Text and photo by Joe Milliken - Sports Editor It is that time of year again folks, when our area high school student-athletes pursue the dream of bringing home a basketball state championship to their school and communities. The girls’ state tournament action got underway this past week, with several of our local teams looking to find their way to Barre and a berth in the “Final Four” of their respective divisions. Above, Green Mountain Union High School sophomore McKala Benson drives to the basket in a recent first round match up between the Lady Chieftains and Thetford Academy. For complete game coverage of this and other local hoop tournament action, please turn to the Outlook sports section on pages 18 and 19.
