CHESTERTOWN — Faculty and staff of North Warren and Warrensburg school districts competed in a basketball game that raised money for the family of Alon Abare, a young mother from Brant Lake who is recovering from severe injuries resulting from a freak accident. The game was well attended by students and their family members from both schools, cheering on their respective teams. The crowd enjoyed stellar outside shots and savvy drives to the basket as well as occasional airballs, collisions, fouls and mishaps from the schools’ staffers, many of whom were relying on their long-dormant athletic prowess. North Warren won 65-62 in overtime, capping off a suspenseful comefrom-behind effort. Warrensburg athletic director Scott Smith offered a summary of the evening’s competitive play. >> See CHARITY GAME | pg. 19
