INDIAN LAKE — The owner of Hudson River Rafting Company in North Creek, Pat Cunningham, and one of his guides, Heath Bromley, were charged this week with second-degree reckless endangerment after allegedly sending customers down the Hudson River Gorge without a licensed guide and abandoning others on the water. Cunningham is accused of endangering customers on several occasions this summer. According to the Hamilton County District Attorney office, he sent a kayaker down the river without a licensed guide and abandoned a raft group, leaving them to finish half of their trip, again, without a licensed guide. Three people were injured on the river this year while on Hudson River Rafter Company trips, according

Railway Depot platform in need of overhaul Fund raising campaign kicked off By Lindsay Yandon lindsay@denpubs.com NORTH CREEK — Members of the North Creek Depot Museum kicked off their Capital Fund campaign this fall to raise money for a new platform at the railway. After 11 years of aging and weather damage, the platform is in dire need of repair according to campaign cochair Mike Brassel. Brassel remembers his experiences with the railway as a child and hopes the depot will continue to be successful in providing those same memories for years to come. “We want to get the platform in shape for the foreseeable future,” he said. “We can make it happen, we just
need to work hard at this.” Aside from the platform itself, campaign organizers hope to raise a total of $200,000 to repair and improve aspects of the Owens House education center, retire its mortgage, as well as insulate the aging depot buildings for more efficient winterization. “We plan to replace the rotting boards on the platform with pressure treated timber that should last for 25 years or more,” said co-chair Burt Miner. Local options are being explored for purchase of the lumber and a order will be placed as soon as the funds are raised through the capital campaign. All donations to the
