Story and Photo by Robert F. Smith –≠Editor A couple of weeks ago, we ran a letter from Ruth Mezzetti in Alstead, NH about her kayak being stolen. It was a sad event, but she treated it with grace and humor. In the letter she reminded the thief that she still had the matching paddle if they wanted it – but to call first if they were coming to get it! Well, since then a few things have happened that have restored Ruth’s trust in humanity. We thought that Thanksgiving Week was the ideal time to highlight her story. Because, while there are some thieves and bad people out there preying on the innocent, most of us realize that the majority of folks are decent and kind and just want to be treated fairly. This is a good time of year to be thankful for human kindness and generosity, so for the rest of Ruth’s story, turn to page 5.
