Blood drives to be hosted by JCS students JOHNSBURG — On Monday, Sept. 28, the Johnsburg Junior National Honor Society will host its first of two annual blood drives for the American Red Cross. It will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. Reasons to consider donating: 1. Bi-annual participation qualifies Johnsburg for a scholarship from the American Red Cross. Last year Kelsey Williford was awarded a $250 scholarship. In order for the American Red Cross to give the scholarship to a graduating JCS senior they need to beat the number of donors that they received the previous year. 2. One donation can potentially save lives. Last year, 273 patients were helped with the donated blood. Call Jodie Seymour at 251-2921, ext. 3129 or e-mail jseymour@johnsburgcsd.or g to sign up. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Church offering homemade food POTTERSVILLE — Homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts will be offered to the public Oct. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pottersville United Methodist Church. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. All are welcome.

Byrne is best known for her more than two decade run on the CBS daytime drama As The World Turns, where she portrayed the role of Lily Walsh Snyder, and later her twin Rose D'Angelo. She has also worked on General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. Beginning her daytime career at age 15, Byrne is eager to answer the many questions most people have about the industry. Saturday workshops include acting, directing and writing workshops with Emmy-winning writer Tom Casiello from The Young and the Restless, and Emmy-nominated directing talent Fritz Brekeller from All My Children. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy oneon-one time with soap stars, get to know the actors in a small town setting. The event is making its debut in the Adirondacks after the work of Roalsvig and the actors are pleased to make appearances. “Long Lake is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited,” said Byrne. “I am excited to get together with old friends and celebrate something that I dedicated my life to.” Ticket information and a complete schedule is available at www.anadirondackaffair.com. The event will be held at various locations throughout Long Lake and exact times and locations are available on-line.
