By Shaun Kittle shaun@denpubs.com PLATTSBURGH — Long before Battle of Plattsburgh festivities take over the city in September, there will be a different battle in Plattsburgh. And this one will involve mixed martial arts. Dubbed “Battle in Plattsburgh 2,” the Xtreme Combat Promotions event will bring some of the top amateur fighters in the Northeast together to compete on Saturday, May 11 at the Crete Civic Center in Plattsburgh. Many of the competitors live in the region, but for one of them, the event is a homecoming. CONTINUED ON PAGE 15

katherine@denpubs.com PLATTSBURGH — North Country job seekers will have an opportunity to meet perspective new employers at the North Country Chamber of Commerce Job Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. May 15 at the West Side Ballroom, 253 New York Road. The Job Fair is cosponsored by the North Country Chamber of Commerce, One WorkSource, North Country Workforce Investment Board, JSEC, Hometown Radio, Hall Communications, Plattsburgh-No. Country Service Corp. and WPTZ. The fair will give locals the opportunity to find out what jobs are available in the region for all types of job-seekers. “We have all types of businesses that are coming from media, manufacturing, CDL (commercial drivers license) truck drivers,” said Chamber Administrative Assistant Becky Manor. There will be jobs for those with a variety of work and educational experience, including factory positions, truck driver positions, office jobs, media jobs and administration work. The chamber holds two job fairs a year, one in September and one in May. Manor said there is usually 300 to 400 applicants
