By Keith Lobdell keith@denpubs.com SARANAC LAKE — After scrapping plans to set up an office and small retreat for veterans on Glenwood Drive, officials at Homeward Bound Adirondacks (HBA) say they are still looking for property in this village to use as a base of operations. On Tuesday, June 26 — a day after Glenwood Drive neighbors voiced opposition to the project at a Saranac Lake Village Board meeting — Homeward Bound Board of Directors President Bob Ross issued a statement saying the organization was pulling the plug on its latest plans. “As a consensus of support is not now available, HBA is, with great disappointment, withdrawing from pursuit of the 124

tion revealed they were allegedly possessing and selling cocaine and ecstacy. Brett M. Richardson, 24, of Lake Placid was arrested in Lake Placid; Gregory A. Cadiz, 24, of Plattsburgh was arrested in Morrisonville; and Branden M. Bashaw, 25, of Bangor was arrested in Bangor. All three were ar-

two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Lake Placid Police Chief Bill Moore said the Essex County Drug Task Force has been investigating the individuals for a year and hope more investigation will lead law enforcement to the source of the narcotics.
LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid Village Board members Thursday, June 28 in a special meeting adopted the 2012-13 village budget barely under the state-mandated tax cap. In 2012-13, the amount to be raised by taxes (tax levy) will be $3,442,393, an increase of $109,157 or 3.27 percent. The 2011-12 tax levy was $3,333,236. CONTINUED ON PAGE 5
