jeremiah@denpubs.com PLATTSBURGH — The town of Plattsbur gh is moving forwar d with plans to enact local legislation that will r egulate solid waste management facilities. The town council held a public hearing Monday night, seeking comments from the community about the pr oposal, accor ding to Deputy T own Supervisor Martin D. Mannix Jr. The law , if appr oved by the council as pr oposed, said Mannix, would give the town mor e input into the permitting process for solid waste management facilities
and where they could be located. The language within the pr oposed law is the r esult of extensive research by a “blue-ribbon panel” of citizens and local officials, said Mannix. “This is something the town has been looking at for a good number of years,” said Mannix. The public hearing, he said, was the latest round in a subject that has been under the microscope for the past six y ears following the closure of the Clinton County Compost Facility on
