When and where to celebrate Memorial Day Indian Lake
DEC planning to restore Camp Santanoni
American Legion Post 1392 in Indian Lake will be hosting this yearÕ s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, at 2 p.m. The parade route will begin at the intersection of Bennett Road and Route 28, following Route 28 to the Parker-Benton American Legion Building. The parade will feature a float competition for first, second and third place. The Indian Lake United Methodist Church will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner at 5 p.m. on Memorial Day, with takeouts beginning at 4:30 p.m. Weekend-long festivities include the annual Town Wide Yard Sale, held Friday through Sunday. Maps with the full listing of participating businesses can be picked up at the chamber of commerce or from a number of area businesses. Also, the Indian Lake Fire Hall will host its annual charity yard sale on both Friday and Saturday, to benefit local organizations.

JOHNSBURG Ñ Residents and staff of the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home got a furry treat on Thursday, May 14, when Faye and Celeste, a pair of therapy donkeys, paid the home a visit. In honor of National Nursing Home Week, Faye and Celeste were invited as one of the daily events the staff has planned for the weekÑ including a

health fair and a pancake breakfast for residents. The donkeys made their way to Johnsburg from Butternut Ridge Miniature Donkey Farm in Peru Ñ a non-profit organization that offers a myriad of programs from on-site visits for autistic and grieving children to touring the nursing home circuit, donkeys in tow. At their visit, Faye and Celeste were led about a room lined with residents by Ken Parker and his staff from Butternut Ridge, stopping to nuzzle up to their

admirers. By the end of their stay, Board President Karen Smith was well-acquainted with Celeste, as she was the winner of the HomeÕ s ÒK iss the DonkeyÓ c ontest. The contest—a fund-raiser for the Alzheimer’s AssociationÑ invited area residents to make donations in the name of a staff member.
