jgrybos@denpubs.com NORTH CREEK — The developer of the Front Street project has reached a sticking point with the town board over bonding for the project’s wastewater treatment facility. At issue is whether the developer ’s estimate of $46,000 in bonds will cover the capital needed for installing and operating the wastewater system serving the townhouses and hotels planned for the development. John Groll, known as Jack, was nominated for the title in a letter to the town board by his fellow firefighters at Indian Lake Fire District #2. Groll takes the fire truck to parades for Memorial Day, fireman’s field day and other county events. He also does a fire house and truck tour for the art center ’s pre-

school and has hats and coloring books for the kids. Groll has served as the district fire chief since 2006, and was the assistant chief before that. The letter described Groll as “the most knowledgeable when it comes to the fire and emergency equipment and vehicles.”

year, she noted that Groll is still very alert to his duties as fire chief. “The minute an alarm goes off, he’s down there.” Groll is also very alert to the care of Saint Paul’s church, Blue Mountain Lake, which he maintains. Reverend Philip Allen just CONTINUED ON PAGE 15
