Knights to serve barbecue PORT HENR Y — The Port Henry Knights of Columbus will hold a chicken barbecue at their hall on Sunday, May 8, starting at noon. Potatoes, beans, rolls and coleslaw will also be provided. Participation in the event costs $9.
Flea market, sale planned TICONDEROGA — A flea market and rummage sale will be held Saturday, May 7, at the Masonic T emple on Montcalm Street fr om 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Fort Ticonderoga Chapter #263 of the Order of the Eastern Star . There will be many items for sale.
CROWN POINT — Friends of Crown Point State Historic Site will hold its annual meeting Saturday, May 7. The g athering w ill b e a t 1 0 a .m. a t t he historic site museum, located at the base of the Lake Champlain Bridge that is now under construction. Members will nominate of ficers as part of the annual business meeting. The meeting, and the gr oup, is open to all inter ested people. During the annual meeting members will review job descriptions of volunteer friends leaders, hear a r eport fr om the nominations committee and elect of ficers to lead the gr oup in working towar d this year ’s goals and priorities. The friends group, working closely with site management, provides an extra measure of support for the benefit of the site’s mission to preserve its history and to serve the visiting public. Paid members ar e eligible b oth t o v ote a t t he a nnual b usiness meeting and also to hold of fice on the board of trustees. “The declared purposes of this group are to support the impr ovement and development of the site; to conduct educational programs, services, and activities in keeping with the nature of the site; to assist in fund raising activities so that objects, equipment, and supplies may be purchased for the site; and to pr omote, conserve, develop, and interpr et the site for the benefit of the public and posterity,” explained Tom Hughes, Crown Point Historic Site manager.
