Court project begins Sentinels score homecoming win

By Fred Herbst fred@denpubs.com PORT HENRY — Construction has started on an addition to the town of Moriah court building. Champlain Valley Tec students are building a 576 square feet addition at the current court building to help the town meet a state mandate. Town employees and community volunteers laid the foundation and did site work to ready the project for students. Moriah Supervisor Tom Scozzafava said CV-Tec instructors Tom Rodriguez and Kevin Shaw are excited about the project. “The kids were here the other day to look over the site,” Scozzafava said. “You should have seen the look on their faces. They’re excited to get going.” Scozzafava thanked those who laid the foundation. “This is a really good community project,” he said. New York State has mandated court expansion in Moriah since 2008. The project will be financed by a grant from the state Office of Court Administration. Scozzafava said the project

Ticonderoga enjoyed its Homecoming weekend, posting a 27-8 victory against St. Lawrence in Northern Football Conference action Oct. 8. The Sentinels used a punishing ground game and rugged defense to secure the victory. Ti ran for 267 yards, while holding St. Lawrence to 137 yards in total offense. See sports.

No school at Ti, St. Mary’s Parent conferences have been scheduled for Monday, Oct. 18, in the Ticonderoga Central School District. Teachers will be available in their rooms from noon to 7 p.m. for parents to meet with teachers to discuss their children’s progress in school. Parents who signed up during the open house or have been requested by individual teachers will be notified of appointments. People who not receive a notification can set up a conference by calling the middle school at 585-7442, ext. 216.

Homecoming Ticonderoga High School celebrated Homecoming with a week of activities, concluding with a pep rally, the induction of four members into the school booster club’s hall of fame and the traditional homecoming football game Oct. 8. Kristin Bianchine Thompson, Sherry (Ott) Marcum, Joel D. Dolbeck and Brittan Hunting-

ton-Bardol were inducted into the hall of fame along with the 1984 Sentinel football team. The honorees were cited at a dinner at the Ticonderoga Knights of Columbus and were recognized again during halftime of the homecoming football game against St. Lawrence.
