at the company first learned about Paradox while hosting a competition for Blue Line microbreweries at a New York City bar. CONTINUED ON PAGE 17
