BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE — Dogs will be welcome at the Adirondack Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, New York Saturday, Aug. 7. The now legendary celebration of all things canine - "Dog Days of Summer" -- will return for a fourth year. A good dog couldn't ask for more. In 2009, 159 dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds participated in this “fetching” event! Explore all that the Adirondack Museum has to offer and enjoy a variety of doggy demonstrations, programs, and activities with your dog! All dogs are welcome when accompanied by well-behaved owners. Whether you have two feet or four paws, this funloving group of dogs and owners will get you moving! The talented dancing dogs include German Shepherds, Corgis, Labs, Rotweiller, Border Collie, and Australian Shepherd. Always a highlight of “Dog Days,” the annual “pooch” parade will include a costume contest this year. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. For information about this event, call 352-7311, or visit www.adirondackmuseum.org.

North Country Hardship Fund gears up for Wayne Stock By Lindsay Yandon lindsay@denpubs.com NORTH CREEK — Over the past several months, North Country Hardship Fund volunteers have poured hours of planning into this year ’s Wayne Stock III to bring the organizations biggest annual event to new heights this year. The fundraiser is planned for Saturday, Aug. 7, beginning at noon at Ski Bowl Park. Wayne Stock originated in 2008 as a one-time fundraiser to benefit Wayne Bukovinsky and his family after he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. From that first event grew the North Country Hardship fund — a nonprofit organization that aims to raise money for local people who have accrued unexpected financial strains due to tragedy. “After the success of the first event, we decided to continue hosting fundraisers for other deserving people and families,” said Steve Studnicky, Hardship Fund member. “There was an outpouring of support for that first Wayne Stock and
that is the beauty of living in a small community — everyone is willing to give.” Wayne Stock has advanced significantly in the past couple of years and this year will debut professional staging and sounds from outside vendors as well as professional lighting from Creative Stage Lighting. Ten musical acts will entertain the crowds throughout the evening. Featured entertainment includes Vinnie Leddick, Blonde Roots, S.L. Smith Band, Phil Camp, Don’t Quit Your Day Jobbers, Donna Britton Band, Finger Diddle, Dogtown Cadillac, Groove Therapy and Hoffmeister/Keystone Band. Two auctions — one live and one silent — will also run throughout the day. Food and beverages will also be sold by Andie’s Restaurant. “So many people have given to this event to benefit the causes of the North Country Hardship Fund,” said Studnicky. “We appreciate everything that was given, whether it was money, time, or donations.” Wayne Stock raises thousands of dollars each year to benefit the

Morse finished 11th in her age group and 312th overall out of 2,500 runners to raise nearly $600 for the local not-for-profit organization. “Kendyl restored some of my faith in the caring and self-less attitudes of today’s youth,” said
